A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Yes.
You'd be surprised (or maybe not) at how many people can't actually articulate their own points of view or core beliefs. Failing to do that, they may then rely on another person to do it for them, without actually looking into how that person supports what they're saying.
Elizabeth's weak-willed and (if the various journalist rags are to be believed) complicit rule
I a-logged ZoomerHistorian for pushing the latter-narrative in a video he uploaded recently.
Part of the 1689 Bill of Rights basically means the royal family can't go against parliament because it'd be undermining it, thus violating sovereignty. Were we under a total faschismo regime, Charles would be just as compelled to talk about the glory of Britain and the primacy of Christianity over Islam in his Christmas speech, regardless of personal opinion. The monarchy is used to legitimise parliament's decisions, and are in effect just vestigial. Can't even dissolve parliament without permission.

I'd keep them if no other reason than we've had them for a long time, the "United Kingdom" is better than "The Republic of Britain", and the completely valid threat of our Union flag being converted into some trite 3-bar tri-colour like the French, Dutch, Germans, etcetera.

>paki calling India racist
It's poetic, in its own way. It'd be funny of someone spread this without willyboy's witterings, to see who takes the bait.
One is pretending to be a woman and the other is pretending to be British.

People - even the hardened racists I know- don't have issue with them.
They don't usually cause trouble because they know their government will execute them if they cause a scene and disrupt the various spy rings the Chinese have going on.

Not to mention this story where a Chinese lady was money laundering £3 billion in crypto. I'm mildly racist towards the Chinese but that's mostly because I like to say "egg fry rys" in a funny accent.

EDIT: Reshuffle updates

  • The government is now lurching to the left. Chief Sec to the Treasury has been brought into Downing Street away from No. 11 in a brand new SpAd/ministerial role called Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister and No10 Downing Street. The role has been invented for him. The only minister who is minister for Downing Street is the Prime Minister. Darren Jones is essentially deputy PM now. Exchequer Sec. James Murray replaces Jones at the Treasury.

  • Comms Director James Lyons QUIT (the man who was replacement for Matthew Doyle) and replaced with two people: Tim Allan and Steph Driver.

  • The bell tolls for Reeves. She is being set up to fall on her own blade as Starmer has brought in more left-wing economic think tank nepo babies such as Dan Tomlinson who was appointed exchequer secretary.

  • Olaf Henricson-Bell (Torsten Bell's brother - yet more nepotism) has been sacked as the senior civil servant on the Downing Street Policy Unit.

  • On the morning of the reshuffle, our gilt yields have reached 5.64% which is the highest level since 1998. Borrowing now costs more and makes that £50b black hole even larger.
High tax rises all but guaranteed this October. The 70s are about to look like a joke compared to what the next 3 years has in store for every single one of us.

Even the Rayner story has had an extra layer of detail this morning.

The Queen Of T'North herself "wants" to reveal more about her strange property dealings but apparently she can't because of a court order. (L / A)

It doesn't end there. Turns out that her main home was valued at exactly £650,000 which is the highest amount possible before you have to pay inheritance tax.

----

Are we going to see a Reeves resignation before October? Moving Jones (her closest ally at the Treasury) to No. 10 is a direct attack on Reeves.

He clearly thinks she isn't up to the job but he may be waiting until after the fallout from the October budget, then use a mini-budget to "course-correct" (despite taxes still being way higher) and repeal the most unpopular part of the budget but keep the rest.

At least then it'll look like Reeves fucked up and was sacked. These people are vultures, they will happily triple our national debt for a 1% opinion poll boost on an election they've already lost.

The Queen Mum herself (gord rest her soul) might be directly complicit in the overall degradation of Britain, if this documentary is to be believed.

Certainly very plausible @Crunkle and I think the IMF would rather do business with Jones than the inept Reeves.

If Reeves is finally moved out, that must mean Starmer and Rayner could be gone soon as well.

Sacking Rayner and Reeves now may save Starmer in the short term, but in the long term who knows what damage they could do?

Also, why make the changes now if they aren't worried that soon they will be having to convince the people to re-elect them. Even the most optimistic of Labour voters now admits that Starmer will struggle to get four more months never mind four more years.

Don't think so. Rayner more so than Starmer. Sinking governments start to get rid of the unpopular deadwood to save the PM. I reckon Reeves will be gone right after October after delivering whatever it is she will. Rock bottom polling and then backbench pressure starts to really kick in demanding Starmer is replaced because they all know they'll lose their jobs.

Starmer is likely to hang on by his fingernails (he did 'win' an election) so we will be back in the 2017 days where a government with a majority cannot pass anything due to constant backbench rebellion. I still reckon either Rayner (becoming less likely by the day as more details about her interesting LARPing as the Monopoly Man comes out) or Milliband will take over. Cooper is dead in the water too with the immigration.

And all of that's assuming we don't need an IMF bailout. Found this article (L / A) earlier and there's some pretty terrifying stuff contained within:

The UK government pays the third-highest borrowing costs of any advanced economy, behind New Zealand and Iceland, which were both particularly over-leveraged during the great recession of 2008 to 2009. Borrowing during the first year of Sir Keir Starmer’s administration was £151billion, of which £105 billion – over two-thirds – was spent on interest payments. Government spends more than twice as much on servicing debt than on defence, and almost as much as on education!
I'm amazed the market hasn't lost confidence sooner.

I sperged about it here.
He uses this tweet to support his narrative the Queen wanted to see Rhodesia kill. But the tweet just straight up lies in what appears to be a bizarre-ass indirect defence of Harold Wilson. The Queen or one of her attendants realised he wasn't there, either the fault of Ian Smith himself and he's trying to save face or Harold Wilson was trying to make sure it had looked like Ian Smith had snubbed the Queen.

The e-Right or just British Fascholarpers have a bizarre obsession with trying to condemn the royal family specifically for things going the way they are despite having no power to do anything. Inevitably the intent behind the claim is just to lead people towards asking "Why?" then the same person who put the question in their heads directs them towards the Rothschilds (requires ignoring the intent behind the Balfour declaration), blaming the Jews for our modern woes (requires ignoring pretty much everything from 1880 to 2000 for ass-pulls and contrivances), and then trying to have them reach the conclusion that, "Hitler was right all along! And not just a total sperg - in fact, the British were the bad guys actually in WW2," which ZoomerHistorian unironically believes, but I'll try to avoid looking like a larger retard than him by overreacting.

Fact of the matter is, Lester Pearson had more of a negative influence on the UK's trajectory, Rhodesia, and his own country of Canada, than Queen Elizabeth did.

Lester Pearson is the reason why Canada has it's current maple leaf flag.

TLDR: ZoomerHistorian won't research something if it looks like he might be wrong in his initial claim, because people like him have based their entire identities around the idea of Hitler being ultimately benevolent, and the UK being the servants of Jews (totally not Hitler coping about Germany's situation at the time) and its downfall being manufactured, which due to it's conceptual complexity, would require naming and shaming every single individual involved so it just becomes easier to blame a few people (Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth) than the actual dozens if not hundreds of people that'd require naming and shaming.

David Warburton, MP for Somerset and Frome from 2015 - 2023 has died aged 59. He was suspended from the Tories in 2022 and then had a cocaine and sex scandal involving a stay in a psychiatric hospital. His death is "unexplained but not suspicious".

There's mass outrage with people in and around Epping and other parts of the country threatening to stop paying council tax (stupid idea; was way easier in the 80s because everything was paper back then whereas now council bureaucrats could just press a button and refer thousands of people to bailiffs for unpaid debt).
Don't forget the government just pushed out mass adoption of 'smart meters' which can at a single push of a button disconnect your entire house from both gas and electricity and you have no choice but to accept the 'upgrade' and no way to remove it from 24/7 remote access.
even Japan
I wouldn't say so. Japan has always been incredibly xenophobic, they haven't joined our anti immigration cause we've joined theirs, even then their opinions on foreigners as a whole are half the time more extreme than what people would say about illegal immigrants in this thread. Decent portion of them never stopped seeing the Chinese in particular as subhumans, they just stopped killing them for sport once they got nuked.
ZERO results in a reverse image search which means it just isn't in the TinEye database or this is a photo he actually took and uploaded for the first time in this tweet. If any other spergs out there have a better way of doing a reverse image search, I'd love if you could check, please
These things are fucking dogshit. Especially with twitter from experience. I have repeatedly saved an image from a twitter account and then sent it to someone only to be asked where I got it from and been told by tineye that the image does not exist anywhere online. I would personally take the 'no reverse image search results' thing with a massive grain of salt, it's on the same level as a random discord screenshot.

May I ask the Brits a question? Why is nobody protesting the Royal Family? They’re doing nothing except supporting more subjugation of the natives and more raping filth. They’ve said not one word about what the English people are suffering under.

Do you not consider the Royals part of Government therefore not involved in the issue?
