A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I'm not gonna speak on behalf of the other people who've shared similar opinions, but when I'm talking about Gurkhas I'm not speaking about all Nepalese people in a broad sense. I am talking about the particular group of people who fought with the British army and were thus giving the opportunity to live here. I'm not saying that Nepalese people are some kind of "based brown" or a model immigrant, I'm saying that Gurkhas cause basically no trouble here and at least have some justification for their presence on our shores.

I don't hold particularly strong opinions about whether that was a wise move, but I think if you're going to pick any group of non-British people to import they're a pretty good choice. In my experience they're perfectly respectable people. However, I am certainly not advocating for allowing Nepalese people (or anyone else for that matter) to freely migrate to the UK.

It's obvious that there's a handful of regular posters who believe whole heartedly in a white-anglo ethnostate and I don't care to try and persuade otherwise. All I'll say is that whilst I don't agree with the globalist ideology that all people are interchangeable units, I also have slightly broader criteria for whether someone is an asset to a society than just their race.

That's the last I'm interested in saying about this because the opposing opinion is essentially "TND/TPD/TJD no ifs no buts".

IMO, the UK will never be a completely white ethnostate and it is folly to believe that it ever will.

Much as I and others say 'Niggers' here, there are some Blacks and Asians who are great people and very patriotic - they want to be a part of the UK and not apart from it.

What is needed is to bin everybody who hates the UK - if you don't like it here, and if you shouldn't be here, then you will be removed.

We also need to overrule the woke courts who demand that migrants stay here, especially those migrants who don't want to be here. I have heard that GB News are planning to speak with migrants who are being kept here against their will, and that will be difficult for the wokes to stomach as they have to be pro migrant... until it's no longer profitable anyway.

As @Hoi Polloi states, not all Whites are great, in fact the woke whites a cancer.

I'd honestly never buy a pre-frozen 99, the good part about them is that they're soft serve ice cream, not the dense cornetto type stuff.

That's still absolutely perverse. Wonder what the going rate is from a van is at the moment.

Why does it matter what they want? I want to be a cute anime girl with massive tits and a giant robot to fight space wars. But I'm not getting that am I? How is it fed posting to say we need our home back and all the foreigners need to leave? Go to Birmingham some time and tell me it doesn't gut punch you to see the place. I remember Birmingham before the foreigners took it over. Same way if we continue this I will say "I remember [little village] before the church was turned into a mosque."

Fed posting is calling for action. Saying you want all the foreigners gone isn't a call to action. It's a wish for a return to the country I knew 50 years ago.

Just a few nuggets I found interesting today:
  • Heathrow Airport is sponsoring Reform UK's annual conference. Heathrow actually sponsor the main party conferences (Conservatives, Labour and SNP) so this is an important step in Reform's detoxification to the average person.

  • Some kind of protest took place today outside of the Sudanese embassy today. All in Arabic, disgusting video, jealous of people who don't have a sense of smell.

I subscribed to Graham Linhean's substack a while back, though most of his content isn't his it's from various female writers. This article covering the Edinburgh fringe was sent to my email inbox. It's wonderfully snarky, and does a good job and just how fucking insufferable the arts community in the UK are.

It's a tough epistemic environment we're arguing this in, because the mainstream, acceptable position is positive on immigration to such an extent that its positions are obviously retarded. Thus, lots of people do notice the retardation, but when the alternate viewpoint of nativism and racial/ethnic nationalism (for whites of various kinds) is so suppressed, while it seems obvious the pendulum should swing back that way, it's hard to envisage what that will look like and how far should it go. If you just "no, but" every argument for immigration and go full nativist you can look a bit of a clown; but on the other hand, it can be hard to know whether you've actually managed to deprogram yourself from such a concerted messaging campaign as the one we're under ("we" are obviously under different campaigns; yours seems much more oppressive, but over here I bet a sizable chunk of people who are aware of it at all think that Emma Lazarus poem is in the Constitution).

I've also personally had positive experiences of Sikhs relative to other Indian groups, and I know Null speaks positively of them for being le based Islam stabbers, but then you see Canada who imported loads and they seem to just bring the same issues as anyone else from the subcontinent; even at best, they're ethnic chauvinists who import their own nationalism and squabbles to Canadian soil, and do terrorism in support of Khalistan independence. Given that we all seem to know a few good ones, maybe this is an opportunity: deport them all and see if they can't create a Khalistan that's actually worth staying in with all that great human capital. If they can't because of the crushing weight of the useless left part of their bell curve, I'd gently suggest that as good as the good ones have been for you, you still might be better off on average not hosting all their descendants in the country forever. It's legitimately hard to tell.
