A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I was having an argument conversation with my green voting mate the other day (other mate is a raging Nat and blames Westmonster for everything). His stance is that we should take refugees because:
  • It's the West's fault they are refugees because we bombed them for being terrorists
  • We CAN take care of them but all the resources to do so are just being hoarded by the elites
  • They are woman and children

There is really nothing going on in his head other than it morally good and therefore we should do it. Fuck radically changing the ethnic and cultural make up of an area, accept all the refugees NOW. I fucking hate socialists so much because they don't give a shit about national identity. They just see Nationalism as an obstacle in their road to global unity and complete societal control.

Why is Gen Z so cucked? The globalisation of culture might be a part and the fact they don't want their mate deported. Hopefully having to share a classroom with loud obnoxious niggers and a diet of IG Reels will cause Gen Alpha to become more based than us.

Hearing from these parts that the anger towards the WRU over the axing of a region may result in players withdrawing from the Welsh team, or going on strike.

This would mean that Wales would not play in any of the upcoming Six Nations matches if things cannot be sorted between the Board and the Players.

First of all, welcome to the 'Farms and to the British part of the site.

IMO, the reason why Gen Z is so cucked (or a similar rhyming word) is due to MHW or Mental Hard Wiring - they are told that certain things are facts and cannot understand nor comprehend that their worldview could ever be wrong or incorrect in any way.

The first big example of this that I can personally think of is when Galileo discovered that the Earth revolved around the Sun - this was the 'wrongthink' of the day and he was made to suffer for daring to go against the established order and correct thinking of the day by committing heresy; being made to apologise for what he had said and live under house arrest until he died. Sounds familiar?

The other example of this is when Academics and 'Smart People' are so sure of themselves that it hurts them to ever be thought of as wrong - again, they band together as there is strength in numbers and the more people that believe something the less likely it is that those who disagree can ever be right or ever have their points/thesis/beliefs taken seriously and debated or discussed. In May 1954, Roger Bannister (later Sir Roger Bannister) proved that a mile could indeed be run in four minutes or under (his time was 3 minutes 59.4 seconds). The thinking of the day was that it was impossible for a man to achieve such a feat, but Roger Bannister proved that the Academics were wrong and they accepted this fact - the record has since been bettered many times over.

As somebody who was born Catholic, initially I did struggle as a teenager to deal or cope with the belief that what I believed in was fake - I didn't like my faith being belittled or put down by people, but then I realised that they have the right to their viewpoints as atheists or agnostics or as people who believe that their deity is the number one. Who was I to say they were wrong, but also who were they to say that I was wrong? In the end, I became more open to debate and discussion and also accepted the justified criticism of my faith (though I still blame mankind rather than God or Jesus Christ for the seemingly permanent horrific way of life facing us today). In doing so, I didn't have a hard-wired attitude which would only have made me angry and isolated - much like what the SJW's who worship at the Church of Woke do, where only their way is the acceptable way.

These SJW's believe that they are the right and the righteous, they are told that they are the good and kind and that anybody who opposes them is the enemy (there's a whole argument on are most SJW's people who were rejected by their families, victims of bullying, social outcasts from an early age who were made to feel special etc. which I may delve into at some point in the future). They are told, much like Catholics at the weekly service, that if they are good and obey the rules that theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven - that, or they will be rewarded and have power over people. I am reminded of the following line from the series 'To Catch A Killer' with SJW's:

'All of your life you've been powerless, and now you have power'

Without the hard-wired attitude, they cannot have the power that they crave. I believe it is this more than money, fame, sex or anything else which matters to them - the right to say 'I now control you!'

I guess that if I was an outcast, a reject and had no place in society that I'd be easy prey for those Gods within the SJW 'religion' as my mind would be that malleable and my thirst for revenge on those who had wronged me would be almost insatiable.

I am not saying that your friend is anything like this, and it's good that you can at least debate and talk things through civilly - I have many friends and neighbours who are now backing Plaid because Welsh Labour have failed, but even their votes soon may be on the move to Liberal Democrats or Greens due to Plaid agreeing to back Welsh Labour's budget for 2026 which has been seen by many as an act of extreme cowardice and an aberration by grovelling to a Unionist party.

With people who aren't as hard-wired, there's the chance to talk, debate and discuss - this can only be beneficial to both sides of the coin as perhaps very soon Reform UK or a Libs-Greens coalition will be in charge of the UK and they will have to work with an opposition/shadow Government who will be their complete antithesis.

It will matter a lot if both can work together if we have a national crisis or if we face another global disaster like 9/11 - can both be civil and debate or will we have the problem of 'I will die on this hill...'
