A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

If you really want to have a bad day, check military casualty reports from Afghanistan and notice how despite Europe getting involved, the absolute drop off in casualties after US and UK stats is harrowing. It's clear that the Germans and Italians did the square root of fuck all apart from hang out in their barracks, and these are some of the key players that would defend us from Russia???

Regarding the experiment:

The last couple of months, I've seen more muslims wandering between the shelves than any time in my life. Mostly men, in their stupid pyjama robe things. They must have started shipping them in to social housing somewhere nearby. I can run an experiment now, though. Last minute trip out of the country (wife's relatives have invited us up to parts unknown) means I'll get to compare the change after a two week gap. I wouldn't be surprised if it looks like little mogadishu when I get back.

Happy to report that things are not as bad as they could have been, but comparing here to where I stayed over christmas is night and day. Almost literally. You may or may not have guessed (because I made it pretty obvious) that these parts unknown were in Sweden (because I was hardly going to turn down free flights and two weeks of pork and vodka for christmas). They have their own immigration problems, of course. I know for a fact that there's an immigrant enclave near where I was staying, but it seems to have shrunk since the last time I was there. That aside, it was nice. Homogenous and familiar, though swedes are very obviously swedish in the face (they all look like potatoes that have been left to dry out in the sun). It was quiet, but the thing that really stuck out was just how empty Sweden is. Where I live is relatively small and out of the way, but it has always felt a bit crowded, especially with the new developments around and about over the years. The whole country always feels crowded. Returning from a place like that feels like I've dropped onto the set of Soylent Green. It makes the back end of the trossachs feel like it had standing room only.

So anyway, the disaster has not struck as badly as I feared, though there are still too many muslims wandering around Morrisons in their stupid clothes. I fully expect there'll be more of them in the next few months, all wearing fucking ugly puffer jackets and scarves over their arab paedophile worshipping gowns even when it's above zero. I hope they all freeze to death.

The Senedd came up with its own 'figures' which said that 20mph speed limits work.

The areas which they surveyed had been 20mph for years before - around hospitals, schools etc.

Making parts of the A470 20mph instead of 30mph didn't work - in fact there's villages along Wales' main north-south artery which have vehicles passing at 50mph literally at their front garden.

Nothing is going to be done about them, strangely enough.

Agree with everything but the last bit, cos I’m a sappy bastard really and don’t want that for anyone. But the attitude of their political and economic elite is really frightening. It’s an empire on the decline and armed to the teeth (assuming some work). It’s not going to go quietly, and we’re all going to suffer as a result.

US and Russian military doctrines are different for geopolitical reasons. Russia's military leans more towards defensive and near neighbour capability as befits a nation with very limited sea access, extensive land neighbours and which historically has been attacked more on its borders than elsewhere. The odd historical excursion to India or wherever aside, Russia mostly focuses on its immediate neighbourhood. It has long range missiles but those primarily serve as deterrence as Russia isn't really set up for long range military occupations. The USA on the other hand, is an unassailable island nation with extensive water access and whilst it has a couple of very long land borders they are to just a couple of nations neither able to stand up to it in the slightest. Consequently, its military approach focuses around force projection - carrier groups, a devastating airforce, hyper-trained elite strike forces. And a very mobile regular army for taking and holding places in conjunction with the former.

Russia's approach seems to work quite well but is obviously restricted in scope. They're very hard to beat in their neighbourhood and have sufficient deterrents that it would cost the West greatly to actually try to militarily assault Russia. Not least of which the real possibility of it going nuclear. But contrary to Barmy Starmy's claims, their ability to occupy Britain is nil. They could hit us with missiles but they wouldn't because there's nothing to gain from it and they'd get missiles right back. The USA approach works quite well also, but begins to peter out quickly against actual peer forces. They could hurt China, there's no way they could conquer China. Anymore than China could conquer the USA. They'd be like two guys on sofas throwing things at each other, neither able to get up and cross to the other's. The USA can't even exert their will against Afghanistan solely through military power. The military component was critical, but to actually control the country required suborning of local peoples, buying off local warlords to serve as proxies and, to be blunt, ignoring large parts of the country and sitting in Kabul.

Where does that leave Britain? Well, the USA protects Britain, but from what? Not Russia. Not European powers. The biggest threats to the UK are globalist corporations exporting jobs elsewhere and mass immigration. An Abrams never stopped either of those.

Starmer is serving his masters with this. There's no supportable case how it serves the British people. Building up our army might be good for other nationalistic reasons, but Starmer just wants bodies to throw into Ukraine in the hope that Russians will drone strike them and give more reason to escalate. Something Russia clearly doesn't want.

Former Leeds United and Wales midfielder Terry Yorath has died at the age of 75 following a short illness.

Yorath scored 11 goals in 199 appearances for Leeds, his first professional club, in a nine-year spell from 1967.

He won the First Division title with Leeds in 1974 and earned a runners-up medal in the FA Cup, European Cup and Cup Winners' Cup.

He played 59 times for Wales, 42 as captain, before leading them to the brink of the 1994 World Cup finals as manager, only to see his team beaten 2-1 by Romania in their final qualifier.

Yorath had spells as a player with Coventry City, Tottenham Hotspur, Vancouver Whitecaps and Bradford City, before finishing his playing career with a solitary appearance for Swansea City.

The father of BBC Sport presenter Gabby Logan, Yorath was a player-coach of Bradford on the day of the Valley Parade fire in 1985, which killed 56 fans and injured 270.

Sad to see. He was a good man, very deeply wounded by the Bradford fire that haunted him for the rest of his life. His son died at age 15 from a previously undiagnosed heart issue, while playing football in the back garden. If you’ve ever seen interviews with Terry Yorath on the later anniversaries of the Bradford fire, his horror at what he witnessed was so raw, even after 30+ years and more.

America is not an ally, it is not a friend and their government and corporations should be wiped out.
There are a group of yanks that I have a great fondness for, who are of the same values and understanding as the brits, aussies, canadians and kiwis who are humble people who want to grill and build a society they're proud of.
