A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Run a VPN, run a script killer, run Linux, run none google search engines and browsers, etc. Do what ever you can to keep your online data out of their hands.

Naturally it can only go so far and your ISP can always dob you in but in there here and now make it as difficult as possible.
Learn how to use Tor, even just as a clearnet browser it's the best option for the average user wanting to avoid Big Brother. There's nothing hard about it either, I was genuinely shocked how many kiwis reported not knowing how to use it back when DropKiwifarms happened, if you can install and use Firefox then you can install and use Tor.

The Manchester airport incident thugs lawyer has been detained by counter terror police

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/lawyer-akhmed-yakoob-detained-counter-30832347
Their former lawyer, they moved on from him likely because that dumbass was making up all sorts of mystery injuries.
Controversial Birmingham lawyer and would-be MP Akhmed Yakoob was detained by police near Calais last night under the Terrorism Act and questioned about his political beliefs. His phone and laptop were seized as part of ongoing inquiries by counter-terrorism police.

A furious Yakoob claimed he was stopped by UK border officers before he was questioned by British counter-terror police because of his vocal pro-Gaza stance and political aspirations. He said he intended to submit a complaint about his detention, which took place under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Yakoob, 37, said he was detained for around six hours - the maximum permitted under the Schedule - and missed the last Channel Tunnel train of the night as a result, leaving him stranded overnight. "They asked me about my mayoral campaign, about my views on Gaza, about whether I knew anything about Hamas, about Hizbollah, what I thought of the Gaza situation, my political campaigning, who funded my political campaigns and whether I intended to stand again. Of course I said yes I do intend to stand."

"The questions were very politically-focussed. I am a stoic person, but it was clear it was politically motivated. I was very open about my views to them," he said. Colleagues with him were also subsequently detained under the same powers and asked about their views, he said.

Yakoob said he was allowed to leave after the period of detention and was not arrested. He said he was awaiting the return of his electronic devices, which can be kept for up to seven days under the act's terms. A document seen by BirminghamLive confirmed the devices were detained as part of counter-terrorism inquiries.

He said he granted PIN access to the devices only after receiving assurances any legally sensitive information involving clients would first be assessed independently and protected before being handed over to the police. On the questioning that took place, he said: "I think they wanted to belittle me and question my political motivations for standing against main parties. The way they treated me like a terrorist was unacceptable, just for standing for election."

Yakoob was in the headlines recently after he had to apologise and make a substantial payout to a young teacher who was left in fear and 'hunted' when he shared a falsely-captioned video claiming she was a racist. He paid out in the face of a potential defamation and injuries claim.

In the aftermath of the payout to the young teacher, revealed last weekend, Birmingham Yardley MP Jess Phillips, safeguarding minister for the Government, said Yakoob was 'not fit for public office.' He remains under investigation by the Solicitor Regulation Authority over the case.

Yakoob stood for election twice last year - in the West Midlands mayoral campaign, polling more than 69,000 votes in coming third behind Labour's Richard Parker and Conservative Andy Street; and in the General Election against Labour's Shabana Mahmood in Birmingham Ladywood. He was narrowly defeated by Ms Mahmood, who is now Justice Secretary. He has revealed he intends to stand again.

During and after the campaign both Mahmood and Phillips told of harassment and intimidation tactics against them by supporters of independent activists in the city, as anger over Labour's position on Gaza played out. Mahmood said at the time: "This was a campaign sullied by harassment and intimidation, of me, my family and all the people who went out and knocked on doors and handed out leaflets and tried to get their voices heard. Bravely, they continued...because this wasn't just an assault on us, this was an assault on democracy itself."

Mr Yakoob added today: "Jess Phillips recently said I was unfit for public office. What is wrong with standing for election, legitimately? Just because these politicians have not been challenged before, they want to shut me down." He said he believed his detention had a political angle.

Schedule 7 gives police officers the power to stop, question, search, and detain people at the UK's borders. The purpose of these powers is to determine if a person or their goods may be involved in terrorism. Examining officers can stop and question people at ports, airports, international rail stations, and the border area.

They can also search people, vehicles, and goods, and detain people if necessary. Only police officers with national accreditation can use Schedule 7 powers. People can be held for up to six hours 'in order to determine whether they are a terrorist' and detention does not require reasonable grounds for suspicion or prior authorisation by a senior officer.

Mr Yakoob told BirminghamLive he was heading home last night after spending time travelling in Europe, including seeing clients, accompanied by two fellow lawyers and two other friends, when he was detained initially by border police as they arrived to board the Euro Tunnel near Calais.

The car they were in was subject to a random search under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, he said, with 'nothing of significance' found. "We were told we were free to go but then the border police officer said other police wanted to speak with me."

He said he was told the reason for his continued questioning and detention was under Schedule 7 and was 'on the grounds of national security'. He said: "I am a lawyer, a politician, a known person, there was no reason for it."

Among the organisations he was asked about were Hizbollah, a banned terror organisation in the UK that is committed to armed resistance to the state of Israel and aims to seize all Palestinian territories and Jerusalem from Israel. It supports terrorism in Iraq and the Palestinian territories. Hamas is the ruling authority in Gaza and is proscribed in the UK on the basis that it 'commits and participates in terrorism'.

We have contacted counter terrorism police who monitor the Calais border and await a response.

"If only Amazon hadn't sold him this knife, then this wouldn't have happened" isn't a very compelling argument given he was also convicted of making RICIN.
It may hurt you but I did indeed manage to buy Ricin in Greggs but in fashion was kicked out for being racist. I could not help it, I bought a boxcutter knife from Amazon two days prior and just holding the cold metal in my hand. I needed to scream "Nigger" in Greggs albeit the cashier was Pakistani but that is beside the point. That boxcutter blade MADE me racist in Greggs and also made me want to seek out Ricin.

This is a pessimistic viewpoint and I hope I'm wrong. I doubt they'll waste this opportunity.
The main thing that makes me think it will not happen, is the NHS computer system that started over 20 years ago, and still doesn't work and they stopped pretending to have an end date and actually can you fucking stop mentioning it please!

They are too busy helping paki rape gangs and robbing the public purse to actually do anything, plus it might actually expose serious issues in the nation. Cannot have that.

Perhaps you or someone could educate me because I'm not a bonglander

Is drug driving driving under the influence or you're just driving with drugs on you? In America, if you have a prescription, as long as it's in the original container you bought it from and you don't smoke while driving, it's perfectly legal to possess medical marijuana.

I know Britbong police are faggots, but I'm not educated enough on UK law to understand or make fun of him. Or just don't smoke weed while driving lol

My sympathies for not being spawned from God's Own Island.

You can get pulled over for any old stupid reason they come up with just like in the US, drug driving is if you're under the influence of something that's fucking with your ability to drive, could be marijuanas could be fentanyl it just means you're off your head on something it's not being in possession; it's DUI but for anything other than alcohol basically. Possession of drugs themselves is a separate but usually related offense.
So presumably the chain of events will have been; DUDEWEEDLMAO enthusiast went out racing in his fartbox loud car like the twat he is, cops thought "what a twat lets try our luck" and pulled him over, and he was dumb enough to have drugs in his system so he gets slapped with drug driving like the reprobate he is.

I wonder if I can get a bullshit "private prescription for anxiety" for alcohol, so when the filth pull me over stinking of booze with an open tin of spesh in the cupholder I can act like a weepy faggot on youtube?
