A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Yeah, that's why I said the analogy was strained as fuck.
Highest end AMD card is equivalent to the 5070 TI, which is more than fine for most things (I mostly play grand strategy games and largely non-demanding ones, and all at 1080p at that). AMD also do, far as I know, far better (for gaming) CPUs than the likes of Intel. But it was the first thing that came to mind. I was going to use Huawei and Iphone originally but I don't know or care enough about phones to force my shit analogy. I also wanted to avoid using food.

It’s been a little while since I brushed up on my classic weaponry but as far as I remember, claymores and other large swords weren’t used so much used in like the classic knight duelling scenarios you might imagine - moreso for pushing back groups of enemies with large swings and suited to more defensive positions such as guarding, similar to a polearm. Sure they could attempt to half sword and do a heckin’ mordhau or repel, but by the time they've changed their grip, I have already blown that nigga’s head smoove off going chimp mode with my trusty mace. Nothin’ personell kid…




For my personal choice for a medieval weapon to defend from creepers in Minecraft, it’d be a nice classic one-handed war hammer, potentially with a mid-side rounded shield or buckler for bashing and to deflect any opponent swings. Short blades are more instantly deadly as a weapon, sure - but fewer people can actually masterfully dodge and wield it, and are more likely to fuck up and end up dead themselves. A war hammer is more average Joe-friendly, much easier to manoeuvre and much lighter than a claymore - with a traditional smaller hammer and claw to exert maximum force upon impact. Hammer to bludgeon, spin grip and finish with the nice sharp claw. The bonus is, not everyone has a large unwieldy metal sword in 2025, but most people have a tool box with the warhammer’s great great grandson sitting in it.

No. Halfswording is how you grapple with a blade, which is necessary if you have a sword and are fighting in armour. Swords dont cut armour and make lousy bludgeons, so you have to use it a bit like a spear and thrust it into weak spots or as a lever in grappling.

There are entire manuals like gladiatoria centered around fighting in armour which shows lots and lots of half sword. Swords arent light sabers that slice with a mere touch, and werent heavily sharpened along the entire length of the blade.

I agree, as we all know that grooming gangs won't be dealt with anytime soon, and that rapists cannot be deported, I propose an alternative solution. We train and organise young and teen girls into Scottish Pike units, with a focus on a circular Schiltron — a circular formation covering all 360 degrees with sharp spear points, meaning no would be rapist would be able to sneak up on them. This would be a great learning opportunity for the girls, would give them discipline, encourage outdoor activities, and would most importantly protect them. Though we risk the escalating this warfare, with the grooming gangs potentially evolving to utilise projectiles, cavalry tactics, or heavy armoured units, I have faith in the girls to evolve their tactics as need be and this proposal would ensure with 100% certainty the safety all girls in Great Britain.
