A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

If I was Nigel, my pitch to the electorate would be that we will give £1,000 to every person in the UK for either reparations or to apologise for the pain, suffering and heartache caused by Covid Lockdowns.

This will be a one off non taxable gift and written off by the Government. Axing the Green New Deal and the BBC as well as defunding the more idiotic elements of UKAID will fund it.

After all, we really don't need to fund topless black tranny lesbian disco troupes in Bolivia, do we?

Also, Income Tax would be axed and replaced with tariffs.

All this stems from the retarded Oppressed and Oppressor outlook that's been pushed for decades.

The Africans deserve our hard earned money because they were Oppressed and we were the Oppressors. Just as we "deserve" to be stabbed for being white because it was an Oppressed minority doing the stabbing. All it's resulted in is people becoming numb to the emotional blackmail and getting hacked off with the people pushing it. They ask for "reparations" because they think (rightly of the currently government) that they can guilt us into giving them monies.

It's the same reason we send shit tons of aid to Africa and it's still a shithole, reparations and western monies are so expected it's basically part of African national budgets.

We literally paid reparations by purchasing every single slave in order to end the slave trade. The British Empire was paying off this until around 2015 so if you've ever bought a mars bar as a kid in 2014 you've indirectly paid for the end of the slave trade.

Granted yes, we paid the slave owners, but the result was the freedom of slaves. To demand reparations shows that they don't want freedom, they want gibs. As this basically violates the entire deal we made for the slave trade ending I propose we give every nigger in the UK £3000 on the condition they're deported to Africa and have their citizenship stripped.

I want reparations for the centuries of serfdom (some of, hon hon) muh ancestors endured, just another thing to blame the fr*nch for; they INVENTED f*udalism!

Really though, you cannot put a material price on human suffering, not without doing freaky shit like weregild, if it's outside of living memory everyone is better off not touching it whatsoever. Making it a £££ is a total corruption of everything right and proper, there's an argument to be made the nation has a moral duty to the descendants of former slaves (primarily to send them back to Africa) but a financial one? That's just dirty, and also demeaning; I'd be honestly insulted if a wop tried to pay me off to make up for the colonisation of Britannia.

A politically correct term for "civic nationalism" without having to use the word "nationalism" which in turn allows for it to be even more vague and ultimately mean nothing. Similar to Neoliberalism, which democratises (i,e, popularity contest) morals, a "british value" is something which the British public considers important. However "British" means nothing to them, it's simply a geographic term if anything, describing people who live on the British isles and nothing much else, including anyone who so happens moves to it.

TLDR: "British values" = whatever doesn't make Pakis upset.

Alternatively, British values were a psyop by the Fabien society to create a melting pot.

Kohn and other post war writers only really intended civ nat to apply to the new European (white) states consisting of white people. The conflating of 'nation' (a group of people) with the state (the 'nation' of Britain) was a fucking mistake. Your nationality is your ethnic (or cultural) group, not the country (political body) you are born in or live in.

Also I was taught British values in school, but I never understood why 'democracy' and 'understanding of different faiths and beliefs' were both included; what if my belief and faith is anti-democracy? Huh

The long-term goal seems to be to dismantle the concept of a British people and replace it with a nebulous "idea" of what it means to be British separated from any basis in ancestry or ethnicity.
