A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

It's funny seeing them try to pin this "antisemitism" as coming from the far right. I'm an absolute turboracist and even I can't muster any animosity towards Jews because I almost never see or interact with them. I think I bought an overpriced salt beef sandwich from one of them at a deli near Baker Street about 15 years ago, but I'm not about to go burning a synagogue down over it.

On the other hand I see bin bag ladies every day, making the place look like a complete dump. I know which one I consider to be the more pressing issue.

You do sometimes see the ones with the funny hats in airports. But again, they're not really bothering me.
They’re going to try and tie it in with the hotel protests. They’re going to get a couple of self-hating Jewish Hamas sympathisers from the Guardian to spearhead it and ignore the ordinary Jews in the country.

They have a word for the people the government trot out soon and that word is “kapo.”

This is exactly how I feel but it's reinforced by the fact a number of years ago I lived in a heavily Jewish neighborhood.

They were great neighbours and it was a lovely, quiet, safe, clean community. I have personal reasons for feeling so as well (without getting too far into it I experienced a medical emergency on the Sabbath while walking home and a family stopped, helped me, and got me medical attention. They also left the husband's business card in my purse with a note asking me to let them know I was okay, if I felt inclined to).

When you deal with a problem you solve the biggest one first, and the single biggest issue modern Britain has is the endless tides of human waste coming here whose mindset, culture and beliefs are not only anathema to ours, but are held by people who are actively harming us.

To me, the Jewish communities in the UK are a problem way down the list, after the niggers, pillar boxes, tongue clickers and Mudslimes.

Some news from GB News:

Nigel Farage is giving evidence at Southwark Crown Court in the case of an asylum seeker, Fayaz Khan, who issued threats against him.

Also, Reform have won council seats in Gravesham from the Tories and the turquoise wave looks set to continue.

There's also been a major security incident at Larkhill Army Base in Wiltshire.

Also some possible good news as an ex Office for Budgetary Responsibility (OBR) employee has lambasted Reeves and said that she has 'no credible plan for the economy'. Are the Labour factions going to result in Reeves being forced out before next month, with Darren Jones being installed as Chancellor and having to rewrite the Budget in order to make it at least acceptable?

The fence was cut and some fuel was stolen from a civilian contractor tanker. Gyppos getting brave. The Army also were the ones who fucked up the security at the RAF base when the proPallies broke in iirc, time for a powerpoint presentation on how to guard correctly boys.
In business news, Clearsprings Ready Homes who provide accomodation to asylum seekers have made 187m in profit from government contracts despite 'terrible conditions'
Clearsprings is "paying as little as possible to the suppliers and taking as much as they can in profits", says Maia Kirby from Good Jobs First - one of 60 charities to have written an open letter.
People seeking asylum are housed in "miserable" conditions while "millions in public money… is simply taken in profit by a handful of private companies", says the letter.
There's so much disparity in the 'asylum' system- from random Africans getting new build houses in some councils, to the buffets and amenties and free job training in some, to this obvious abuse of government contracts- it's, dare I say, capitalism and greed at its finest and theres no actual care about 'asylum seekers' from those involved; so let's just scrap it. I'll admit this crisis has almost made me stop believing in asylum completely, the only reason people come to the UK specifically is for the potential bennies, and those with 'genuine claims' get fucked over by how bloated and stupid the system is. Add on the hypocrisy of the Covid Lockdowns making us super aware of the coughs and sniffles and we must lockdown in case we spread it- but not TB from Shitholeistan, no, if you care about people coming into the UK having a clean bill of healf ur a racist. Funnily enough, TB is also called the White Death.

Chipping in to say that I don't remember a single fucking thing May did, good or bad, so that marks her pretty high on the 'alright PM' list for me.

It really pisses me off when lefty faggots whine about Palestine Action being proscribed for "putting some paint on a plane".

Context fucking matters. This happened literally the DAY before the UK gave military support to the US bombing Iran. Taking out even ONE plane disrupts the entire tactical approach and could have resulted in the entire operation being cancelled which in response affects the US bombing run and puts US planes in danger and affects US relations.

This wasn't some peacetime protest, this was far more sinister. In a perfect world every single person involved in that protest would be black bagged and shot for treason.

The fact it wasn’t reported on properly makes it worse. They make is seem like it was just a bunch of hippy protesters when it was an organisation carrying out attacks on civilian and military infrastructure in support of a foreign terrorist organisation whilst being funded by Iran.

Not even the most Guardian brained retard would object to the above being banned but it was never explained to the public like that.

Our establishment are retards.

May wasn't too awful. She at least wanted the job. I also didn't like the flack she got for not being a Mother. She was a brittle type one diabetic, and had health issues, she made the sensible choice.

I liked Truss, and I like her all the more for the interviews I've seen her in since she quit. She wasn't given a chance and it would have been interesting to see how her plans would have panned out.

If I was sceptical of there being greater powers at play, holding sway and influence, before seeing those interviews (I wasn't, I've been convinced of this for a long time) then any of those doubts would have been quashed after watching her interviews. I also respect her a good deal for speaking up. Anyone who comes forward and risks themselves to speak the truth is to be commended.

I have a very sour opinion of her, but mixed as well.

May is the one who appointed the negotiation team that fucked us over in brexit, by accepting the premise of an arbitrarily short separation agreement and acquiescing to the EU's refusale to address any of the pertinent issues until the borders were closed. She was a remainer, who seemingly insisted on getting the most obtuse and ridiculous terms possible, in order to punish the people for having the temerity to vote against her preferred outcome.

She had a lot of goodwill from previously abolishing Labours first go at an ID card database. She managed to get some immigration reform through (which Boris subsequently threw in the bin with his india deal), but she squandered it all with her ridiculous, rushed "deal", which later gave Boris the opening to number 10 so he could fuck things up even further.

I'll say this: If May had been in charge during the covid shit, I suspect we'd have had a much better outcome. Rather less of the panicked delegation to "experts" and grandstanding for the TV we saw from the Turk.

It was also a fucking Muslim, a foreigner, attacking the military infrastructure. Terrorism is too light to describe it. if it was a Russian , they'd be begging Keir to nuke Russia.

@teriyakiburns : I absolutely agree with you on how May would have been in COVID, had it been her. For all her faults, she seems to have a fairly level head on her shoulders.

The Turk absolutely bought into the hysteria and nonsense and lies.

What swayed me that COVID was a total lie was that Nurses I knew in that time were just cutting about and living their lives as normal. No "bubbles" or "social distancing". One of them I know was cutting about dogging in his car, fucking half of West Yorkshire, and spreading Chlamydia.

Personally speaking I was working as a Podiatrist and until I found out about the behaviour of my colleagues in the NHS I did as I was told. Once I found out that people working in "frontline healthcare" were doing precisely as they wanted i stopped all of my compliance. If they were fucking half the county and then going into work in a hospital then, I reasoned, it was safe for me to do as I wished.

The whole thing was a complete and utter lie. Moreso it was perpetuated by Dominic Cummings, he of the foot and mouth histrionics.

May voted Remain and as such wasn't suited to the job of delivering Brexit. Outside of that, she could have been a decent PM, but it's Brexit that ruined her. She was given a poisoned chalice courtesy of Michael Gove who stabbed Boris in the back and ruined his aborted leadership campaign. Only after May did we finally get Boris.

Truss was sabotaged from within because the Tory MPs wanted Sunak and the membership said otherwise - this is why the Tories keep on trying to change the rules so that the membership don't get a vote. Handled the death of the Queen and only got thrown out after that mini budget which Rachel Reeves has no doubt done worse, but as she's Labour she gets away with it. It doesn't seem like the Tories want much to do with Truss these days either, as if she had to take the fall, plus she lost her seat in the 2024 General Election.

Don't think May caused much of a fuss after leaving the role and occasionally brought up good points on the back benches. First PM to go to the Lords after Thatcher too, which used to be a regular occurrence until John Major didn't take one up. Lord Pig Fucker only happened when Sunak brought him in as Foreign Secretary, otherwise didn't take one up for many years. Will just have to see who else will finally give up a green bench return to end up on the red benches. You know that Boris wants to come back after all.

Wait until they are on your flight, and they kick up a big fuss because you won't move from your seat. Not my fault I was sat next to their wife.

Want to sit next to your wife? Then book and pay for two adjacent seats, and don't expect someone to move to appease your lack.of foresight.

Have they never seen Final Destination?

Foot and mouth was a test run. I cannot be convinced otherwise. Prof Neil ‘shagger’ Ferguson was involved too. This has been a while in the planning
Not only involved, he used the same bloody computer model. It predicted mass death on a scale never before seen and panicked the government into slaughtering as much of the national flock as they could get their hands on. I still have vivid memories of a vet stun-gunning panicked sheep on a giant pile of carcasses, which was then set ablaze even though they'd missed a few.
Absolutely, I agree. Along with "swine flu" back in what was it? 2007? 2008?
Ferguson stuck his oar in for every even slightly infectious disease since the 90s. He waved his computer model around every time someone had a nasty cough, until it eventually caught the right ear and finally gave him the recognition, money, and speedy commute to his mistress that he thought he deserved.

I can remember how in Skipton, which is sheep country, they stopped the trains going there.

I also know, personally, a few farming families which had family members kill themselves in the aftermath.

Total decimation of our farming stock based off the histrionic flapping of stupid little men who toss the stiff to Contagion and Outbreak. Absolute tossers who were hell bent on doing harm.
