A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Moving quickly on from a story is the standard fallback when a media outlet can't manipulate the narrative in the way they would like. See last week's election coverage. I think this is a good thing as it demonstrates the decline in their power.

Two polls came out this morning, both showing Reform picking up another 2-3% directly from the Tories compared with last week's surveys from the same outlets. This is not surprising considering last week's results - it is likely that a number of small-c conservatives who had been sticking with the Tories out of a belief that they were the better electoral prospect where they live now have proof that, in most places, this is no longer true, and have switched preferences accordingly.

Badenoch's hourglass is now running very short. In theory she has another 6 months' protection but events may override that.

Yes,you read right. Huddersfield. A huge housing development full of young,fighting age,inclined men is going to be put in a town with a massive student population.

That's going to end with yet more rapes and sexual assaults,isn't it?

And £4million a DAY? That is absolutely obscene. £28 million a week to house people who have no right to be here who entered the country illegally who will be allowed to stay by spineless judges. That's just for just housing .Not fold, clothing, free to them bus passes,private dental care. That's just to keep a roof over their heads.

A man whose dismembered body was found in a suitcase had raped and blackmailed a teenager, a court has heard.

The remains of Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, were found in a suitcase and trunk left near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in July 2024, having been taken there from London.

At the trial of Yostin Mosquera, who is accused of murdering and dismembering the two men, a witness told the court he had been blackmailed by Mr Alfonso in exchange for sexual "favours".

Colombian national, Mr Mosquera, 35, denies both murders but has admitted the manslaughter of Mr Alfonso.
Using the pseudonym James Smith, the witness told the jury at the Old Bailey he was about 17 or 18 years old when he first met Mr Alfonso, nearly 20 years ago.

Giving evidence via video link, he said he had gone to Mr Alfonso's flat for drinks after a rugby match and waking up with a "banging headache".

When Mr Smith asked 'what's happened?', Mr Alfonso showed him a video of himself performing sex acts on Mr Smith.

"I didn't know what to do. I was mortified. At this point I didn't know my sexuality - I was confused and scared," he told the court.

"[Being a] black boy in London, gay, whether you were drunk or not - it didn't matter."

He said Mr Alfonso told him he was "not going to show anyone" and if he did "favours" for him, the video would never be shared.

I for one am shocked, shocked at this revelation that a faggot into extreme sex was also a fucking blackmailing rapist.
 
The problem is the Neo-Lib media think the story will be forgotten in 2 days, but with how tenacious the internet media is, it enables the Streissand effect, and they do it every single time.

So that Redwall caucus is pretty major as it consists of 45 MPs.

In PMQs there was no mention of Reform or the Lib Dems' victory. Also, India attacked Kemi and said she offered the tax breaks to them.

The invasion is going to be everywhere. With what was on the leaked serco list. We haven’t seen the leaked list from the other companies with contracts but so many of these towns are quite well off. I suppose one positive is that the middle class white towns “refugees welcome” types finally get a taste of what they are championing. Easy to ignore when they dump on the North.

West Yorkshire is getting tons of housing developments aimed at housing foreigners.

Dewsbury/Batley is full of them, including wanting to knock down a church to build flats on it. Wakefield has a ton of on-going housing developments and Leeds and certainly Bradford may as well be conquered land at this point and I do not believe any actual white people live there (if you say you do then you are lying).

As a whole, West Yorkshire has to be one of the most grim areas of the whole country. The majority of towns and cities are full of foreigners and it's an assault on the ears to hear so many different languages spoken at once besides English. It's being prepped to receive more and more immigrants as the families and councillors prepare to welcome more of their kind over to effectively make the place into a giant ethnic enclave in which they will never be voted out and they will never be expected to integrate as these towns will no longer be British.

Take note that statistically West Yorkshire Police are the worst in the whole country.

Funnily I am currently reading The Second Sleep by Robert Harris. It's set 800 odd years from now with the collapse happening this year.

It is set in the West Country but at one point refers to the "ongoing war with the Northern Caliphate". It's been unsettling reading

There's a church near me that's getting converted into apartments, with a shit-ton houses on the plot around it (which I've ranted about before). Tiny little plot, too. I assume it's going to be filled with migrants because why wouldn't it? Whole thing was a fucking con job as well. I actually put in an offer on the place back before it sold, sentimental fool that I am, with some outlines for a plan to turn it into an arts venue and community centre and a whole financial package for how I'd actually be able afford it (tl;dr two arts funding grants and a loan to make up the difference). Ticked all the trendy boxes. I know it was a long shot, but they outright refused to even consider it; didn't even look at anything I was putting in front of them. Told me to my face that they weren't going to read the bid. It was clear the CofE wanted to auction it off to a developer and the local planning was in total agreement with the idea. Brown envelopes must have been flying back and forth at an astounding rate. Cultural vandalism at its worst, and we're going to have at best a cuple of dozen people parking on an already busy road (because of course the fuckers haven't planned in space for parking for all those apartments).
 
Can I just say to everyone in this thread:

I know we've all been conditioned since the 90s to be on our very best behaviour, but this is a safe space.

If you say "Brit", say "Paki". There will be no judgement, you won't be banned. And you save yourself the wasted syllables.
 
In London they are starting to describe loads of 200+ bedroom with shared bathrooms and kitchens things as "co-living". They are all built in the Labour run councils who have had members becoming MPs and setting the policy for others to copy. If the bonfire of planning laws they've been talking about goes ahead then the same developers that have been bunging them donations for years will be running up and down the country building these and they will probably all end up starting as badly built then moving to crime infested.
 
This month we have had:

5 year deals for landlords to house migrants
No NI payments for indians who live or move here
It comes in threes, what's next?

As it stands, Whitey will be kicked out of his rented house and fired from his job, both so that immigrants can move in to their house and take their job, while being paid more than British nationals (contract workers pay their own NI).

And people say white replacement theory is a conspiracy :story:
