Century initiative is real. It was pushed hard by the liberals. But Canada doesn't have the infrastructure for this growth.

I think I mentioned something about walking downtown Toronto in 2010. It wasn't "quaint" but it was nothing like a "big scary American city" if you know what I mean. It was weirdly clean and orderly and I only saw two homeless people - a man with a cup in front of Johnny Rockets and a drunk native girl sitting on a blanket. The city was mostly orderly. Downtown was very white and middle class. There were some Indians, arabs and blacks but the dominant immigrant group back then was East Asian and they didn't dwarf the white population in number. Immigrants back then seemed to be raised here too and brought to Canada as kids. You didn't run into someone with an "accent" very often apart from the East Asians. Most of the Indians and blacks came to Canada as kids and were very much Canadian-ized.


What universe was that? It's just long gone now.

I swear every other person I talk to are not Canadians and have HEAVY accent.

And that's being generous.

I am not even afraid of venting out about my frustration anymore. I say everything I say here in real life RIGHT NEXT TO jeets. I don't give a fuck. I want to make their life a little more insecure. A little more dangerous to keep them in line.

Obviously I grew up with local education. There was maybe 12-20 kids that needed ESL classes per school in a well off suburb. Everyone I spoke to had zero accent.

Now, I am working with some of the newer hires who grew up through 2010-2020 and they all have heavy TORONTO accent which is close to nigger/Jeet phonetics.

It's all fucking disgusting.

The dealer I often go to has very high security so it's a very sophisticated one compared to the other less larger ones that hasn't asked me what my name is. I think this only happens when you buy gold or thousands of dollars worth of metals I guess.

I was just thinking about this. Never lived in Toronto and I always considered the city a bit overrated. You look at films like Scott Pilgrim, and in some sense its a good microcasm of a time. I always thought the movie gave a very bourjy image of the city, but even that image of Toronto is completely gone now.

I'm not even going to mention all of the homeless, but at some point everyone became a Drake wannabe

This, literally this. It just popped up, its like half Jamacian, half idek. Its so bizarre to me because noone talked like this a decade ago, even adults, and now its 'Ya fam, totes nyuh?' etc, with all the youth, even white youth, in some gym clothed rapper-lite aesthetic

Then of course most people started being from outside of Canada (think arabs, caribbean people, etc). We always had them, just they wern't the supermajority.

I never fully liked Toronto, it did have some great venues like El Mocambo though, but even that image of the city that youre talking about is entirely gone. The character and subcultural vibes thoughout the city are completely different from a decade ago.

It's simple: I hate living here, and I have no faith that things will ever improve. This isn't a little 'oopsie' that is Trudeau the second, this is the result of 60 years of bad choices systematically fucking this country. We've been barrelling towards this cliff longer than I've been alive, and every time I think we just might change rails we just end up speeding up.

I have no attachment to this country despite being a fifth generation canadian and having family going back to the eighteen hundreds. Because that is not the Canada we live in. That Canada died a slow death as it was hollowed out by short sighted feel good policies. And things are so profoundly fucked and people so profoundly scared of admitting it that I know it won't change. Especially now that pajeets have a dedicated voting block and have infested every inch of earth here.

Even 'based' Harper absolutely gutted the trades by going all in on the TFW shit. And he was the best PM we've had in decades. The lows are so low that is considered a high.

Our laws are cute that way. Anything you carry to use as an instrument to physically defend yourself—even a big stick, rock, or ballpoint pen—becomes a weapon and is used by the cops to demonstrate an prior intent to inflict physical harm on others. Bear mace is fully legal to carry in most places, but it only becomes illegal once you admit it's not just for use on bears. You can try to claim you simply had it on hand when someone attacked you, but that's about as effective as denying any involvement in the matter.
