A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Also, why is low IQ a legal defense now?
Because it would be bad to do things to people who can't understand why you would do that to them. Obviously. The main reason is because 'low intelligence' means paki and they get free reign to do whatever they want. Justice is meant to be part rehabilitation and part punishment, for some reason we have dropped the punishment part. These people should be made to feel how bad they have made someone else feel, that's the fucking point. But we don't want to do that anymore because I fucking love brown people and rape is epic.
What's the point?
Paying money and consuming le sport because le red vs blue debate or whatever.

What the fuck is wrong with judges in the UK and Europe? Why is this judge talking to these monsters like they're in court for an overdue parking ticket? They raped girls and filmed it.

Also, why is low IQ a legal defense now? If anything, if a court considers you too low IQ to not rape then that's more of a reason to keep you locked up, If you're considered too low IQ to not rape or assault, then you should just be hanged, honestly.
Don't like mutts aren't guilty of this too

Norwegian judges have been giving away 'you are too low IQ to not understand consent' rape-passes to afghan and syrian migrants for years now. There were a few cases here of various brownoids groping women and being let off because ''he doesn't understand consent'', a recent judge gave a Syrian ''consent classes''. They seem to believe that browns simply don't understand consent, rather than that their upbringing teaches them to not regard women as people at all.

Oh they are, in fact in some cases they might actually be worse. I'm Irish btw, so I fully understand how clown world this whole system is.
How are the protests for that dead Congolese thief going? Not a sarcy comment, genuine curiosity as to what the mood is over there. I've seen a few Irish reddit posts about preventing 'foreign investors' owning property pop up over the last few days. The replacement of the Irish is so swift and heavy-handed I feel bad for you people, and you guys bombed the shit out of of Bham.

Andy Burnham has backed the EHRC guidance on single-sex spaces and said the Supreme Court ruling on biological sex must be implemented. (X) Trannies seething.
Burnham told journalists at his campaign launch in Makerfield that his views had changed since previous comments made in 2022, and he said: "I think the time has come to take the Supreme Court ruling and the guidance and implement it. But to do it in a way, obviously, that protects those spaces, but does not marginalise already marginalised communities."

He said: "Let's implement the guidance, but to do it in the fairest and most compassionate way possible."

"We've got to move into the next phase and not constantly re-running the arguments. I think Britain has done this too much in recent times, you know, with Brexit and other things. We've got to stop arguing with each other."

And why are trans "women" so fixated with going to the toilet? As a bloke I can go out all day and never have to use a toilet.
They get off on forcing their fetish onto others, so entering private spaces is part of their sexual interests. They also want to listen to women use the bathroom and get off to it. It's all disgusting.

You give them far too much credit and don't have enough common sense. Someone who is clinically retarded cannot understand consent. It's a problem with retards we know. So sand niggers and their jungle bunny friends with IQ's so low we had to define retarded to be under it, are too fucking stupid to understand consent. Where do you think terms like sexual emergency comes from?

The Irish government can't even do ethnic replacement correctly because they tried to do it all basically in less than 10 years. It's way too fast so everyone and their mother is noooticing.
The "protests" for the dead Congolese fella are all an NGO sector day out in the sun or communist politicians reeeing (I mean literal communists btw, we have an openly Trotskyist party in Parliament with a few seats). No working Irish people give a fuck.

I fucking love that either way the system tm loves letting fucking retards that either do not understand the concept of consent or actively ignore it onto our streets. But if you actively ignore the bbc tax then you'll be harassed for fucking years.

A retard should have someone responsible for them, and that person should be viciously punished if the retard does a crime, the retard should then also be put in prison as a containment. The idea that the crime itself is less of a crime because the person doing it, is as spastic, is awful.

As a woman I've used public toilets about 10 times in the past 5 years. It's really not something I even think about, ever. Perverted cross-dressing males have tons of co-morbid fetishes, and going into women's toilets is like hitting the jackpot in terms of indulging their gross sexual obsessions. They get to transgress other people's boundaries, which is their universal favourite; they get to listen to women urinating, which is a huge hit with them as they seemingly all have piss-related fetishes; they can dig through sanitary disposal bins to get used menstrual products for their period fetishes, etc etc. It's nothing to do with actually needing to use a toilet and everything to do with being a predatory pervert. TTD.

You can't make me go back motherfucker! I'm free! FREEEEEEEEEEE!!

Oh you meant for ot-Haha yeah, you're right. Unironically. I get that they may not have been the healthiest place to be, but I honestly put more value on a normal persons ability to exist in society that isn't an open air prison. I hate how many unhinged lunatics just roam the streets of my town.

The worst one is the guy in the mirror always giving you the stink eye. He's a fucking loony tune.

Another u-turn Burnham. Every day the news must mean a fresh round of, "no Andy say this, the surroundings of Wigan have 0.000000001% of (whatever) individuals and they're all voting for the Greens anyway!"
How are the protests for that dead Congolese thief going?
I forgot that was in my backlog of articles to post.

Protesters have gathered at the gates of the Irish Parliament to express "anger" and "grief" at the death of a man in Dublin city centre.
Yves Sakila died last Friday after an incident on Dublin's Henry Street.
The 35-year-old had been detained by a number of security guards over an alleged shoplifting incident. The Congolese man died not long afterwards in hospital.
Footage of the incident, circulating on social media, has been described by the Irish Network Against Racism (INAR) as "very disturbing" and Irish police are investigating what happened.

Several hundred people gathered at Thursday's protest and posters reading "Justice for Yves" were held up in the crowd.
Protesters urged a thorough investigation into Sakila's death and asked for his name to not be forgotten.

Hundreds of people gathered to remember Yves Sakila, who died after an incident in Dublin city centre

"We are not here to ask many questions," said Dr Salome Mbugua, who spoke from the podium during the protest.
"We are here to ask why was this young life taken away? How was it taken away? Have we lost it as human beings that we do not have sense of protecting one another?"

What happened to Yves Sakila?

Gardaí (Irish police) say they were alerted to an incident after security personnel detained Sakila on Henry Street in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident at about 17:00 local time on Friday.
They said a man in his 80s was seriously injured as the suspect attempted to flee the scene. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sakila became unresponsive at the scene and was transported by ambulance to the Mater Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
He was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo but grew up in Galway and Dublin.
A video of the incident has been circulating online in which it appears a number of security guards restrained the man face down on the ground.

Gardaí told BBC News NI that investigations into "all circumstances" are continuing and there are "no significant updates".
The incident has also been referred to Fiosrú, Ireland's police ombudsman, for investigation.

INAR said the case "appears" to have "hallmarks of a case of excessive use of force".
"The death of a black man in such circumstances is extremely worrying, and we urge the authorities to thoroughly investigate all of the circumstances leading to this man's death, in order to ensure minority ethnic community confidence in the criminal justice system."
The Special Rapporteur, Dr Ebun Joseph, said the social media footage circulating is causing "significant distress, fear, and outrage across many communities, particularly among Black and minority ethnic communities".
In a letter to An Garda Siochana, the Irish justice minister and Fiosrú - which has been seen by BBC News NI - Joseph said: "The scenes depicted, including the disproportionate and unnecessary level of force used during Mr Sakila's restraint, are deeply disturbing and raise urgent and serious questions which require comprehensive examination."
The incident happened outside Arnotts, one of Dublin's best-known department stores.

A spokesperson for the retailer said "everyone" at the retailer "is deeply saddened" by his death and extended "heartfelt sympathies" to his family, his friends, and the wider Congolese community in Ireland.
"No loss of life should ever be the outcome of a retail security incident," they said, adding it recognises the "deep hurt and concern this tragedy has caused".
The spokesperson said Arnotts is cooperating with police and conducting a "full review" with the security firm that provides security in store.
They added that they cannot make any further public comment while the garda investigations remains active and are "committed" to ensuring that the facts are established.

What happened at the protest?

Honore Kamegni , a Green Party Councillor from Cork, told the protest about coming to Ireland in 2002 from Cameroon seeking safety.
"I found a safe land for myself and my family," he said.

"I found Ireland safe and welcoming.
"We are here this morning to ensure what happened to Yves Sakila should not happen again in this country."
Fine Gael Councillor Yemi Adenuga urged the crowd to intervene in situations and "speak" to prevent danger, if it is safe to do so.
"Today we're not asking, we're demanding.
"Our lives matter and it would be sad to see this happen again on the streets of Dublin".

Walter Kabangu, who is former vice-president of the Congolese Community in Ireland, and went to the same school as Yves Sakila, was among those who attended an earlier vigil on Tuesday.
He told BBC Radio Foyle's North West Today programme that it was incredibly difficult to watch the social media footage involving his school friend.

"Mostly shocking, just seeing the images and seeing someone you used to see back in school in your younger days and then seeing them have such a demise.
"It's just a very sad situation that has taken place and something that I find quite regrettable and something that shouldn't have taken place.
"It's such a tragedy that has impacted our community and is something that has been a shock and such a very saddening moment for the Congolese community."

What's the political reaction been?

Taoiseach (Irish PM) Micheál Martin, and other political leaders, have called for a full investigation.
"My deepest sympathies go out to his family, and to the wider Congolese community," Martin said.
"The situation will have to be thoroughly investigated, and needs to be thoroughly investigated.
"I don't want to prejudice the outcome of that investigation but I think a lot of people are clearly very concerned about what has transpired here."

Irish justice minister Jim O'Callaghan said there must be a "thorough garda investigation".
Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns called the social media video "deeply concerning" and said there must be a "full and comprehensive investigation into what happened".

While I try not to rage about how dumb that was have something more amusing. Th Greens are again seething in Scotland because a fringe party also has the word Green in their name. This time they're so irate they're demanding the head of the electoral commission resign.

The Scottish Greens have claimed that they lost out on a seat at the Holyrood election because a fringe party with a similar name tricked voters.
The Greens say Independent Green Voice (IGV), founded by a former Ukip organiser, cost the party an MSP in Mid Scotland and Fife.
Co-leader Gillian Mackay said the Electoral Commission had failed to take action after a similar issue at the 2021 election, and called on the organisation's chief executive Vijay Rangarajan to resign.
The Electoral Commission said it was satisfied there were "clear and sufficient differences" between the party names and logos.
The Greens won a record 15 seats at the election, but they believe they would have won another in Mid Scotland and Fife had IGV not stood for election in the area.
Mackay's party says IGV intentionally confused voters by choosing a similar name and including the word "green" in its logo.
The Greens, who returned one MSP in the region, were just 869 votes behind the Conservatives, who returned two MSPs.
IGV won 2,490 votes in Mid Scotland and Fife, and about 20,000 votes nationally. The party did not receive any media coverage, did not run a social media campaign and is alleged not to have done any on-the-ground campaigning.

The Greens also allege IGV cost them two seats at the 2021 election in Glasgow and South Scotland.
They said the Electoral Commission - the independent body that oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK - should have taken action.
Mackay said: "It is disgraceful that this has been allowed to happen again, and there must be accountability."
She described IGV as a "spoiler party that has nothing in common with the Scottish Greens and has set out to trick voters".

Calling on the chief executive of the Electoral Commission to resign, Mackay added: "The fact this has been allowed to happen again and again undermines our democracy and the integrity of our election results.

"The Electoral Commission is there to ensure that people get the results they vote for, and they have failed to do so."
The IGV manifesto says it wants to build more social housing, bring down the cost of living and "break the power of the bond markets".
It includes proposals for a public vaccine harms inquiry to investigate "problems and illnesses related to the coronavirus vaccines".
An Electoral Commission spokesperson said: "The law sets criteria for party names, descriptions and emblems, in particular whether it is likely that voters will confuse two parties.
"The law does not prevent more than one party from using the same word in their name, and the UK register has many parties with names containing the same word, such as Democrat, Unionist, National, Green or Socialist"
The commission said it keeps the register of parties under regular review.
The spokesperson added: "Independent Green Voice has been registered since 2003.
"We are satisfied that there are clear and sufficient differences between Independent Green Voice's registered name, descriptions and emblems and those of the Scottish Green Party.

"It is for voters to judge a party's manifesto and policy positions, not the Electoral Commission."
Independent Green Voice has been contacted for comment.

Green voters being too retarded to know the difference is entirely plausible. I won't say it aloud if I expected them to vote for me though.

In re the footy and wogs who play it, it reminded me of a bit from a recent article I had found quite illuminating; this was on the subject of formerly USAID-employed workers, and while most of the article focused on those who were un- or underemployed, this was an example of one who did have work in an NGO (which he founded); while it’s the US and basketball, it wouldn’t surprise me now to learn there are people doing similar for the UK and football.
Already happens. I know Sheffield United had some sort of link with a team in China that was then called Chengdu Blades (‘Blades’ being the nickname for Sheff Utd). Sheff Utd got a grand total of one player up to first team standards from it, if memory serves. And he was shit and barely played.

Most of the big Prem teams have established links with other teams, whether lower down in the English divisions (good for loaning out those not playing regularly) and further afield. Ireland is often a hunting ground, but links are much further afield now. The amount of players from Timbuktu or wherever in England has inevitably led to scouts heading over to wherever the good foreign player came from, to see if he has any mates they can profit from.

Big clubs can afford to buy up any and all potential young talent. It prevents other clubs from signing them, and it’s incredibly enticing to a young, foreign player. The majority of them end up going nowhere but the likes of Carlisle United on loan, but it’s all money and fame (and nothing about Carlisle or their history). Bonus points for it being some sort of charitable foundation or development abroad, I guess. How does it help young English players? It doesn’t. But they’re all privileged and should get to the bottom of the pile for inner city mystery kids who want to flash the cash and live like a rap star via football. Again, fuck any history or culture of the clubs they play for.

It’s sad all the way down.

I've never been a fan of football, but from what I understand, isn't the point of international sports to prove which countries produce the best players, or at least to have friendly competition on a yearly basis? If Ireland vs England, or Italy vs Spain are just different versions of Abdul vs Muhammed, then what are we proving here exactly? What's the point?
National teams with shit leagues (like Wales or Ireland or Slovakia etc) can claim Mo and Djib as their own and make their country’s results and standing better. That’s all. Fuck all to do with history and culture. Ditto for third generation Africans here who rock up to the Moroccan or Nigerian or Congolese football associations and say they want to play. They know they’re not good enough for England, so they think they can represent Liberia or wherever, despite their only experience of those countries being weird foods that grandma cooks.

Everyone wants to win, and few responsible care how it happens. And why would they, when there’s so much profit to be made?

The closure of all the asylums across the world has been an unmitigated disaster for humanity.
It sure has. Half the fuckers are hanging around public toilets in their underwear, the other half are running various countries around the world and are on track to kill us all in a third world war very soon. Rubber cells for all of them.

I never thought I’d understand the men who demand a link to random women’s Only Fans accounts based just on a picture, but here we are.

Also, how is it that this guy looks like a capeshit hero? Give him a big hammer and some background CGI and he could be the Thor/Parliament crossover the world really needs.

I saw that photo and assumed Reform had a trans candidate. Then I saw the name.

I've no idea what the fellow is like, it's wrong to judge people on their appearance, he might be perfectly pleasant. But this is Kiwifarms after all and I look at him and feel like I am seeing someone in a wig.

Nah, he spends his weekends singing ‘Livin On A Prayer’ semi-badly with his rawwwk covers band. Or he dons knee shorts and tries to be like Barney from Napalm Death but with a better nose.
