https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Oh god, I did not know there were fellow bread-making enjoyers here. So for me I have been bread-making for a while, but I have been doing it a lot more for cost-cutting. I use the baking function on my air fryer oven and was really impressed by the consistency. I freeze it after 2 days and use it primarily for toast, as I rarely eat bread. Still, one of the best recipes I have made is jalapeno cheese bread, Christ that was divine. I will say the Labour government is great for something, and that is the waistline. I barely eat anymore. If Starmer gives away Gibraltar, then I think there may be issues because that is something he was warned about multiple times.

Tony Blair is literally the anti-christ and should be flayed alive, cursed by the Greek gods to maintain eternal life chained to a pillar of salt in citric rain.
As a pillar of salt in citric rain. It'll handle the flaying for you and then some.

Your hate is admirable but it must go further. In 20 years time hatred of Tony will have justifiably grown, we need to be setting a standard for the future here.

Is he gonna get the milk snatcher treatment for his sand war fuckery down the line do we reckon?
I've already started my rainbow restriction in this thread. However if he is even close to her level of hatred in the 20 years span I gave I will laugh hard. As things currently stand I don't think it's likely but politics is constantly changing.

I think that Thatcher is, strangely enough, getting more respect from her traditional enemies these days.

I live in a constituency which has been nothing but Red for over 100 years (won't say which one, but a former MP for the seat died in the House of Commons in the late 1980s) and 'Grantham's Finest', whilst not being universally loved, is at least getting some respect:

'I never liked her, but she was more for the people than Starmer ever will be.'

'I'd have rather her as leader during Covid/Lockdown - can't stand the woman but she had more balls than Boris, Truss, Rishi and Starmer'.

As for 'Miranda' - he's despised and most people want to see him and 'Dubya' on a one way flight to The Hague Courts.

He's not the most prominent of the pantheon of bogeymen amongst "da looney left" the pissheads like to whine about, but his name does come up a lot, usually in a George Soros way "Blair's behind this" "he wants us to do that". If he ever starts being officially political again instead of just being a shadowy NGO prince it'd be instant hate figure just add publicity.

These were all prior to the supreme court's ruling, as well as a couple of other precedent-setting cases that established the expression of "gender critical" views as protected. The law is in limbo at the moment. Legally, being a troon is protected by various bits of law, but it's also legal to say a troon is a man, which used to be treated as transphobia, but now can't be. Any kid getting kicked out of school for "transphobia" today would have a pretty decent case for discrimination of protected views.
Don't hold your breath. A lot of people voluntarily left the UK due to the tranny insanity, and they aren't coming back regardless of changes in the law. Dealing with "democracy values" again is the last thing they want to do. The half-rollback of trannydom and Starmer doing lip service about "too much immigration" is literally just the establishmentarians begging Britons to come back (because the UK army is essentially nonexistent), and that's not going to happen.
Starmer erasing Brexit galvanizes Lowe and Farage immensely. To do so, a WEEK after declaring the UK a nation of strangers is not only one of the most fucking retarded political moves I have seen in my lifetime but puts him in a fucked position.
What else you'd expect from a creature who is just a bloated copy of Richard Spencer? Neoliberal elitists apparently didn't get the memo that Spencer was/is a miserable failure, and opted to whip up the same science experiment again, to predictably idiotic results.

I mean that's the crux of it, it's fantastic for knowing that if use even the base level of anonymity you're pretty much safe from the UK government because that lone barrier would be enough to be too much effort to find you when there's plenty of easier targets (big Gaz on facebook saying "Pakis out") but the issue is that the exact same thing happens to illegals and migrants. The second someone someone moves from their migrant hotel to work cash in hand for their cousin in Bradford they're 'gone' as far as the system sees it.
Did you know during WW2, at the height of hysteria, fury over the Japanese bombing of Peal Harbour and the subsequent hatred of them, Roosevelt passed executive order 9066. As a result, relying on the military, America put 110,000 Japanese into internment camps? Did you know they missed 17000 of them?

I think the best way to solve the illegal issue is pass an order at the top, then rely on the bottom to sort itself out. Ban halal slaughter ('Religious slaughter', for optics), hijab and niqab ('Religious face coverings' for optics), circumcisions for under 18s unless medically necessary, you'd probably see every bit of dark green on this map put a red cross over the UK.

I hate a lot of the Left's rhetoric (mostly because some conclusions, premises, and solutions are batshit) but one of the cruxes of 'Manufactured Consent' is that people by and large self-police under the threat of government action ("Even if it isn't their own," I say, pointedly). Illegal immigrants to the UK by and large haven't see the government do much in the way of action so why should they give a shit? You'd need to pursue them to get them actively to make them scared, but since they disappear from the system pretty much when the government loses track of them, they're home free. Failing that, they're housed in detainment long enough claiming asylum that by the time it comes to deport they can just claim statelessness and get a free ticket to citizenship (if you don't have a birth certificate or identifying documents, this is an easy thing to claim, made even easier by the government's unwillingness to approach foreign states for this info).

You need to deter them ever coming here by making it impossible to live in accordance to their faith. At worst, we just lose the most devout of them and stop new ones coming. At best, they all leave and those forced to stay have to actually integrate.

There is one pretty big problem when it comes to this, you can make everything illegal but we don't have the police force to do more than the mere basics. Go look at your local newspaper or website and look at the mugshots of the people who have recently been convicted, they're low hanging fruit with borderline retarded IQ and very clearly left a trail of evidence or implicated themselves.

Nice, juicy easy targets like paedophiles who are too retarded to hide their VHS collection of kiddy porn, rapists dumb enough to deny sexual contact when there's evidence to convict them, yobs who smash up something RIGHT next to a CCTV camera etc.

It's why last Summer was such a major incident, they had to bring in police from everywhere in the UK to prop up the major cities expected to kick off, leaving entire counties completely vulnerable. There's not enough police to legitimately deal with a flash incident where they can be easily overpowered and outnumbered. You'd think after last Summer there'd have been a MAJOR drive to hire police officers so a situation like this never happened again... but due to the prison's issue it doesn't matter if you have one police officer for every citizen, CPS aren't going to push a prosecution unless it's serious enough to justify a prison cell.

The police are a paper tiger and it feels like we're one flashpoint away from realising just how useless they are.

It's why Null getting all these threats from police state UK are so funny: we have legitimately no way to enforce any of these threats. It all hinges on being part of a high trust society, where people will do the honourable thing and respect authority no matter what or how legitimate the request is. If you refuse to implicate yourself or simply have a good enough lie then we can't actually do anything.

I've baked bread a few times; and it always seems more hassle than it's worth. It goes stale very fast, and I don't really eat white bread, or simpler carbs like bread. But with some stew and some salted butter it's pretty good.
Porridge bread is surprisingly good, and as the main ingredients are yogurt and whole oats it's not bad if you avoid simple carbs. This is the nearest I find to how I make it, though I add the bicarb to the yogurt (which has to be live) for the fun science experiment effect, which my child enjoyed about twice but I enjoy every time.

Sounds interesting, but what the fuck is bread soda?

This seems unlikely, but I'll make a note of it just in case.

I.. don't know how I want feel about this.

Are we gonna be riding the Gallowave?
What matters now is putting the country first and putting political differences aside.

George might not be the best person ever, but despite everything I admire him for saying 'the country is in peril and you, Nigel, are the one to save us in our hour of need.'

This ties in with what I am still thinking - Starmer will either face a VONC (very likely) or he'll be too pompous to face a likely defeat and will then call a G and E.

I know, Rainbows are going to fall, but if you were a pompous, arrogant, aloof tosser then you'd rather look after yourself and your own ego sooner than ever admit defeat.

Starmer doesn't do defeat and yes I believe he'd have no issue with destroying the Labour Party if it was somehow advantageous to him. He's going to give up the Falklands and Gibraltar anyway, why should he care about Rayner and co. - he most likely considers his fellow MP's as expendable peons, a bit like the working class scum he also despises.

'We all have our reasons and many of them in common. But we all agree that #Starmer is a clear and present danger to the independence and sovereignty of our country. There is no higher issue than that. Without that sovereignty none of the things we believe in can come to pass. We must bring down this so-called Labour Government. To achieve this we must build a mass movement of peaceful resistance. We must defeat them at the ballot box and on every front. We must oppose them at every turn. They are a Potemkin government, paper-thin. Everybody hates them. Let's get them out.
@WorkersPartyGB.'

Even if this means a coalition of the Right and Independents to remove this rotten Government, I will accept it.

Let the people have THEIR say.

Even Starmer couldn't be batshit enough the hand away the monument of ultimate Anglo triumph over the Spaniard for a pittance.

George fucking Galloway, I do not like it, I do not like it all, it's too perfect. Especially when my own schizo head canon has him doing a leftie popular front with the commie Corbyn types not going full beefsteak with niggel.
It stinks of a setup is what I'm saying, maybe not an establishment one but there's some malicious force behind it, KGeorgieB wouldn't be up for it otherwise.

He'd gladly open up his arsehole for Lord Alli, Useless Van of Liars and any other self-loathing sociopath, therefore what difference would it make to him?

Just depends who Galloway likes more, Nigel or Keir.

It's not perfect by any means, but perhaps this is what is needed to scare Labour - if Nigel had done a deal with Kemi and the Tories it wouldn't have registered... now that George is extending the hand of friendship this will concern the BBC/MSM a lot more.

Dismissing the Right-Wing is easy, it's harder to dismiss Galloway and the disaffected Red Wall folks.

The honest-to-god SDP is cheerleading Reform too. The Conservatives failed to conserve anything that aren't Indian takeaway restaurants and New Labour have mucked up literally every single solitary venture of theirs in but a single year. People wanted to trust Labour because they were hitting all the right notes (tear up shit regulations stifling industry and infrastructure, get rid of rule-by-quango, stop the infinite migrant flow, etc.) only to renege on all of them in a year.
