A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I'm so glad that Ebony's recovering and the baby was born healthy. This sort of reminds me of that pregnant Midge doll from the early 2000s!

How the fuck do the 2 wombs work?
Is she able to get pregnant in those 2?
I have so many questions

Doctors discovered Ms Stevenson's seizures were caused by preeclampsia and then told her mother she was pregnant and that the baby needed to be delivered.

What, not even giving an option to bash its head against a sink in a post-birth abortion? I must've gone back twenty years in time. Please let me stay here.

I don't understand how you become pregnant without realizing it when you're not obese.

I keep hearing stories all the time of women suddenly going into labor and being confused as all hell, like apparently some people are not that observant about their own bodies, it's insane. But morning sickness doesn't always happen even though that's not really the first, let alone only sign that should be looked for when pregnant.

As for some skinny white chick to not notice right before she fell into a coma, not sure how she didn't seem to question any weight gain and thinking she needed to lay off the sweets, but she didn't know she had two uteri and she was still menstruating from the other (though makes you wonder how irregular/heavy her periods might be). The one that formed a baby in was the back one, more closer to her center and oh God if she had gotten pregnant in both of them that could've potentially done some organ if not back damage. The infant's seven pounds (pretty average given the amount of obese babies that are being born lately), add a second seven-pound baby and she could've just been smushed under all that weight, so good thing the one was vacant and therefore allowed some room.

It's great the baby was born healthy and safe, though, it's at least a sign the young woman was taking good care of her health otherwise.

>name is "Ebony"
>isn't actually black
>lives in the UK
>makes total sense

I like that the infant looks just as surprised as the rest of us. Cute kid.

She never realised she was pregnant because she still had her period, so it's likely she never properly ate and the kid was developing with just the basics to survive and never grew that much.

Also, the article said the uterus where the pregnancy happened was positioned towards her back and any bump was probably hidden. Considering she was still having her period, she never considered the chance that she was pregnant and simply thought she had gained some weight. I mean, most healthy women, particularly young women, carry on normal lives while pregnant.

For real, babies usually come out ugly as shit. Too bad this one will be taught to hate herself for being white.

Nah, if the science fiction writers are right (and they usually are) the age of unrest is about to start. The time in the "pre history" where earth falls into an orgy of global war based on racial and ideological grounds. Don't worry though. This road to this hell was paved with the best of intentions. By 2119. people will be looking back at us as silly and misguided but understandable idiots who bungled into a disaster that nearly destroyed human civilization.

....

For those curious, the age of unrest is the foundational era for gene roddenberys Star Trek, Heinleins Starship Troopers, Nuttals Ark Royal and so on. It's a common trope but all have the same theme. Religious, social and racial difference exceed the capacity of the State to control and the world descends into a brutal hobbesian nightmare.

I'm willing to disregard Roddenbery because, as much as I love classic Star Trek, he was kind of a moron about a lot of things. But Heinlein predicting that is kind of scary.
