A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

You know I actually remember reading that in medieval england the penalty for attempting to commit suicide was death.
Well that's a blessing, really. You get what you wanted with a slightly reduced chance of going to Hell for doing yourself in. Now if you want to kill yourself in the UK you've gotta hope you have some chronic, fatal genetic disorder and wait around in hospital until the death panel decides to pull the plug.

Big tech has just as much respect for the UK as Null.

Gotta love they prostrate themselves before China but laugh off the UK.

Google has to defend people's right to porn because otherwise silicon valley's rabid support for pedophilia and the sexualization of children would look hypocritical and they can't have that.

That's her legacy excluding the complete fuck up and betrayal of Brexit. Get a fapping loisance, it's bad for kids. Ban sugar, it's bad for kids. Ban Tyler the Creator from entering the country, he's a bad influence. She was the absolute worse of the nanny state we could get without going full commie.

Is it safe to say the UK is the biggest shithole in the western world? When there banning pornagraphy and arresting people for edgy jokes Orwell is just around the corner.

Possibly. It's been the governments since Thatcher who have massively ramped up the nanny state.

France is pretty bad, enough that they are still rioting with flagrant and open police brutality/violence used. Also have the dumbest, most socialist election system I have seen. Hold an election, pick the top two, then everyone votes between the two, or something along those lines Specifically designed to make sure they can never get the Donald Trunp/Farage leader.

Edit: Sweden and their "I don't consent" wristbands?

I know we have a gigantic Brexit thread but I haven't followed it and it's a bit daunting to start now, and I don't know much about her. Can any brits give a quick summation of her career's big points? I get that she's part of the "conservative" group (I also don't know a lot about how British parties compare to analogues in the states) and I am surmising that she is basically responsible for Brexit dragging on 3 years without result after being voted for, is that right? What's the hope for her replacement in practical terms?

The bongs told me she's basically a duller Margaret Thatcher.

More like Microsoft Edging because you can't ejaculate without proper government authorization.
Introducing the new LaMotta browser, exclusive for British users. Every time you're about to cum but haven't paid the 5£ fee to the BBC military policeman permanently quartered in your home, the browser alerts him and he pours a pitcher of ice water over your genitals.

BREAKING: In recent months there has been a rise in Ice Fetishism within the UK.

In other news, there is a startling number of BBC Security reporting Mental trauma in recent months.

The only thing she's known for is banning Tyler the Creator from the UK and coming up with porn licenses

Do you need a loicence to swim the English Channel?
Wipe some mud on your face when you reach Calais and pretend to be Algerian.
If fetishes need to be banned because they're oppressive, yet fetishes often come into being as a reaction to what is forbidden/verboten, then how does a police state ever actually stop its citizens from defying their authority?

There are myriad ways in which an ISP can block websites without reference to DNS. IP blacklisting, SNI/host header inspection, and metadata analysis are just a few methods which readily come to my mind (and I'm by no means an expert). In fact, BT, Sky, and TalkTalk already have (Huawei-supplied) censorship systems in place which do some of these things, for the purpose of enforcing the IMF blacklist.

I don't care enough to investigate how the proposed (((MindGeek))) system will work, but I will say that it is possible to implement a digital age verification system in a privacy-preserving way, trustlessly, using Chaumian blind signatures, such that any third party, a (((smut merchant))) in this instance, can verify that an authority (here, the government) has certified that a loicense holder is over 18, with no computationally feasible way to link the loicense to the identity under which it was issued, even if both collude to do so.

In outline, the government would offer a website, pornloicense.gov, where you could complete an age verification process, which might entail linking your existing government gateway account, or entering a code bought at a newsagents. Pornloicense.gov would then provide an authenticated API, to which a piece of software, such as a browser extension, could submit a blinded public key digest, producing a blinded signature, which can be unblinded, stored, and used in conjunction with the corresponding unblinded private-public keypair to "prove" to anyone that you are 18+.

Later, when you visit (((Blacked.com))) and click on "Black Bull Cucks Sissy Husband", the site will challenge your browser to prove that it possesses a valid porn license, which it will dutifully do using standard public-key cryptography, all in the background, and you can enjoy your race-mixing propaganda without hindrance, no more or less exposed than before.

Critically, the government only ever saw and signed the opaque, blinded version of the public key's digest, which is never used again. This means that, for any given 'proof of age' interaction, even if the government and the porn site records everything, they can't determine to whom the license used in that instance was issued, even if they compare notes.

And, with that, I've spent more time thinking about this than any government official.
