A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Yanks do things differently. Donald Trump has shit hair, but I love how with a few stokes of a pen he was able to suddenly knock USA troonery onto its knees.

The past year in the UK has been baby steps. The establishment is self-serving and they know that trans is going out of fashion. No trend lasts much longer than 10 years unless it's blue jeans:
Cass Review, NHS hormones for kids, Sadiq Khan and others forgetting Trans Day Of Remembrance, pride marches going unfunded... and now a ruling that men can't be legally female.

We never were going to have the Trumpian dagger to trans shit. It's little bits at a time. The establishment still hates us, they just see that the trans trend has passed its sell by date. Things that we hoped for a few years ago are happening now.

Drop rainbows on me, if you still can.
For now, TPTB can still harass us for calling a man a man, and that fucking sucks.
It's almost Easter. I want to take some small pleasure from what looks like another little win, just like those FWS birds' happy faces outside court yesterday.

In College (US sense, not UK), I was once sitting in a room with two other guys and a professor, while waiting on a third person. The two Chinese guys started talking to each other in Chinese, and the professor told them in a clipped tone that it was rude to speak in a language he did not understand.

This extreme example of a hate crime ended with the two guys stopping to talk for a few seconds, exchanging a look, and then continue the conversation in English. Legend says they survived the hate crime unscathed!

Because it not being England, the police was not called. However, I wonder if it happened today rather than some decades ago, if the two guys would have felt empowered of reporting the professor and if it would have lead to firing or some mandatory training.
 
I use the bus to get to work (pls no boooolleeee, I have epilepsy and can't drive). There's a fucking tranny I see on the regular. Gross looking, always in shorts that are top short, knee high socks, a pink plastic raincoat, and that nasty hair they always have.

He was in my way as I went to got off the bus earlier so I said,scuse me dude. He gave me a filthy look and told me I couldn't "misgender" him. Rayner is getting bodied by the unions, destroying any chance she has of gaining further power. The Lords are openly mocking and currently shredding her employment bill. The amendments are astronomical.
Kendall is beyond fucked, she made this green paper doing no research or budget and it will again get shredded.
Streeting is getting destroyed by groups for making claims that are unfounded, and his NHS budget changes are again being ravaged by experts calling it inadequate and dangerous.
The fake lawyer did no costing of the steel mill and is going BACK TO CHINA TO DISCUSS BUYERS, ARE YOU RETARDED!!!
Finally, Cooper, who has to sacrifice her and Keir's bff, or she will actually have to step down
 
Every time I think the USA is on the verge of total collapse, I come to this thread to be reminded that things aren't nearly as bad here as they could be.

The main fear they have is that others copy this example and decide to do the same in other county's so their really trying to make people hate them so that they think twice about strikes else where. As for pay then I'm honestly fine with them getting paid well, I know binmen and the jobs awful to do and can lead to health complications if you've worked it for a long time. Their certainly more deserving of it then train drivers that's for sure.

Yeah, so... about the UK's ongoing rape gang problem where its racist to accuse the Muslims of raping someone's underage daughter before making kebab meat out of her. Time to get nicked fer hate speech, mate.

Is "rampant minority criminality" really a game you want to play where the UK is concerned? Especially knife crime considering London exists.
