A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Thatcher started the rot in football by treating us (fans who go to matches) like the enemy. Top level football is now entirely manufactured to appeal to viewing audiences on tv in Africa, China and the US. Ticket prices to actually go to a game are extortionately expensive, and most games limit tickets to those who are registered with a specific club website and who have a previous history of ticket purchases. Away games? Unless you buy home and away tickets regularly you’ll never get one. Gone are the days of a family going to the football, unless you have an entire wage you can piss away on entertainment. If you want food or drink in a ground you’ll queue forever and pay through the nose for it, you can’t take alcohol into the stands, and many grounds don’t even accept cash now, it’s card only (or pre-paid cards that can only be used in the ground).

The game, the grounds and the fans have all been remade for a tv audience abroad to buy into what they think is a risqué British pastime by wearing an £80 shirt and being able to name a few players. Working class kids have almost zero hope of ever getting into the game now, as to do so takes having parents to take you to training camps and youth teams from a single digit age, while bigger clubs buy in players from Africa because it’s far cheaper to do so, then sell them on at a profit. Players born in Britain to immigrants (or children of immigrants) choose to play for whatever foreign team their relatives have passports for, as there’s no hope of getting into the England team and everyone wants to get on tv and make a profit. Foreign leagues are gutted of talent and will never improve as their good players all move to the U.K., Spain, Germany to make wads of cash. The top clubs in the U.K. aren’t allowed to fail because so much money is at stake (see: Man City and their financial irregularities ignored). Money is the only thing to guarantee success now - no more local players playing for pride, the badge has no more meaning than the McDonalds logo. Throw enough millions at a club endlessly to pay for wages and you too can be the most successful. We’re a step or two away from making clubs brands that can be moved away from their home and play anywhere, because identity is now a brand and not history and local culture.

I could rant all day on this, it makes me so incredibly angry to see our game sold off to rich cunts while talented British kids have to sit at home smoking weed and wearing a rip-off shirt because there’s no way they can ever be involved in playing for or supporting their local team. I love the sport, but goddamn do I want the three foreigner rule back, for a start. It’s not racist when it means every country - Scotland included. It’d be far better for leagues in other countries, too, whose fans must fucking hate losing all their players to some far off land where they’ll never be able to watch them play live again.

And I fucking hate people getting obscenely rich off the back of our national sport, when the majority of fans can’t afford to go to matches (or even watch them in a pub). Footballers have a short career, yes, but they’re perfectly able to learn other trades like other human beings. No need to pay them millions a year, it’s obscene. They’re not out saving lives like firemen. Sky tv has ruined the game with moving kick offs for their broadcasts and hyping every little thing they can. The whole football industry needs to change. This shit is unsustainable. Our identity and history shouldn’t be a plaything of the rich foreign elite.

Football violence? lol. We get banned for ‘poverty chants’ now like calling scousers bin dippers. Players are forced to wear rainbows for whatever deviant notice-me sexuality month those running the game demand, and there are apps designed for you to grass up a person in a specific seat number for saying or chanting something you don’t like. Whatever happened to that Newcastle lass who was banned for life because she posted TERF stuff on X, entirely unrelated to football? Those running football wouldn’t know local identity and passion if it hit them with a rolled up Pink ‘Un. We sit down and cheer politely or we’re escorted out of the ground.

Fuck those who run football. I hate what they’ve done to the game I love.

Isn't this a thing in America? I think American football/baseball clubs do that. I agree, it'll come to the UK within our lifetimes.

Edit:

Maybe it'll be like universities or something. Man City will set up a "franchise" in Nigeria.

I've never understood how English teams get penalized and heavily for innocuous banter, but Celtic and Ranger (and hibbies and hearts) are allowed to. Well, you know if you've ever seen a derby game. Good Lord.

Best footie game I ever watched was Pollock Juniors in Glasgow. Cracking playing, cheap tickets and fantastic crowd.

Football has lost it's national identity the same way cricket has. People just aren't watching it the way they used to. Kids aren't playing it because they have other forms of entertainment. Can the working class even afford tickets any more?
The real interesting thing that nobody seems to point out is that back in the 90s you could watch so much football for free. If you were a poor, working class kid you could still watch Man United or Arsenal or Liverpool in the Champions League on ITV. That used to be how you built football fans if you didn't have family who were football nuts, you'd have a kid starting off as a glory hunting fan before deciding to support their closest Premier League team and maybe deciding to support their closest team in general.

The removal of that has basically raised the bar of entry for football in general, if you're not a kid hooked on football from going to games or watching era defining moments like Liverpool in Istanbul or United winning the treble then you're never going to get the spark to continue watching football.

People can blame tiktok or video games or the adhd generation etc. for not watching games all they want, but the real meat and bones is that for 10 years the average poor kid can only watch the occasional FA cup match or international matches or the Champions League final (which isn't free to view this year). This is going to lead to the death spiral of British kids getting interested in football at the expense of Ngobu in Ghana who gets to watch Premier League matches for pennies because the international market and poor black kids matter more than poor white kids.

It's over, and people haven't realised it's over yet because there's still enough millenial paypigs keeping the gravy train afloat, and even when they're gone they'll be replaced by Ali from Dubai coming here to watch Arsenal vs Chelsea in a £7k VIP box seat.

For now, I detest football et al for its ability to soak up and dispel harmlessly (or harmfully depending on your point of view) the tribal energy of the native British that really ought to be focused on our survival as a culture.

There will time to kick a ball about after the browns are remigrated.

While I agree with the comments about the wrong direction football is going here’s some context.
An adults man united season ticket is £800.
Championship teams about £400.
Most teams allow you to pay in installments. It’s expensive, it’s not restrictive (yet).
23 home matches a season in the championship £17 a match. Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours minimum wage after tax.

For a family its definitely restrictive, for a lad on a college or apprenticeship job its not.

And the opinion is definitely changing in the stands about mugumbo more people are realising that’s an opportunity taken from a British lad.

In relation to the trans toilet ban I remember @Null saying something to the effect of the national shock of the Jimmy Savile case led to a heightened "anti-nonce" radar which manifested itself through anti trans legislation. I do think that has some merit to it, insane how public perception of troons in the UK is probably worse now than it was in the 80s.
And he's wrong because no one gave a fuck about Jimmy Savile. Jimmy changed nothing, and didn't do anything every other BBC presenter wasn't doing. Anti-savile is all virtue signalling with no action taken to prevent it happening again or to chase down the people who enabled him. He's a punch line to a joke now and he neither increased the hate for nonces nor the attempts to stop them dead or alive. Our current prime minister just had a scandal where a known pedophile with links to the world's most famous convicted pedophile wad given one of the most powerful roles in our country.. That's how much Savile changed the influence and response to celebrity pedophiles and the law going after them.

Troons were always known as sex pests but the law made it illegal to call them out. I took a ban on Twitch this week for saying gender identity isn't real and people who think that way are sick. Something that was illegal to say in the UK 3 years ago, but the courts decided was legal and required to be legally enforced this week. So now more people are saying it out in the open and more people are taking hits on social media making them angrier and more willing to speak up about it.
wow the Irish catholics and their decendants don't get along with scottish presbytarians!? they would be fighting at cricket or hockey matches if there was no football
You realize there are Scottish people who won't even eat off the same colour plates as their rivals team wears yea? It''s a deep part of their culture that cricket and hockey don't fit.
Genuinely what the fuck? Your right-wing party, everybody.
What bothers me is he wants to torture the boy with one of the worst methods possible but the girl just has her lunch ruined? I would like to think if we want justice in our country if two people commit a crime worthy of torture then both of them get tortured, not letting the one with tits off because.... er... tits?

Local teams are just as bad and blacks make it way harder for white kids to get pushed. Black kids hitting puberty earlier makes them bigger and stronger a year or two in advance. So you're not going to pick the smaller white kid who's a year behind on puberty, so all the team slots and training slots go to foreigners and the natives are left out in the cold.
I've never understood how English teams get penalized and heavily for innocuous banter, but Celtic and Ranger (and hibbies and hearts) are allowed to. Well, you know if you've ever seen a derby game. Good Lord.
Like how wrestling needed to be destroyed, the upper classes do everything they can to destroy the working class in England. Football is something to rally around so it has to be policed or it might be used to radicalize the white population in the governments eyes.

Watching any sports these days is a nightmare because it's all mercenary to streaming networks. Every year it changes hands and can end up on Amazon or some sky package you have to pay extra for. Your champions league will be on a different platform to your main league and the international events are on a third one. It's a full time hobby keeping track of where to watch things unless you pirate it and sports piracy is a bit harder to do since the streams are usually over loaded.
An adults man united season ticket is £800.
For £800 I could go to the zoo and see the monkeys playing with a ball well over 20 times. I think I'll spend the money on something else.

He's just pulled out the race according to Politics UK and LBC, the Greens have been approached with 'a story' about him. Not looking good brev (X)
Chris Kennedy, Green candidate for Makerfield, pulled out of the race because he shared posts describing the attack on the Jewish ambulances in London as a "false flag'' (X) He apologised and removed the shares.
The Reform candidate in Makerfield, Robert Kenyon, was accused of tweeting "foreign criminals are invading our country" and responded "am I wrong?".
Perhaps someone else can better elucidate this thought, but one usually only removes a comment or apologises if one believes that it is wrong, untrue, or hurtful, or that one is wrong for doing so. I've never apologised for calling my former housemate a greedy cock-guzzling bitch with low moral standards because she is one, even if it isn't very feminist of me to do so, because she deserves it, the cock-guzzling bitch. Lolcows here delete tweets and posts when they get called out for lies and want to hide from it. Perhaps Reform just don't believe in SW1 squeak-clean politics and don't care that Glenn Gibbons wants to melt Nigerians to fill potholes, or the Green party knows that retweeting false flag jews bad constantly IS a bad look they have to hide (especially after Polanski was taken to the corner by the head of the Met Police) and don't have the confidence or charm to ignore it (like some of Phil the Greek's more colourful comments).

EDIT Nick Lowles (HOPE NOT HATE, X) called for the Greens to be open about why he stepped down. No more 'personal reasons'. Chris Kennedy, former Green candidate for Makerfield, shared posts from 'Hugh Anthony', who describes himself as a 'proud ethno-nationalist. Christ Kennedy of the Greens shared unironic British neo-Nazi posts. Hugh Anthony is the ''fruity goose stepper'', the faggier Nick Fuentes.
The Green Party needs to be honest about the reasons their Makerfield candidate has stood down.

Rather than taking the opportunity to call out his conspiratorial nonsense, pushing the “personal reasons” line makes them complicit in a cover-up.

Chris Kennedy stood down after his social media posts claiming the attack on ambulances in Golders Green was a false flag operation were exposed
An hour after his comment, the Guardian reported that the Greens had apologised.
The Green party’s candidate for the Makerfield byelection has withdrawn from the ballot within hours of being announced.

Chris Kennedy was announced to be running in the seat for the Greens on Thursday morning, but nine hours later the party said he had dropped out, citing “personal and family reasons”.

The Times reported it had approached Kennedy about a series of social media posts he had shared about an attack on Jewish ambulances in north London in April. An Instagram video shared by Kennedy described the arrests of two men over the incident as “total bullshit to keep the false flag flying”, the paper reported.

He also reportedly shared a post by a user named Hugh Anthony, a self-described “proud ethno-nationalist”, which said the response to the Golders Green arson attack in March made “no sense”.
Anthony's tweet in The Times
Anthony wrote: “How does someone manage to burn 3 ambulances, get the entire country in uproar, make the government put 264 more police units into the community, make the King become a patron of a charity, and increase the terror threat level in the UK, only to be put on bail? This makes no sense.”

And they say horseshoe theory isn't real. Hugh Anthony is our Fuentes, homosexual, often ridiculous, you might remember him from the 'our son is radicalized' video a few month back.

Hope Not Hate are campaigning hard for Burnham - they did direct mailers for him, probably exceeding the £700 spending limit for non-party campaigners.

Other news - Five people have been arrested for election fraud in Greater Manchester and the reports are that part of the conspiracy took place in Angela Rayner's kitchen. It's not even 'family voting' or whatever tricky thing, they actually entered fake Muslim independent candidates to split the opposition vote - Telegraph

It’s ridiculous, and I genuinely believe these freaks would find more popular support by just saying: “It’s an opinion and he’s entitled to it… here’s a small list of suspected mossad/israel false flags and other confirmed false flags from governments/communities around the world… make up your own minds, there’s nothing wrong with discussion.”

Jewish institutions would go after them, but it would play better at the polls than the ridiculous backpedaling and deleting a post in cowardice just because a brighter light has been shone on it.

It’s hilarious that they proceeded to announce him as the candidate with seemingly no due diligence. They’re a fundamentally unserious party and should only be mocked. I think Burnham will aim to project an air of legitimacy around them though in case a ‘Stop Reform’ coalition is needed at the next GE.

Hope Not Hate are traitors, and they, along with BLM UK, along with the Open Society Foundation and all the rest of them, should have a huge scythe taken to them if a proper government ever gets in.

To my horror and disgust I have just discovered the Sunday Sport has taken down their online version due to age verification laws coming in

Due to age verification process coming into affect on 25th July we are no longer able to provide a digital edition.

We thank our digital customers for their custom over the years and ask them to contact their local newsagent to deliver/reserve a physical copy going forwards. Any who has made a payment in the last month will be refunded in full.

All future PayPal subscriptions will be cancelled.

We ask customers to cancel their payment to us in their PayPal account AFTER they have received their refund!

I was just sitting down with a cuppa and some jammy dodgers to learn about Andy Burham sex dwarf stealing someone's fiesta. That edition has been off sale for 3 days now. And I wasn't going to give a paki shop £2.20 for it even if it was on sale. So now I'm going to have to pirate it. Someone has got to keep afoot of the sex dwarf fiesta stealing!

Finding crumpled up pages of the Sport near bushes in a field or park as a young lad is a grand old British tradition.

You and I (and many other voters/general public) would respect them slightly more for saying it, but NGOs and charities and the media (like Hope not Hate) would rape them to death with an anti-semitism campaign and then continue raping the body. It would also encourage retard browns to keep attacking Jews in London once the muslim Greens are basically given the go ahead to describe every incident as a 'false flag'. Incredibly risky play in this day and age.
Owen Jones might be next on the chopping block because he's telling the Greens they need to vet how many anti-semetics are getting in after the Chris Kennedy retweets were found, and telling the Greens/those leftists they need to stop engaging with 'jews bad' conspiracy theorists. Polanski was caught liking the tweet, again. (X)

It's the anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing, where 22 people were killed and hundreds injured by an Islamic terrorist. I'm sure we all have stories about that day; I sat my GCSEs and my train home was cancelled because of a suspicious bag found on the platform that we had to wait for the bomb squad to come deal with. I've never been able to stomach all the criticism of Ariana Grande in the years afterwards, even tho she is a homewrecker and a strange one, because I imagine that having ISIS terrorists blow up your concert of little girls on nights out with their parents and being unable to talk about it would psychologically destroy you as a person.
I like that Martyn's Law makes sure events have plans to deal with terrorists, and doesn't require the government to deal with them.

@Heinrich Maneuver

You’re right of course, and maybe I stretched it a bit with the ‘here’s a list of previous false flags…’, but what are we (our society/politics) to do then? Just keep prostrating ourselves before the Jews? A group that the vast majority of the electorate will never encounter let alone become reasonably acquainted with?

We all know they wield this insidious influence, we all know the cries of ‘antisemitism’ are bullshit, and with Israel’s continued escapades in Gaza providing more and more examples of horseshoe theory on the left/right with regard to the Jews every day, I’d say there’s never been a better time to tell them to fuck off (and receive public apathy or even approval for doing so).
