A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Yes. Maths, because it's the short form of Mathematics and creating a singular abbreviation for a natural plural is weird. You don't wake up in the morning and put on your pant, do you?
The Anglosphere outside of North America is pretty neat.

Don't start. We'll never see the end of it.
I've actually memorised all the digits of Pi.

Now I'm just working on the order.

EDIT:
There's also this amusing meme, but the fact that it exists implies that schools have indeed stopped teaching Pi, and started teaching "Pi". Which is concerning.

You shouldn't think of education qualifications as something you will always use, it is instead just a fancy aptitude test that can be used for every person and every job.
An education is one of the best things you can buy imo. It can't be stolen from you and pays dividends for the rest of your life.

Don't worry it, Pi can't hurt you. It's not real.
You're just being irrational now
Don't start. We'll never see the end of it.
I don't get it. These jokes transcend my understanding.

The funniest story was the Daily Mail reporting that some man had left his wife for the Ukranian refugee they'd taken in. I mean, that's not funny but the article quoted him saying: "I came home from work and she'd cooked dinner" and I thought well fuck - his missus is not going to compete with that. These Ukrainian women clearly understand a man's needs.
What kind of a woman doesn't make sure your dinner is ready for you when you get home? It's the bare minimum you can fucking do. Dinner and a roll in the hay before bed are the foundation of a good relationship.

You can have your education stolen from you. People suffering head injuries can lose their memories and have to relearn things.

A very good response @femboy fart huffer - I just wish that school was better tailored to the pupils.

After all, I believe it's more important to educate and inspire than have a 'unit in, unit out' attitude.

I would never say that there isn't a place for advanced learning, and credit to those who do understand the concepts, but when you are more or less press-ganged into learning stuff you just can't get and the teacher's attitude is 'well you should be able to work it out' then it becomes far less palatable.

My ire with education is that it is more about ticking boxes and getting kids to pass exams - there's little joy about the whole experience. I'd love for the days of vocational teaching to come back as those kind of teachers would at least say 'if you can't understand it this way, let's try another way... start from what the answer is and work back etc.'

You will always get your smart kids, average kids and dumb kids - it's no good trying to get everybody to pass because that's not possible and lowering the standards is only going to set kids up to fail.

As for studying the Mabinogon... now that's a great idea.

If you tried to teach cooking today you would get a sketch show. Jamie Oliver walks in with a spoon and tries to cut an onion with it. Wouldn't be able to use knives, everyone knows if you give a 12 year old a knife they will stab someone with it.

What's the difference?
Prisons look like prisons. Prisons look how a prison should. Amazon warehouses look like warehouses that are pretending to be a useful building. Amazon warehouses are the trannies of architecture. They're soulless corpo buildings that are clearly just grey boxes but they want to look like normal buildings so they slap shit all over themselves to try and fool people but you can easily look past it and see them for the soulless grey boxes that they truly are.

In theory I agree. The problem is that half the time you end up with a lifetime of debt in practice. It is certainly one of the best things you can buy in general but at the same time that doesn't mean you should just go to uni without thinking about the serious impact it will have on decades of your financial life.
You can have your education stolen from you. People suffering head injuries can lose their memories and have to relearn things.
But you can't have your qualifications stolen from you. I could lose my entire memory and become disabled, I still have all my qualifications. The important thing is that you are able to get them in the first place. If you can do it once you can easily do it a second time, if you can't do it the first time then chances are you can't the second.

Man I wish this place was just the 10 or so regulars here all down the pub because holy fuck I have a personal story and half about exactly that but it's way too personal for here, even with changing the details I would have to change so much it would become complete fiction.
If you don't grasp that the area of a circle is pi*r^2, how will you be able to work out which size of pizza is best value for money?
If you can't understand basic maths then you don't deserve pizza, you deserve oats and fat out of a trough like the pig you are. If you can't understand maths then you probably can't count calories so it's just a humanitarian effort.

Bring sick and injured children to UK from Gaza immediately, MPs say

Why do we have to look after the world's sick and needy ?

A cross-party group of MPs has written to the government urging them to bring sick and injured children from Gaza to the UK "without delay" for treatment.

In a letter to senior ministers, 96 MPs stressed children are at risk of imminent death and any barriers to their evacuation should be lifted.

So not only do we have to take these people in, we have to let them in without knowing who they are. Will they be accompanied by parents ?

Wonder if they'll be claiming asylum once here ? 😏 But of course......

The letter also calls for children and their families to have the option of claiming asylum, or resettling, in the UK once treatment is completed.

MY GOD, THEY STILL DON'T GET IT, DO THEY ?

I'm so sick of all politicians. Virtue signalling treacherous scum the fucking lot of them. You just can't hate them enough.
He's welcome to try. Even with financial incentives and even with trying to make it law, many people will just not have that and royally kick off. For my part, I will burn my house to the ground before I'm pressured into letting some third world trash use it as a hostel.
You would burn your house to the ground if this was imposed ? Funnily enough I'd be thinking of burning somebody else's house to the ground if they tried to enact this.
