https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I said in the other thread but this is utterly disingenuous and a really good example of lying with stats.
The headline data is ‘1-2% normal birth defect rate, that doubles ish after 34, ish, and 3-6% with inbreeding.’ So they use that to insist that it’s no different to being 34 or older.
But it IS very different. They’re comparing the often very minor ‘commonest birth defects’ with absolutely catastrophic 24-hr-care-for-life disaster stuff the Pakistani kids are being born with. So in their lying, you could have say ten kids born with a minor fixable cleft lip, a hypospadia and atrial septal defect, all of which are fixable or minor with a pool of ten kids who need 24 hour care forever and benefits for family. It’s not the same. The ‘regular’ birth defects will also include many downs etc cases most of which get aborted in our ‘progressive’ times.
It’s such a nasty misuse of the stats. It is NOT the same. If you took any NHS geneticist in many cities here and check their caseload, it will be overwhelmingly Muslim cousin marriage products.
Lies, damn lies and statistics.

Hislop put his and the eye's entire weight behind Wakefield's retarded, fundamentally unscientific MMR scaremongering, the fallout from which has made the study of vaccine side effects so utterly toxic that nobody is willing to risk even mentioning the idea, out of the fear of being branded a vaccine denier pariah. There's a direct line from that to the rona madness. He can hang with the rest of the media-political class.
An entire special issue in 2001 was dedicated to this absolute unfounded bullshit, which if I remember correctly Hislop still has not held his hands up and withdrawn. The "just asking questionssss" bullshit coverage continued until 2007. Six bloody years he printed this shit.

The fall in MMR vaccinations following Wakefield's fraud continues to cost small lives every year, in a country where there is no need whatsoever for kids to be dying of fucking measles.

The willingness of Hislop to grant any kind of figleaf of respectability to Wakefield also lit an absolute fire, more in the US than here, under an industry of flat-out swindlers who prey to this day on desperate parents of the severely autistic with cures that are at best snake oil and are at worst life threatening; people continue to attempt to peddle drinking bleach as an autism treatment. Bleach. (see https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/intern...autism-cures-private-facebook-groups-n1007871 and then leave the internet for the day)

It does Hislop, who I otherwise have a lot of time for, absolutely no credit not to hold his hands up and admit that in retrospect, he was gulled and he fell for Wakefield's bullshit. I am quite willing to believe he printed the original dogshit in good faith, but with a distressing lack of objective inquiry. I do not believe he would have published this knowing or even strongly suspecting the full extent of Wakefield's medical malpractice and outright fraud. I have no respect for not admitting that in retrospect he got that call very, very wrong, and he has always been incredibly leery of even addressing the question. He and Private Eye got off incredibly easy compared to the Lancet.

The work of Brian Deer in following up and exposing Wakefield's fucking lies was, in contrast, a shining example of quality investigative journalism.

Wakefield knowingly and deliberately directly hurt children in his care, and indirectly but foreseeably harmed thousands more, in order to obtain wealth and fame for himself. That should never be forgotten about him.

I also agree with @teriyakiburns - regardless of your personal views on the risk to benefit profile of the Covid vaccines, any possibility of cautious, thoughtful inquiry about the side effect profile in public discourse was made fundamentally impossible by association with fucking Wakefield. The Great Vaccine Scandal of living memory in the UK was a fraud of the lowest kind, and anyone who identifies as a "vaccine questioner" of any kind is therefore automatically lumped in with Wakefield's delulu bleach brigade. I do not possess the scientific knowledge to form an informed opinion about the risks of the Covid vaccine. But I do know that everyone IRL who raised that issue with me was already known to me to be a fucking lunatic who was somewhere between absolute denial and complete disinterest in the potential harm measles could do to their children and mine. That kind of shitty branding sticks: if everyone you know who holds Y opinion also holds A, B and C opinions which you know to be retarded and deluded, you naturally seriously doubt the veracity of Y opinion. That allowed the UK government to push very hard and very fast with the rollout of AstraZeneca, which we no longer even use.

Probably because successive governments have been emptying buckets of public funds into this leaky collender of an organization every four years.
Indeed

I wouldn’t even say it’s leaky though honestly. All the issues really started kicking off when the Mogrant Crisis TM started to happen - and thanks to Starmer we know that was a plan to fuck us all - fix that and the issues go away.

But that would require us to have a way to actually hold Gov Accountable.

Canadian MAID counts for 4.6% of all deaths this year. In 2027, MAID will be offered to those with mental illness. Who defines mental illness? The same system who will give you MAID.

Why is such a big deal being made over sara sherriff - just one victim of honour-killings conducted by pakis in Britain?

the government said it would introduce a new duty so that parents need local authority consent to home-school children if the child is subject to a protection plan.

Ohhh.

Bonus bullshit:

The new proposals would include a child identifier, to act like an NHS number, with a requirement for every council to have multi-agency child safeguarding teams.

"We clearly need answers as to how this could have happened. We're focused on doing everything within our power to stop this type of terrible crime happening again," a No 10 spokesperson said.
"Doing everything in our power to stop it, except do the one thing that would stop it".

I think we know how that home school consent is going to work out:

tbh the world needs less boomers and mentally fragile people anyway. just keep an eye on the people you care about.

Anyone who says this should be pushed into the ovens for being retarded. Doubly so for using a term like boomer.
The 'anti-boomer' propaganda is pushed by governments to get the yewf and mid-life adults to want to kill their elderly, often well-off, relatives, which relieves the burden on the state.

First they came for the biddies and I said nothing because I wasn't one.
Then they came for the retirees and I said nothing because I wasn't one.
Then they came for me and everyone else was an inbred niggerpaki offspring and were too retarded to speak.

Not least because we didn't really have an "everyone is rich, let's shit out kids in our 5 dollar mansions" baby boom in this country, we still had rationing until 1954 for fucks sake.

The gangrenous spread of American "culture" via the vector of Internet access for the weak minded needs to be ended.

As with most medical matters, the topic is multivariate and quite complicated. The disorders that you experience from both groups are typically different levels of severity as you mentioned.

Consanguineous marriages [Source/Archive]
Increased risk of: muscular dystrophy, thalassaemias, cystic fibrosis, Down’s syndrome, infantile cerebral palsy, Glanzmann thrombasthenia, congenital hyperinsulinism, hearing and visual disabilities.

Also...
"Many malformations, particularly those with a genetic basis, are found more frequently within certain families, especially if there is any degree of consanguinity in the marriages over the generations. A good example is the increased occurrence of extra digits among some families within the Amish community in the United States."
Source: Human Embryology and Developmental Biology, 6th.
And...
"Consanguineous unions (mating between individuals who are second cousins or closer) are at increased risk for an autosomal recessive disorder because there is a higher likelihood that both individuals carry the same recessive mutation."
Source: Fanaroff and Martin's Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Maternal Age-related Birth Defects
Fetal aneuploidy (abnormal number of chromosomes), fetal growth restriction, twin pregnancy, gestational diabetes, preterm delivery, and the likelihood of fetal loss increases as a function of maternal age. Some of this can be mitigated through effective screening programs.
"Chromosomal analysis of samples from spontaneous abortions, prenatal diagnosis, and live births reveals that there is a steady increase in aneuploidy as a woman ages."
Source: Fanaroff and Martin's Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

For paternal age...
"The link between advanced maternal age and genetic abnormalities has been well established. The role of advanced paternal age, defined as 40 or older, is not as clear. It has been established that the rate of base substitution mutations during spermatogenesis increases as a man ages. The risk of de novo autosomal dominant disorders in offspring of fathers 40 years old or older is estimated at 0.3% or lower. Some evidence has suggested that advanced paternal age is associated with an increased risk for complex disorders such as schizophrenia, autism, and congenital anomalies. The relative risk for these conditions is 2% or less. Although there may be slightly increased risk for a range of disorders associated with advanced paternal age, the overall risk remains low".
Source: Fanaroff and Martin's Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Summary: severe disorders with a life-long impact on the child are typically more common in cousin marriages. If you want to fast track your family resemblance to Sloth from The Goonies then first-cousin marriages are the best way to go.

On balance, you can argue that a pregnancy with a higher maternal age can be guided and mitigated more effectively than a consanguineous marriage.

tbh the world needs less boomers and mentally fragile people anyway.
So all generations then - most sensitive people tend to be young and also inexperienced.

Anti-boomerism is a bit of a meme. Some day we will all be old and vulnerable and there will be young folk saying the exact same thing about you. Remember that there would be people barely two generations ago that would kill for a chance at life in modernity. Quality of life is pretty good for more and more people. Criticize the boomers for their failures on certain topics, sure, but we did get to this point through a lot of people working hard and paying their taxes.

There's been a drumbeat of this sort of propaganda for years. Decades, perhaps. I remember back in the late 90s, media types were running stories in which retirees were pilloried for spending their money, instead of living in miserable penury so their kids could inherit it and spend it instead. It felt like there was a certain amount of resentment from the up-and-coming media'n'culcha set that they weren't getting the lifestyle they'd been promised.

Some of it was justified, from a certain point of view, especially given who promised them that lifestyle at the time. There was a lot of "just get a job, firm handshake, i started out sweeping shit out of the manager's crack and worked all the way up to manager" fuckery, accompanied actual boomers pulling up the ladder behind them around that period (tory conversion of polytechnics to mediocre universities, everything Labour did with education and apprenticeships). The problem is, they laid the blame at the feet of the proles, rather than where it should have been, and their solution always ends up boiling down to euthanasia.

Worst thing is, what the mentally ill want change frequently. Even the ones that say they want to die frequently do not actually ever want to die. It’s always ‘i want to fie because no one is giving me the help they all say I need and I can’t take it wnymore’

In short, offering them death would undoubtedly come ynder abuse and break several laws.

Here's the rub; the mentally ill, by definition, cannot legally agree to anything, because they're mentally ill.
Who signs off the papers saying they can die? The parents who no longer want to tard wrangle, the siblings and children of the dementia-riddled, purse-clutching rich relatives and the Serial-killers-in-white-coats parading as Dr's who will sign their death warrant with ZERO oversight.

Mengele and Shipman would be licking their fucking chops right now.

Because if it did, we finally get the NEW choice of immigration and Israel first, or immigration and Israel first (but we swear we'll stop the boats, Goys!).
A reminder that these petitions rarely have any impact based on popularity alone. There was a petition to revoke Article 50 back in the Brexit days that got over 6 million votes but had zero impact. This one is likely to be no different.

The Wikipedia article lists the petitions by popularity if anyone is interested in similar examples.

They're just a pressure valve. The response from Government is always "thanks for the feedback, but no". If they get to the debate threshold, the Opposition might try and use them to score political points, but journalists usually only bother clipping PMQs for soundbites and the outcome is always "thanks for the feedback, but no". I can't think of a single petition that had any meaningful impact whatsoever, because there's nothing binding the Government to take them seriously.

There are only two actual ways to make the government stop doing something.
1) Fuck with their money
2) Fuck with their power.

Normal people cannot do either. If everyone who signed this petition instead went and refused to pay taxes, or smashes a traffic camera, or even just marched around outside Downing Street calling the PM a cunt, it would have maybe done something.
