A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I don't entirely believe in the concept of 'false flagging' (mostly because everyone and their mother claims false flag for every incident that happens nowadays) but I would not be surprised if certain agitators were allowed to go and cause trouble. It would also give Keir reason to stay on as leader for a strong and stable government or whatever the saying was. It's been too cold these last few days for a real hot summer (Southport riots, when I had to buy a fan it was that fucking hot) and there's rain forecast. The antics of the Dutch protestors recently (burning down a school that was supposed to house migrants) as well as the French police do make me think we are reaching 'when, not if' territory.

Wes's letter. The faggot got out sassed by Kween Kemi at the dispatch over his pathetic little leadership challenge, lmfao.

"Labour MPs and Labour Unions want the debate about what comes next to be a battle of ideas, not of personalities or petty factionalism. It needs to be broad, and it needs the best possible field of candidates. I support that approach and I hope you will facilitate this."

Echoed by this, From Beth Rigby
Streeting ally: "Wes has numbers but taken decision not to trigger challenge/immediate contest as clear that wouldn’t be right thing for party. Keir needs to set out a timetable and allow widest possible contest. It’s the only way to rebuild from this mess."

He definitely didn't get the numbers to launch a leadership bid against Starmer.

I knew the average Labour MP was a completely wet faggot but I had no idea it'd be this pathetic where 80 votes to trigger a leadership battle are split between two or more parties meaning there's no leadership battle.
They're basically all trying to avoid this outcome:

If I'm Kier I'm resigning before this protest because my gut feeling is that a cuzzie is gonna drive a car into it or start shooting. It has everything required for a white hot summer of violence and everyone saw how big the last Tommy protest was. It's probably the largest target bar a world cup final.

IF everything is completely fine and nothing happens then it still stands to be the definitive picture of the Starmer era: police completely fucking overwhelmed in every direction by a sea of protesters.
A van of peace at the UTK march will give starmer 1. A raging hard on because he loathes white people 2. Carte blanche and a justification to force through stuff he's frothing at gash over. He can blame the big bad nasty far right.
Rather than speculating about it, why don't you watch the Starkey video ? It addresses everything regarding the march -

Its purpose
Security around it
The significance of the date
How they negotiated with the Police and agreed to alternative routes and asked for a non-line-of-sight with the counter protestors ( something the "anti-fascists" insisted on having - who is being confrontational ? )
It seems to be designed as a peaceful show of strength for patriots and to mobilise the British to vote. Twice as many didn't vote as voted Labour at the last election.

I know a lot on here don't like / trust Tommy Robinson, but you should watch the video and form an opinion. I think a lof of people assume things about him. I think he's been educated in the last few years by a few wise heads and is playing a more nuanced game now.

In the nicest way possible, knowing that the police have OK'd it has only made my suspicions of something happening go UP not down.

The police will be able to do the square root of fuck all if the counter protestors start moving elsewhere as the alternative is that the Police end up being kettled themselves in between two sides. The police aren't going to start wailing on cuzzies with batons if they step out of line, they're going to fall back in panic.

Yea but if you tell them that then the joke doesn't make sense?
No it doesn't.

The jokes comes from the lack of awareness of the modern meaning. Like a sweet elderly person at the dinner table loudly expressing a great fondness for faggots. Referring, of course, to the traditional english pork dish while being blisfully unaware of the alternate meaning, refering to a homosexual man.

Knowing of the existance of pork faggots does not ruin the joke, as the naive cluelessness of the speaker is still the punchline.

For those who've not seen, there's shenanigans afoot in Worcestershire Council. The Tories decided to form a rainbow coalition with the Lib Dems, Greens and Independents in an effort to cuck Reform, who have been running a minority council. After 3 hours someone at Tory HQ has finally realised that this is a fucking retarded idea and have suspended the knobhead in charge claiming none of this was authorised and that the deal won't go ahead.

'right wing' parties in Europe will form instant alliances with their 'sworn' blood enemies the split second an actually mildly right wing party comes along. It's so gross .

Jonathan Pie weighs in with the scathing political commentary of "REFORM MEAN AND EVIL! NAZIS EVERYWHERE, LABOUR NEEDS TO CONNECT TO PEOPLE OR THE PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE THEIR LYING EYES!". Hope he gets cancer.
I am a little surprised to see this preachy cunt is still going, I suppose it’s somewhat comforting to know his schtick hasn’t changed in over a decade.

The most irritating people alive are the people who still, somehow, after all this time, believe that he's an actual BBC news reporter 'going off-script with an epic rant!!1'

He had a good take after Brexit (maybe calling people we disagree with bigoted gammons isn't the best approach). But I've watched lots of his videos since then and it's a bit sad how he basically seems to have gone back on that.

Found an update on that kid who had his chin impaled on a fence spike by the police a few months back.

Police Cover Up the Case of the Impaled Teenager [PoeMBKhtxZw].webm
On the one hand the police behaved appallingly. On the other, living somewhere that's held hostage by gangs of yoofz congregating is hell on earth.

That said, perhaps respect for the police is at an all time low because of malpractice and cover ups like this. The days of your local bobby who knew everyone and their circumstances, and who was in the force to make their community a better, safer place are long gone, and this is the end result.

His type only ever reign in their genuine disdain and hatred of the other side when they want to try and be sly. It's always performative.

Big Ange has paid what she owed, so she can theoretically run if\when Streeting launches.
I'm genuinely disappointed with her. I assumed she had managed to find someone willing to carry out some travesty of justice to rule that actually she never owed the money given how much her allies were bigging up it would all be no longer a concern come May.

Instead she's just paid it off and is acting as though this now means everyone has to act as though she was not a tax dodger in the first place.
