A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Some of the joke would not be out of place here though I don't think I saw any actual slurs. On the phone currently but it was a Mail article.

Really telling that they fired this guy within hours of this surfacing but the Labour MP who assaulted someone on camera was untouchable till his day in court and even after pleading guilty will still be allowed to remain as an "independent" unless he gets a jail sentence of at least a year.
 
I completely understand the need to blow off steam about ones colleagues and customers and I would think this applies to all, be they MP or toilet cleaner or taxi driver or CEO.

However, to me the question is, what does this man have on someone that this is coming out now? Who has he pissed off, what is he getting involved with and who has he annoyed?

If you need to vent about work don't do it in any manner written down even if you think it's "private".

The guy he “assaulted” was asking for it though. If I was on a jury and saw the video for any normal person I’d have said “fuck our stupid laws” and voted not guilty. Nothing would have changed my mind.

I say this as someone who hates Labour too.

As for Owen; Owen was in Parliament at 18/19 and there needs to be an age on when you can run because this guy had no work experience. Andrew and Him proclaimed about people looking Jewish (kinda based ngl) and about old people dying on top of bin collections. Sounds like Labour really hate Jews but so did a certain German working group (wink, wink). Very on brand.
 
Yeah, people are raging about the boat arrivals (who should all be dumped back in France) but the number of people coming here legally to "work" in the NHS is insane. The number of dependents they've brought that we need to find school places, GPs, dentists etc. The cost of hiring translators alone is fucking insane.

They don't work. They're useless at best and a fucking liability at worst.

The Indian and Pakistani Doctors don't seem qualified and the Nigerian care assistants are lazy, rude and just hang around together chatting or on their phone.

The elderly can't understand them and have to ask for things to be repeated. If they're lucky they won't get shouted at, ignored or beaten.

I specialise in caring for tards with mental health issues. I have been replaced with our finest imports. Dunno who's going to do the most damage to who first, the patients or the care assistants.

Are you talking about Mike Amesbury? I tried to look up the video of it but all I can find is news clips talking about it and just showing the actual punching. Maybe a few seconds before if I'm lucky. I hate how hard it has become to find information on the Internet. It's not more information, it's the same information over and over and drowning out different information. The video looked like it was from CCTV so presumably the whole thing from initial approach is captured but just infinite clips and "context" in search results.

The sentencing seemed to be heavily affected by the fact he punched the guy while the guy was on the ground. Which as per usual suggests the judge doesn't know how actual fights work. Like maybe that's an indicator of someone continuing to beat a person after the fight is won but just because someone falls over doesn't mean they have stopped fighting you. Most fights end up on the ground if they continue anyway.

Why not both?

The complete inability of the public sector to multitask is one of the key defining contrasts between them and the private imo.

We can have both; we should be doing both, it is possible for both to be going on at the same time; anything less is yet another huge failure by The Establishment against the native population.

It's all about cost and time. The staff they've been bringing in for the last 20 or more years are trained abroad, which both speeds up recruiting, as you don't have to wait for the training to be completed before they get to work, and is significantly cheaper, because the costs are paid by the origin country. It's a false economy, one they justified by saying it would just be a termporary measure until native staff were trained to replace them. Except they make barely any effort to recruit native staff, because it's so expensive and takes longer than the budget cycle. Trusts are addicted to foreign workers because it allows them to spend more money on prestige and empire building. They can boost worker numbers (and thus the prestige of their departments) by hiring more foreigners, and they can use the saved money to build fancier offices for the senior administration.
 
If we kicked out all of the foreigners, we wouldn't need to import more foreigners to look after the foreigners. Nor would we have to import foreigners to look after the foreigner-looker-afterers.

A lot of them have bogus qualifications. Diploma mills or the ‘Ayurvedic’ degree which makes you a doctor in India but doesn’t here (and which can be fudged on paperwork to make it look like a proper qualification.)
So Filipino nurses? Yeah they’re trained as nurses. Polish surgeons? Generally very quality. Pakistani and Indian ‘doctors’? Pray hard and hope.
 
One of the reasons why I quit muh NHS was they were trying to indoctrinate Nursing Students to learn multiple languages on top of their heavy workload load even at uni a nursing student with a commute is easily 40 hours. They asked this on top of reporting issues to safeguarding along with other things like religious stuff and sexual health. The African diplomas are all fake but they will never come to admit the full scope out of shame. Like I said the other day it is all about saving face and that kind of admission would land them in international shit because then other countries would need to vet the immigrants who left and I can tell you, it's all fucking Africans. But I suspect there are a ton of fake Indian doctors too since I have had many sus conversations that have raised my eyebrows.

I can't tolerate either of them tbh because I think falsifying education is one of the worst things you can do. It's not only an insult to the people trying and working hard juggling life but the people you are so knowingly thieving or killing. I suspect the Letby case has a lot of these issues too as it is one of the more well-known cases and it explains why they tried to cover stuff up and the amateur errors. Letby is a shit nurse but it is a cover up of corruption and systematic negligence.

Nigerians are bad as well. They worship paper qualifications, but they will lie and cheat to get them to the point that even the chinese think they're going to far.

I guess this is the difference between "based" gujas like my GP and the new incomers. He trained here, in the 90s, which means he was able to live up to some minimum standard of competence that you just don't see any more. I can't even say it's all Blair's fault (and I really, really like blaming Tony Blair for things), because as much as he fucked up everything, it was the Tories after him that really opened up the floodgates for immigrant staffing. They were mostly from the EU at the time, from eastern Europe, but the policy changes they put in place guaranteed the current staffing nightmare by creating incentives to recruit from abroad.

Worst part is, you can't even go private without the same shit, these days. They're all overrun with cheap immigrant staff as well.

As an aside: when you replace "knife" with "immigrant" in news reports, they make a lot more sense. Knife is clearly a slur for immigrant. We should inform the world about this duplicitous calumny.
