A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

and that somehow it gains us some kind of leverage which I don't really see how?
We decide what the outcome is, Trump wants a certain outcome. We can use that as leverage.
Don't fucking care about some Danish land when shit is so bad here. Sorry, Kieth.
Ever wonder why shit is so bad here? Starmer is a symptom, not the disease.
Anyway bro, get a better dealer.
Wasn't funny the first time, maybe it will be the third time. Give it a try.

And that outcome being: WE FUCKING PAY FOR NIGGERS TO TAKE IT.

I seriously hand on heart do not think that Trump nor the US Administration in its entirety will do anything regarding Chagos other than calling our PM a smacker until he either folds because he's a fucking pussy who u-turns like there's no tomorrow or he continues to go full retard. Other than that? Not putting much faith into them caring about it enough to be willing to appease us. Perhaps he'll finally start strong arming us until the government caves? I don't really think we're getting any kind of "leverage" out of this my nigga.

No you're right, it's yanks sticking their noses where it don't belong instead of our politicians being so fucking above the disgrace that is British society that they want to impose a completely new idea of what being British is upon the country that is merely a remix of shit they've seen on Twitter. Should we be doing nothing but blaming America for every fucking American-originated sin that is going on here when it is our own fucking politicians who are happily importing this nightmare?

Don't get it twisted, with or without American influence they would have tried doing something egregious either way and our politicians are responsible for the direction this country is headed, not a bunch of blue haired yank judges posting about muh why pepo dont season dey chicken.

So anyway, I still don't really give a shit about some land where the Danes are trying to kill off the native populace. Trump taking it would probably be a great thing for them tbh.

Balls on that kid calling the plods a pair of wank stains. That's hate speech right there. 20 years hard labor.
What it should be is a clip around the ear and put in a cell until his parents come to collect him. It should then be a bollocking from his parents for the shame he has caused them. But of course we don't live in a civilised society any more.

They won't. If the deal goes through and the US feels it doesn't have sufficient security guarantees, they'll simply seize the island and likely exclude us from using it. At which point, we'll be stuck paying mauritius billions for nothing.

The Times is reporting that Andrew Gwynne is set to resign as MP for Gordon & Denton, with the intent for Andy Burnham to run in his place in an attempt to return to Parliament.

If true this by election is going to be a shit show and not likely to be a walk over for Burnham.

Which I would be saying regardless of the constituency.

All the midget talk reminded me that about 10 years ago I walked round a corner in a supermarket and nearly collided with a person mcnugget who only had one arm. Was a double whammy of surprise for me and I kind of just froze for a second. The midget was clearly fed up of people reacting to him like I did, so I said sorry and carried on walking.

It's worth mentioning, again, that Sussex (and Kent) still does not have reliable water. Rachel Milfward (Green Deputy leader and MP for the area) on the 15th;
It's been WILD here in Sussex - people having to drive miles, sit in gridlocked traffic & queue for bottled water - to flush, clean, wash, cook & drink. Vulnerable people weren't delivered to for too long. Outrageous @SouthEastWater3 chose profit over infrastructure investment. Time to go.
She opposed migrants being kept in Crowborough barracks due to ''poor living conditions'' and an overall concern for their wellbeing. As of the 21st she is still tweeting about the taps not working.

>The thing that doesn't happen happened again.
And of course it's all young men. Yet retards like Banksy will pretend it's women and children. And to add salt to the wound, the local council had no say, meaning this decision was completely anti-democratic. What solutions do people have left when democracy fails?(this is rhetorical, I think we know the answer)

I remember waiting for a train at a train station and seeing some brownoid (likely a Paki) walking around with practically stumps for legs.
Like, he had feet and all that, it's just the legs itself was basically non-existent.
I've also seen a brownoid at an airport with such resoundingly fucked legs he was moving around with a cane and still doing a walk you'd see straight from the Ministry of Funny Walks.

Rickets?

they have some of the most fucking insane genetic issues I've ever heard of. there's those two kids who are literally plants and stop being able to produce energy and function once the sun sets and get paralysed by the dark. PT Burnham would have had a field day over there

It's going to be hilarious when Reform wins the seat, and Labour has to seethe over their shit leader knowing he is in real time suiciding their chances for any seat win.

We know the second Starmer senses Burnham will oust him he will call a GE out of spite. We know that he is psychotic and petty. This helps Reform in 2 ways: it gives them time to oust the wets, which I think Nigel is about to do. Or secondly, even if a GE is called Reform will nuke them out of orbit.

Seeing Starmer pull a Macron would be funny but a prime minister who isn't also a sitting MP would make for an interesting dynamic. They'd be force to call a by election somewhere and force the local labor leader to step down in his place.

There's a lot of push-polling to create the idea that the greens will take it in a hypothetical election, but I reckon that's over-estimated. Reform currently poll second in any reasonable poll. I suspect if Burnham takes it, it'll be with an incredibly slim lead.

When I posted that I didn't realise this seat itself is in Greater Manchester. I don't know how popular a mayor he is but this opportunity does seem tailor made for him.

But it's going to be a huge juicy target for Reform. A few months ago I could have imagined the Tories being happy to take a back seat to fuck up labour, but tensions between Reform and the Tories seem higher now - not sure how good the optics would be to do that.
