A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Look at this hatchet job the Mail did on the Remainer couple. Brutal.

Guardianista neighbours in £720,000 flat next to Carrie Symonds'
Remain-backing playwrights Eve Leigh and Tom Penn do not look out of place in trendy Camberwell, but last night they were branded 'neighbours from hell' by a Johnson-supporting Tory MP.

After the pair admitted their role in briefing The Guardian about Carrie Symonds' and Boris Johnson's nocturnal activities, allies and friends of Mr Johnson and Miss Symonds pointed to their neighbours' anti-Brexit sentiment and 'hatred' of the Tory Party.

Ms Leigh is the daughter of multi-millionaire musical theatre producer Mitch Leigh. A successful writer, she was the star of a theatre project called Brexit Stage Left, which received financial backing from Eurodram, a cultural campaign funded with Brussels cash.

Eurodram's website reveals it is 'co-funded by the Creative European Programme of the European Union'.
The event in January described itself as a 'festival of staged readings of provocative cutting-edge plays from across the EU'.

The former palm-reader bought her luxurious flat above Carrie Symonds' apartment for £720,000 in April last year.

In March this year, she married her partner Tom.

Last night he confirmed that he had backed Remain in the EU referendum, but insisted that had nothing to do with the weekend's events.

Ms Leigh was described by one interviewer as an 'American Leftist Buddhist Jewish playwright.'

Her religious outlook influenced the theme of her most recent play, The Trick, which tackles the topics of ageing and coping with grief. However, it received mixed reviews from critics.

The Evening Standard called it 'a mystifying muddle' and said 'it's all increasingly wearisome'.

The Guardian gave it two stars and said it was 'overbearing in its manipulative attempts to make us feel sad'.

Other work by the playwright includes 'a documentary audio piece about childhood, told through the prism of a Bulgarian borstal'.

Mr Penn has yet to match his wife's levels of fame or critical attention in the theatre world.

Also this made me laugh

At first Mr Penn and Ms Leigh weren't named by The Guardian, which initially tried to disguise Mr Penn's gender, though gave it away.

Presumed lesbian couple turn out to be fraudulent and heterosexual. The horror.

To be fair, this guy looks like he has negative levels of testosterone. So they could easily be confused as a lesbian couple.

Can someone tell my why a couple having a heated argument is news? Unless he gave her a shiner I don't see why this is anyone's business or why anybody should give anything even close to a fuck.

There's an argument to be made that a politician should be transparent when it comes to their lifestyle - they are, after all, meant to be representing their county and knowing what skeletons they have curled up under the couch is important. I'd be a lot less willing to vote for the politician who spent his weekends stamping kittens, for example.

Problem I have with this specific example is that it's a single, verbal argument that being blatantly twisted to imply Boris was smashing her head on the floor between gloating about his expensive electronics. It's such a clumsy hatchet job.

We all know he's an adulterer, and has a mouth on him. He should don't have the usual thing and just own it. None of us would've given a shit then.

How do they all manage to look nearly identical, these soylings?

Of course they're theatre fags.

I wonder why Tom 'looks like a thumb' Penn and his beard wife just deleted their Twitter accounts @GrenvillePenn @EevLee @Sam_Penn_?

Of course they're stereotypical mindless NPCs:

Tom Penn's beard Eve Leigh even has her own Wikipedia page? She's an absolute nobody, how silly!

For all the flak directed at the Mail, everyone would miss it if it were gone. That article was pure joy to read.

Even if the pregnant woman has difficulty taking care of her own self, I don't see why the baby could be adopted after its born.
Are her severe disabilities heritable? What are the chances the kid will be a useless goblin as well?

The soon to be grandmother said she would be the one to take of the kid anyway.
The same parent who let a retarded dependent get pregnant. In 15 years we'll be right back here as she lets her new retarded dependent get pregnant.

This is straight up eugenics. Actual, LITERAL Nazi shit.
This is straight up vegetarianism. Actual, LITERAL Nazi shit.

the income and government education expenditures are the figures from 1990-2010, the IQ studies are from 2002-2010, the same studies from your link are included in the calculations
And yet Brainstats seems to be the only site saying Nigerians are 70 IQ, as at least two other sites say that they're either 84 IQ or even 97 IQ.

One site isn't the sole authority on all things race/ethnicity/nation and IQ.

Hopefully in a shallow grave unless he's a tard as well

Probably a doctor. Narcissistic Dr's have alot of power over women, not just disabled people.

Abort the rape baby, find a new caregiver for the potato, jail the mom and the rapist.

You can't just separate a disabled woman from her child....there is a mother/baby connection there. There is no mechanism in her brain other than a "natural" mother response that measures the encroachment made on her person. It's not unlike children getting sexually abused and thinking it's normal and apart of family life.
To take her baby away would be as bad as the initial rape. IF SHE WANTS THE CHILD. IF SHE CHOSE TO BE THIS MOTHER.

I'm going to assume that Brexit Stage Left is the British equivalent of all the interchangeable anti-Trump plays that are clogging up Fringe Festivals stateside

Well they have their moments. Still like any other US/UK newspaper you shouldn't mistake what they're doing for journalism. It's more like 'We do hatchet jobs. If they're aimed at someone you dislike you'll enjoy it. If it's aimed at someone you're somewhat sympathetic to you'll Google the accusations and find we lied'.

But I've always said a good rant is a thing of beauty, and this article is essentially a good rant.

Because if the mischling Jew can't even bring his right-on bimbo side piece to heel he has no possible hope of successfully leading Britain out of the EU.

Ok I promise I'm not trying to be like 'gotcha!' with this, genuinely curious to hear people's opinions
Whilst I understand that for a lot of people (especially on this site) free speech is the number 1 priority, and I don't even necessarily disagree with that point of view, I'm interested what you guys would think if instead of these guys being neo-nazi's threatening Prince Harry for being a race traitor, it was 2 muslim terrorist sympathisers calling for someone to attack him in order to bring about the new caliphate. If those islamic terrorists hadn't actually started putting together materials for an attack, or outright said 'I"m gonna do this on this date', but just encouraged someone else to do so, would their right to free speech still triumph?(
I mean, these guys were part of a pretty far right extremist group, with links to a US group that literally encourages lone wolf attacks. They've been sentenced under the same laws that would allow the government to imprison members of an islamic terrorist supporting group with links to ISIS. I'm asking because my knee-jerk reaction was also 'what about free speech' and then I played my favourite game of switch genders/sexuality/beliefs and was surprised at how harder it made me think about where/if there should be a point where 'free speech' is no longer an acceptable excuse
I've been trying to think of a way to phrase this that doesn't just sound like I'm trying to force everyone to say 'yes we were wrong jail everyone for speaking out of line' but I haven't found one, so please just take my word that I"m just playing devils advocate and trying to get a more interesting discussion going than 'Fuck the UK, 'MURICA RULES'. There are plenty of valid arguments as to why it's wrong to jail these dudes, but I think the situation is a little more nuanced than people just being jailed for wrongthink

Then again fuck the royal family anyone who gets rid of them for good is ok in my book (in b4 I get sentenced to 4 years in jail for saying that)
No, being a public supporter of ISIS should not be a crime.

She hasn't given birth and probably doesn't understand what the hell that even entails in the first place.

Probably not, but the natural female body is designed to react a certain way when pregnant. Just like the invalid in Arizona who gave birth, she even began moaning at contractions. Can infantile and vegetative adults give birth, hell yes, if they are alive and breathing even with less than or no brain awareness or activity. The female DNA is programmed to reproduce deeper in the brain than those that are affected. If their pituitary glands are functioning and they are having monthly periods, yes, sir, sugar lips...they are still baby making humans. She will know INSTINCTIVELY which is the difference between her and the vegetative woman in AZ.

Now, she should have been put on birth control, but there may be cultural issues with that. I would suggest that women like this be put on birth control and not taken off until perchance she gets married and a consenting guardian is available to watch over the disabled mother and child. There are many good disabled mothers and I would even venture to say, they can make better mothers than alcoholic/substance abuse mothers. Oh, none of you thought about that, didja? Yeah....substance and alcohol abusive mothers are often worse than disabled mothers.....cause you all aren't in the industry, are ya? But you all have opinions...huh

And I hate to harp on this but the current rape culture is higher with disabled people. A friend of mine walked in male bathroom to find a group of men raping an autistic boy in a bathroom ( he was over 18 on a work promotion deal) No protection for him at all on the job and psycho pervs took full advantage of his inability to consent or even be aware he was being raped. He thought he was making friends. That's what they told him.

I am fully pro-choice to which means that the woman carrying the fetus gets to decide if she wants to continue the pregnancy. No-one else.
At the same time, I think understanding the potential consequences of what pregnancy and childbirth can do to one's body is hard for anyone to understand before they have been through it. So my ultimate answer in this case would be allow the pregnancy to continue with way above normal support offered.
As to pregnancy and childbirth being an instinctual natural process, don't make me laugh. Without modern day medical care 1 in 20 women died in childbirth, never mind the fetus. The reason women don't in modern medical scanarios is because of medical interventions when the body isn't doing what it should.
My guess is they're wanting to abort the baby so that there is no product left of an obvious crime that took place. If the baby survives, DNA tested, I bet you anything it'd be the child of a worker/Doctor of the NHS and the mother could sue the shit out of the system - a system that has no money to spare.

One of the Rotherham rapists was prosecuted using DNA evidence from an aborted fetus so this abortion would not get any one off the hook.
