A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Piss taking aside, when your gas bill regularly arrives on your doorstep two weeks after the date on the letterhead, are we any better off than when the mail was delivered by stagecoach?
The TV licensing letters arrive pretty quickly.

If Royal Mail just refused to take junk mail (pizza leaflets etc...) and TV licensing letters, they would have so much more time to y'know, actually deliver letters and parcels.

Passports.

There is a lot of ways those forms can be slightly wrong and you have to start again a month later. It was less than a tenner when I renewed and they took care of everything including making sure the photo would be accepted, took responsibility for making sure the forms were correct and posting the application securely.

Frankly I’d like to go back to physical tax discs from the post office too to make buying and selling on a car easier.
Well, good luck with getting your form checked now by someone who only has a basic grasp of the English language or is close to retarded. I'm generalising, but it seemed to work in a post office you used to need at least a few more IQ points than the typical barcode scanner at Tesco. Now it's either brown people who barely understand what you want or the shop assistant who gets an extra 20p and hour for manning the post office till when required. Depends where you live though I guess.

I forget where but you can opt out of receiving junk mail from Royal Mail. Be part of the change you want to see in the world.

Every council and government is saying we need to build more houses. But the problem doesn't get solved because all those houses end up being given away to foreigners as soon as they're built. How do you compete with the government as a renter? They are spending millions a day on single hotels for these vile creatures. What is a family supposed to do?
Not just given away to foreigners. Foreigners on mass are buying out houses and then renting them out to their own. When ever a new housing estate is built you will get waves upon waves of foreign men looking around the place and buying out the housing to rent. Often or not these houses then go back onto the market at inflated rates or they only give them out to their own.

It's much worse then the scroungers getting these as hand outs, it's becoming them literally owning most of the housing.

When the swing back comes it will be fun to see how cheap all this becomes. When "all Paki property is now British property and you have no claim to anything but a boat ride home" there will be a lot of cheap houses if you can remove the curry smell and rat feces.

so, for the Brits: how weak really is your police? i've never seen guns on them, even during riots. the only exception is near 10 downing street.

I've been following this thread for a while, been interested in your island since the Brexit vote, and it gave me so many talking points when I met a recent (white) British expat the other day. He was so angry at the absolute state of his country that he covered migrants, migrant hotels, "youth" crime, the human rights farce, politicians, benefits, Muslims, Nigerians, Indians and the state of the police. It was a wild 30 minutes.

I don't think the Pakis are willing to die for the land they control in England(for now).

As @A-Logato said, believe it or not, builders tend to be quite principled, especially when it comes to smaller firms. They hire family and train up, and avoid foreigners like the plague. One thing a family member said in our talks about building is that he is a retired firm owner. Middle-class people will ask if "Did any foreigners build this?" They know that foreigners except pols can't build for shit, look at Indian engineering ffs.

A lot of building firms, if they know the site is mostly social refuse, as it is a net negative. They make 0 from those homes as it gets annihilated by tax. A lot of building people, too, rank in the local community, so they do this for protectionist reasons. On top of that, there are not enough builders now; the previous government did a good job of killing the medium-sized companies that built a lot of houses at a good rate and speed. A lot of them had generational training and that was removed, so you have a deficit, and because of the legal issues of building to code, the companies are skittish about hiring new people.

@Scream Tail, as someone about to approach emmigration, I get asked in the South frequently, "Why would you come here?" Other than my pending spouse, of course, it's freedom and fairness. You can see their worldview change in the periphery of their eye; it's fascinating. I am not going to lie, I get a bit of power from it too, as it has happened several times. I'd say, "Appreciate Trump because, if you had Kamala, you'd get 100 million illegals a year."

Didn't catch up on the thread, phone posting, but wanted to mention that my niche Rimworld mod had to send an email about their infographics displaying mod features can no longer be displayed in the UK because "there are no image hosting sites that check for id before viewing".

What the fuck even is this faggot law from a faggot country.

Isn't it fucking crazy that these aren't already requirements?

40%. Ok no. Went and found the video. Up to 75% of pakistani children in the uk are a result of first cousin marriages. So fucking inbred the bbc did a documentary about it where they claim that they just 'didn't know the facts' of why you shouldn't fuck your family members.

There were also a lot of white men that were also migrants. What was that figure about I think ukraine being one of the top producers of child porn or something like that? I'm not fucking looking that one up but you get the point.
That documentary had me yelling at my screen. Thankfully there are some sane Muslims interviewed who think it’s rank to marry your cousins, but what really made me lose my shit was the woman blaming her son’s retardation on the NHS. She believed he was absolutely fine before he was admitted to hospital as a baby, and the hospital made him retarded.

Why was he taken into hospital? I guess the NHS are just evil and want to make healthy babies sick. It couldn’t possibly be because the kid was retarded in the first fucking place and they were trying to diagnose and help him, oh no. Literally had me screaming about them fucking off back to Pakistan to have their babies there, if they believe our health services are so evil.

And apparently the retarded son wants a girlfriend. He lies on the floor and squawks all day, but he wants a girlfriend. The cynic in my says he can’t understand how to look after himself but he still gets ‘the urge’ and no-one is attempting to teach him restraint. The optimist hopes it’s just his family pretending he’s not really retarded and all he needs is a nice wife to sort him out. Hopefully not a cousin.

It’s totally fucked, but what really comes through is the lack of education of this particular group. Not just that, but it seems like they don’t trust anything they’re told by NHS/social services/schools/govt etc, so they’re only going to stew in their ignorance and pass it on to their children. That’s the real issue. It’s not so much the traditions, but the insular attitude and almost total rejection of the British state that’s trying to help them. It’s infuriating to watch, and sad as fuck for the kids born with god knows what learning disabilities - that the state has to support.

I suppose pointing that out will have me classed as a racist, rather than someone pointing out a fact. How the hell can the NHS and social services hope to help these people when they actively and consciously don’t want to be helped (aside from money)?

A lot of decent buildings have been bought up by paki developers. Four of them run in, smash down some walls, put in a dodgy toilet and plug socket and rent it as flats. Many beautiful old houses gutted to rent to 10 of their cousins per bedroom.

Depends. I'm no criminal mastermind but gun crime is relatively rare purely because guns are hard to get, legally anyway. You can basically have one if you are in a shooting club or a farmer, I knew someone in a shooting club and the police absolutely will turn up unannounced to check the gun is where it should be, securely locked up. Criminals, yeah there are ways I'm sure but considering most crimes are with knives and bats etc, tells me guns must be pretty hard to get that way too. So, police generally don't need guns. They always have them in airports though and sensitive places, like Downing Street. There are also armed response teams so if someone is seen with a gun, a trained unit should arrive to shoot the nigger dead asap.

Even that can go wrong though. People have been shot for good reason but then it's all the usual good boi dindu nuffin arguments and the police can lose years of their life arguing that having a gun pointed in your face is actually a good reason to shoot that nigger dead.

In general though police are faggots. The common gripe is they always seem to be able to knock on your door to tell you off for calling someone a tranny online, but they won't turn up at all if you report you have been burgled. Some are on power trips and do their best to act like complete twats just to get a rise, then it's cuffs on for disturbing the peace or something. Don't get me started on the women as well, simply too weak. There was an incident at Manchester airport where some muscled brown people started a fight, took some real police strength to bring them down. The woman got her face rocked and folded immediately crying, complete liability.

Armed police are very much the exception. This dates back to Peel's principles, which held that the police were public servants who should not be able to menace the public, as the old city watchmen they were replacing had done. Police who needed weapons were expected to borrow them from a citizen, in exchange for a receipt, and to return them once they no longer needed them. Given how the pigs act these days, it's a good job that rule has stuck around, as otherwise they'd be executing shitposters in the street.

The only power our police have is the respect afforded to them by their role as public servants - respect that is all but gone now. They rely on the false perception that they are a massed force, capable of facing down any crowd, combined with the reluctance of any individual member of the mob to risk being at the front when the batons start swinging.

It's just a rebranding of Collect+ shops, but the typical GB News headline clickbait.

@Made In Wales You gotta go somewhere else for your news, man. Their headlines are total bollocks. Clickbait at best, misleading at worst.
They've gone downhill quickly - I'll go to other sources but even Wales Online/Trinity Mirror is clickbaity as hell.

Can't stand the BBC but at least their articles are more or less literate and have some facts attached.

Reeves has been crying again! This time during Starmer's speech as he criticised the economy:

They apply the law as they see fit, or not. If they did their job and actually investigated and arrested criminals, things might be a bit better here. As it is, the police usually have enormous blind spots to certain crimes, while hyperfocusing ridiculously on others (the whole ‘hate speech’ thing is a great example).

The legal system is uninterested in most prosecutions anyway, and things only go to trial if the Crown Prosecution Service believe it’s in the public interest for such cases to be prosecuted. That’s just part of the reason why prosecution rates for rape here are only a little over 1%, for example. Why should the police bother chasing criminals and doing all that paperwork if the Crown Prosecution Service or other legal bullshit can’t be bothered to take the case on?

Take a wild guess at our esteemed Prime Minister’s previous employment*. It makes perfect sense, if you think about it. Depressing.

* He was head of the Crown Prosecution Service.
