A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I'd like a bit less black on the top side of the wings but other wise a nice design.

I still reckon we should have bought the Rafale. Half the price and carrier capable from the get-go. Oh well.

I don't know what's worse in the twitter replies. The salty eurocucks REEEing about the fact they refered to it as a Typhoon and not Eurofighter Typhoon (despite the fact we've never officially called it the Eurofighter, even when we were in the EU), or the faggots who don't seem to understand it's a fucking display piece, and that we're not gonna be flying them into combat like that (unfortunately)

I still reckon we should have bought the Rafale. Half the price.
I'm curious what the actual numbers on this would be if you have them. I know it's supposedly cheaper but half price seems unlikely.

carrier capable from the get-go
You have to remember that
a)we didn't want a new carrier capable craft at the time, hence why the frogs pulled out of the Eurofighter to make the Rafale in the first place.
b)while they are carrier capable, they're not UK carrier capable. None of the Illustrious Invincible carriers we had then, and even the Queen Elizabeth carriers we have now, can't operate them, since they cucked out of adding an electro-magnetic catapult.

On a semi related note since we're talking military shit, and since I forgot to post it a few weeks ago the MOD has done something (vaguely)right for once and is spending money to upgrade a bunch of Chally 2's to the Challenger 3: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-57025266

Of course in typical military spending fashion it's horribly overpriced, far too late (they won't be in service til the end of the decade), and conceptually kinda outdated (the shit they're adding makes it better at killing tanks, which isn't really going to be it's job in the future tbh), but it's infinitely better than their potential plan to scrap tanks entirely like they were considering.

On a minor note for my fellow miltary nerds they're finally abandoning the rifled gun and going smoothbore like everyone else, meaning no more HESH rounds, which I think is another mistake personally.

*edited because I shame my seafaring ancestors by forgetting the carrier class was Invincible not Illustrious

It boggles me that Eurocucks are so salty about the Typhoon name. Near as I can tell just about every single user (except the Germans, but they have good reasons to be mad) calls it the Typhoon or some variant of since its got a pretty damn good heritage.

Amerimutt here, who is also a anglophile (you're culture, while shit, is paramount importance to the world).

Can you invade Hong Kong while us Amerimutts defend Taiwan?

Are the Brits phasing out that one other fighter, I believe its the Tornado?
The fighter variant of the Tornado was phased out way back in 2011. We kept the ground pounder variant around longer, but now the Typhoon and Lightning are covering both roles.

On 2 September 1998, a naming ceremony was held at Farnborough, United Kingdom. This saw the Typhoon name formally adopted, initially for export aircraft only. The name continues the storm theme started by the Panavia Tornado. This was reportedly resisted by Germany; the Hawker Typhoon was a fighter-bomber aircraft used by the RAF during the Second World War to attack German targets.[30] The name "Spitfire II" (after the famous British Second World War fighter, the Supermarine Spitfire) had also been considered and rejected for the same reason early in the development programme.

Trying to name it Spitfire II, despite heavy German involvement in the project, is peak IRL shitposting.

The proper term is banter, and once upon a time the inhabitants of the UK were the world kings until the Australians dethroned them. Alas, the Scots especially have fallen further than anyone could have imagined.
Flyting became public entertainment in Scotland in the 15th and 16th centuries, when makars would engage in verbal contests of provocative, often sexual and scatological but highly poetic abuse. Flyting was permitted despite the fact that the penalty for profanities in public was a fine of 20 shillings (over £300 in 2021 prices) for a lord, or a whipping for a servant. James IV and James V encouraged "court flyting" between poets for their entertainment and occasionally engaged with them. The Flyting of Dumbar and Kennedie records a contest between William Dunbar and Walter Kennedy in front of James IV, which includes the earliest recorded use of the word shit as a personal insult. In 1536 the poet Sir David Lyndsay composed a ribald 60-line flyte to James V after the King demanded a response to a flyte.

Alas, try shitposting IRL like that in Scotland these days.

I think you need the black background to set off the colours of the Union Jack. The plane will typically be photographed against a light coloured background (the sky) so it essentially acts as a frame to keep the shape of the plane distinct.

Regardless though, it looks pretty cool - glad you posted those.

It's amazing this mess is still rippling through our military capability. How old was this sketch? 2004? Still relevant.

EDIT:

Apparently some darkie who play football, got mad at being called a nigger by a homeless woman and started chimping out on her.

What a piece of shit he is. He's just done more to ensure other Black people get called that by himself than she likely ever has. She looks tiny and almost like a child.

I do like that youtube now allows you to disable dislikes making it absolutely clear people hate the video.
Did they bring that in already? I thought it was coming later and only for certain accounts?

They were still up on this video when I had a peek, but it didn't really have many views in the first place.

It seems to be cropping up on videos all ovsr the place. It may just be for certain accounts however, not sure.
