A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Baddies 4 Badenoch when? I need something to pair with my Liz 4 Leader and Labour branded Brexit t-shirts.
Related, but the thing that irritated me about the strikes was the bus drivers, I see the adverts on the back of the busses advertising for an amazing career at ~£13 an hour. Call me insane, but if I was on near minimum wage I'd not be striking, I would be looking into how I can aquire the skills to get a better job. Saying this apparently makes me an uncaring, unkind cunt, and the people enabling it are working class heroes or some shit.
The appeal of being a bus driver (unlike being a richcunt train driver) isn't the pay it's the job security and guaranteed hours and all that, if you live in Shitburh and don't have the capability to do better then it really is a decent enough deal. Gotta bear in mind most poorfags in post-industrial hellscapes don't have as high a standard for such things 15/16 of the ancestors will have been coal miners/subsistence peasants afterall.

The slap fights in this thread are excellent, i'll never look into the US politics thread again. Bong problems are also a lot more similar to problems in my own country, eerily so. Globohomo in full effect.
Most people who describe themselves as working class in the UK don't even actually work anyways.
See this as an example, working class means you've been on the dole for 20 years and became a grandma at 35 here these days.

This is not to mention that Kemi will probably be a huge hypocrite and use her own brand of identity politics analogous to Cleverly's tweet about "pale, stale men".
Quite possibly. She is somewhat headstrong though. At least the opposition may have some bite to it if nothing else. Starmer didn't seem too strong willed when he was debating with Sunak, so I don't rate his chances against Badenoch. Let's see what happens.
They will spout any and all manner of racist viewpoints and stereotypes in the justification that the proud minority of colour in question is on the wrong side of history.
Agreed. There are no appealing counter arguments to fanatics. She has used race as a defence tactic before, I just think it will lead to some amusing exchanges.

I remember years ago a woman coming into work absolutely distraught as a bus had ran into an old guy and she said his head came clean off.

We obviously told her to go straight home and not to worry about coming back to quickly so she could get herself right.

Not the best way to start the day.

We all just want to suckle on those big chocolate milkers.

Only if they give back Calais to us.
I knew a bloke who started at one place on nights as agency. That night his missus threw herself off a bridge and hit a van belonging to that company. Fucked up start to a career, they gave him paid time off.

Starmer is an authoritarian narc who assumes that everyone is scared of him and will do exactly what he says and when he is challenged he simply cannot comprehend that someone won't do what he says. Badenoch will get under his skin. Whether dunking on him at PMQs will mean anything of course is doubtful. William Hague used to bat Tony Blair around like a cat toy whenever they debated and Blair still crushed him electorally.

Blair was - in fairness -- also Duke Paimon, infernal lord of the 5th circle, most vile on high and the great anathaema. So Hague losing out was expected.

On the contrary, we've seen how leftists behave whenever their pet minorities turn against them. They will spout any and all manner of racist viewpoints and stereotypes in the justification that the proud minority of colour in question is on the wrong side of history.
Already happened.

William Hague used to bat Tony Blair around like a cat toy whenever they debated and Blair still crushed him electorally.
The difference is, Hague fundamentally lacked confidence in his positions, because he didn't believe them. People saw that lack of sincerity in his beliefs, saw that insincerity was shared by the mass of politicians that made up the tory party front bench, and so didn't turn out for any of them in numbers large enough to overturn Blair's labour majority. The same lack of sincerity among the tory old guard (coupled with an inability to read the room) is why Sunak and co lost the election for the tories. Badenoch, for whatever faults she may have, at least appears sincere in her views. That counts for a lot.

Didn't Mr Tennant get in some hot water recently with comments about Badenoch?
Just another male feminist saying aloud he wants a woman to "not exist" or "shut up."

No hot water though, see he's a good ally so he gets a misogyny pass when it's targeting someone who doesn't support progressive politics.

Sainsbury's are selling fake fruit and something is fucky with their milk. It doesn't taste milky or creamy and goes off in no time.

The milks likely over filterd and bought on the cheap because nobody else wanted it they used to do this back in the day when EVERYTHING they sold was branded "Blue Parrot Cafe" for a while the contracted with Arla but that's likely changed now.
