A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The Tories cannot say or do anything to help them at this point, they've had 14 years in power and despite multiple promises of cutting immigration they've done the direct opposite. The Boriswave alone is enough to condemn them to the Liberal Democrat tier of lunacy vote.

I think they only thing that could probably get them in is if they run a campaign entirely on the death penalty.

Of course they will. Same as Labour and Reform. You don't just abandon a major voting bloc.

The pearl clutching I've seen from Labour party members of Starmer's recent change of heart is pretty funny though. Even Ed Miliband displayed a surprising amount of awareness when he said that immigration had a direct effect on the working class. Fucks sake, even Gordon Brown of all people ran with "British jobs for British workers" and Jack Straw said asylum seekers were faking it. Labour are acutely aware of the damage that immigration poses.

The 1964 Smethwick campaign that saw Gordon Walker (who at that point was a Labour permanent fixture) get ousted caused shockwaves in the party because it highlighted the differences between public and private opinion. Labour knew, even back then, that immigration was creating "urban blight", which was why Harold Wilson passed the Commonwealth Act in '68 in an attempt to stop the boroughs turning into Kenya.

They all fucking know the damage immigration is causing, but the only way you're going to cure it at this point is physical removal and who is going to step forward and sign off on that?
 
It is crazy that the Overton window shifts just a little bit right, and Kier Starmer, the most pro-immigration person alive, turns to this.




His Twitter spammed 13 immigration posts for 2 days, pop off sis.

Could this be a similar tactic to how he ousted the Corbynites by making the far left reveal their power levels and deal accordingly? Did Tony update his patch notes and enter the command <be based af>? I have to admit it's been 3 days, and this feels like an RKO out of nowhere.
 
Sorry for the autism, but speaking of Enoch Powell, there's a corking episode of Call the Midwife (the missus watches it, leave me alone), an extremely gay but pleasant show with a 50s/60s British setting, with this episode set around his Rivers of Blood speech. The main arc being the community all coming together in support of the boat arrivals and absolutely sticking it to the knuckle dragging RACIST SCUM who don't want their jobs taken and peaceful, white British community dececrated.

The show is based in Tower Hamlets. If you've been you know.

It gets better (worse), when gollum starts talking about his time as water minister and how he was just a poor junior minister and couldn't get anything done, these guys are truly pathetic. They have some good points, but then go back down again.

Nothing screams "hard man" as calling for your dad to grab and pin a small white boy who I presume was on his own as your son and his dozen rat like friends beat the crap out of him. That'll really show how much stronger your race is.

Also if we presume the doxx is correct then that man better be thankful that the police appear to have arrested him first or there was going to be an angry mob around at his house.

Now for sentencing? Fuck all because he's one of our precious diversity.

I've always found it funny as hell how all these period piece shows use modern day sensibilities, just once I'd like a show that shows 90% modern sensibilities but then has a homosexual hung for buggery with the whole cast in general agreement of it. Rip the entire fucking bandage off and use that 'grey morality' shit that every fucking TV show does nowadays which would actually work this time.

Although another funny thing about period piece dramas is how they mute the language. If you want to create a show that's literally 1920s then have the nurse nonchalantly use the medical term for a disabled person and call them a spastic. Let them use negro and period piece relevant racial slurs. Let them be in favour of the death penalty etc.

As it stands all it does is mean that modern day spackers watch shit like this and go "man, immigration has always been a good thing". However if the tide turns it's going to be VERY funny to see so much TV accidentally get 'lost' much like how so many 90s shows were suddenly 'lost' once people realised "oh shit we can't show that anymore". They use the excuse that it was shot for conventional telly and not HD telly so the ratios would be screwed up and it'd look pixilated but honestly it's because they don't want people to remember how good Monkey Dust and other incredibly daring TV shows were back in the day,

tower hamlets is ground zero for the worst impacts of immigration. whitechapel got a brand new state of the art tube station with crossrail and it still looks like a bangladeshi slum
