California recently became the first state to ban the sale of propane cylinders that cannot be refilled or reused, as Governor Newsom singed Senate Bill 1280 into law. Beginning January 1, 2028, only refillable propane canisters and cylinders will be offered for sale within the California market.

Single-use propane canisters, such as U.S. DOT 39 cylinders, are popular with consumers due to their size, portability, and versatility. However, these types of propane vessels have, in recent years, caught the eye of legislators and organizations that are focused on reducing packaging waste and promoting a more circular-economy in which product packaging can be reused, and has a longer lifespan in general. Outside of California, single-use propane cylinders have also been the focus of product stewardship laws in other states, such as Vermont.

Retards can't put the brakes on their homeless outbreak or niggers stealing/burning everything, but the certainly have time and resources to ban things that are contained in the most recyclable container know to man, and stupidly easy to refill yet made illegal to refill by......... California.

This absolute nigger of a state can't accept that they have ruined gas cans in all of the U.S. while causing far more spilled gas in the process, so they are now coming after propane. I hope Hank Hill helps these retards burn themselves out of existence.

First I want say I'm amazed by all the retards in this thread who think this law is about the propane tank you use on gas grills

If you go camping, After a big trip you might end up with 2 or 3 of those small 1lb propane tanks empty. It's not clear what you're supposed to do with them. I think lots of people just throw them in the trash because to try to recycle them is a huge hassle.

Making them refillable makes sense.
I don't believe anyone that commented thought this was about normal home gas grills. There are many camping grills, cool tops, and lanterns that use these cylinders.
You also can't read because I stated several time's these are easily refillable . For instance , here is the adapter to do it by a company the supported all the LMNOPQ+ Diversity folks before they decided they aren't worth it https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/gas-one-1-lb-propane-refill-adapter

Now let's go beyond that, let's say you own a older home and have a plumbing leak or want to add something on to your copper plumbing. How do you suggest you heat that nicely cleaned and fluxed pipe up to accept the solder?

It is a California thing and mainly spray paint, but the state has a blanket aerosol can that isn't empty. They'd prefer citizens perform due diligence and I'm sure they sort the trash at their facilities, but they'd prefer you to take a trip to the same place you drop off used motor oil and other shit. Just waiting until the state has official trash inspectors to fine you for violating their laws.
Thats fucking retarded. Just send it to the dump. Its a fucking spray paint can.

I decided to have a look at this law. It is 1lb propane cannisters that will have to be reusable, not all of them.

As i am not a Californian, nor an American, can't you use butane instead for camping?
Butane really isnt that big of a thing in the states. The only time I've ever really seen it for sale is in little bottles to refill lighters and such. I'm sure it's available somewhere but at that point you would still be basically back to buying the same thing as the propane cylinders wouldn't you?

I'm not arguing it's retarded, but also why I bring up aerosol cans; the state wants to put their nasty little fingers everywhere it can and I wouldn't be surprised if they start making things strictly controlled. Gas generators are mostly outlawed, there are a few exceptions I can't recall right now, but may as well accept it as a ban. Gonna start with the Coleman Stove cans, and willing to bet they'll eventually move on to bigger ones.

Now let's go beyond that, let's say you own a older home and have a plumbing leak or want to add something on to your copper plumbing. How do you suggest you heat that nicely cleaned and fluxed pipe up to accept the solder?
In the California hellscape, you'd call a plumber, who keeps all his gear in a proper hazardous material locker and renews his hazardous material license annually. Yes I'm being sarcastic, but I wouldn't be shocked if this is where shit leads.

If you live in California after 2028, Buy a propane or mapp gas refillable canister.

What are you mad about Exactly? That they aren't disposable?

Faggots are trying to regulate a clean gas in I easily recyclable container...... You seem like you are the type of person who finds these types of gas can acceptable, and they are the product of California being absolute retards and fucking the rest of the country. That's probably how this retardation passed, because most Californians have no idea how to build or fix anything, and they also do go outdooring. They usually look like these pics, and are quite useful to alot of people . View attachment 6462174View attachment 6462175
I used to refill propane tanks for a living and the amount of retards that bring in the Bernzomatics and Coleman tanks and just deer-in-headlights stare at me when I said these aren't refillable tanks would enrage me. Also people that bring in tanks with heavy dents in the side and get all sorts of assmad when I'd decommission the tanks. That's the first thing you're taughy, if there's a creased dent, you do not fill them no matter how much they bitch and cry.
I can see if you backed into it with your truck, and I can definitely tell that you shot it, all you're getting is a tank with the fittings removed and a big red X painted on the side with "DNF" written under the collar, and an offer for us to recycle it for you.

How so? I don't know the history of plastic gas canisters.
God damn now I feel old and never thought I would have to explain this but I suppose it has been long enough that a major portion of people have never known any different ....
Ok so back in the long ago, when you could freely say nigger on the Internet and trannies didn't exist we used to have fuel jugs that had a spout on one end that had a little disc under it that you would remove to pour fuel, and on the other end you had a tiny little vent cap that you would crack open so the fuel wouldn't create a vacuum in the jug and would pour smoothly....... Then came California and C.A.R.B... ( idk or care what carb stands for) They decided that that pesky little vent let way too many emission onto the atmosphere and must be stopped. To accomplish this they 1. Got rid of that happy little vent on the back that made it pour smooth and not pull a vacuum and glug every 3 seconds, and 2. Decided that the spout tube up front worked way too good and was entirely to easy to use.
So I'm order to put a end to all of these pleasant fuel transfering event they created some of the worlds most complicated and non working nozzles they could think to create. Most required 2 hands just to operate the spout itself, let alone hold on the jug in a pouring position, so many a gallon were dispensed all over the thing you were fueling, or the ground. These jugs also had the handy feature where if they got hot, they would blow up like a balloon and fall over.
Now you would thinking with all of today's technology these problems would be fixed. Well you are fucking wrong, and this is why I hate California and wish them fire.

Also I have absolutely no fucking clue how the entirety of the U.S. decided they had to follow Californias law for these but they did and we all suffer because of It. So fuck their mad up retardation laws, I will own my propane and use my propane.

O I 100% understand that, those are the tanks you gotta go to a 711 and exchange to Blue rhino haha.

I've gone camping in the subalpine up a 10km hiking trail pretty much straight up a fucking mountain. You're not allowed to have fires up there. You expect me to lug a 20lb tank up the mountain on my back as well as all my camping shit to cook my dinner? Or fuck around with those gay little alcohol or naptha burners? Not everybody camps in places where taking a large refillable propane tank is possible.

But the small tank's gonna be refillable now, isn't that a good thing? You guys are fuckin' weird. Obviously if they totally phase out small tanks without offering a replacement that would be gay, but also it would create a market overnight (so get rich on it loser)

The answer to "what's the big deal about X wasteful but convenient product that I personally use" is "when 100 million retards also use this product it is disgustingly bad for the environmenent". It's like cars... does it matter if one or a thousand people drive some carbed big block that pisses fumes out it's straight pipes? No. But when there are millions and millions of assholes driving it's a little different.

I would straight up ban plastic packaging if I could and watch motherfuckers sneed so hard their hair catches fire. Fuck you and fuck your pollution, go plant some potatoes or something

If it just applies to 1 lb cans, why not just make them slightly bigger or smaller to circumvent the law?

Butane stays a liquid at around freezing, won't turn into a gas to flow into a burner, 0 pressure in the cylinder, propane works fine in the way cold.

Its why you have to warm up a lighter in your hand, keep it in your jeans pocket, not your jacket pocket if you want it to work in the cold.

Why do people still insist living in comiefornia?
You can go to the beach and skiing with in the same day. Also you have basically nice weather year round in much of the state. The parts that aren't nice year round are hot ass desert places.
If you're a farmer you can basically grow year round a lot of crops as you live in a medertratinain climate with irrigation.
