A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I hate this video btw. Tom Nicholas needs to be beaten. Like hard, with sticks. I want to see a crowd of violent feral niggers kicking him in as he's in the fetal position. He's just insufferable.

So much of this video is him showing how hard he's working by driving from what is the equivalent distance of Atlanta to DC. Oh, woe is him! What a terrifying trek! Only the finest YouTubers can do such an amazing journey in the name of interviewing locals about their local tribunals!
 
Southport attack suspect Axel Rudakubana charged over 'Al Qaeda terror PDF and making poison'

An 18-year-old accused of carrying out the Southport attack which killed three children has been charged with terror offences, after detectives revealed they found a deadly toxin and a study paper of a Jihad 'training manual' at his home.

Police said they discovered the a PDF titled "military studies in the Jihad against the tyrants the Al Qaeda training manual" and the deadly toxin ricin while searching the suspect's home.

Axel Rudakubana, of Lancashire has already been charged with three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder after the knife attack in July.

He is accused of taking a 'curved blade kitchen knife' to a Taylor Swift themed dance party full of children and attacking them.

Speaking at a news conference this lunchtime, Chief Constable of Merseyside Police Serena Kennedy said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Axel Rudakubana, aged 18 from Lancashire, to be charged with two further offences. Axel Rudakubana already faces three charges of murder, 10 charges of attempted murder, and one charge of possession of a knife, all relating to the incident at Hart Street on the 29th of July, 2024.

"The two further offences relate to evidence obtained by Merseyside police during searches of Axel Rudakubana's home address as part of a lengthy and complex investigation which has been ongoing since the 29th of July.

"The additional charges are production of a biological toxin, namely ricin, contrary to Section One of the biological weapons act 1974 and possession of information, namely a PDF file entitled military studies in the jihad against the tyrants, the al Qaeda training Manual likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing to commit an act of terrorism contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act. 2000."

I’m waiting for the inevitable “was of interest to the security services”. Or how there’s a bunch of related arrests despite this being a “lone wolf.”

A lot of this will get memory holed as soon as possible. I hope we’re all smart enough not to use them but avoid discussing this case on Facebook or Twitter because our masters will want to make examples out of a few more people to keep us all quiet.
 
The authorities have clearly known this for a while. They always said that he came from a Christian family, for instance, not that he was a Christian. The phrasing alone was suspect.

Guaranteed. That family didn't choose to move from Cardiff; they were moved because of his behaviour. Moving problem families into a different LA is how they deal with anti-social behaviour these days. It wouldn't surprise me if he was about to be shunted off to some other part of the country and decided to go out in a blaze of glory.

This govt alone caused the riots and evryone knows it. Starmer's probably diamonds right now, like when a serial killer finally gets to claim credit. It's also likely the release of this today was heavily managed, so that
1. Tommy Robinson is behind bars (as of yesterday in the same high security prison as Rudakubana)
2. The public can be nice and outraged over this and hopefully miss that tomorrow's budget is a mean-spirited raid on the working and middle classes and it will fuck them over.

There was an unsubstantiated rumour going round that he'd recently converted to Islam despite his family's Church going (I'd also note a lot of Rwandans have been converting to Islam since the genocide because they see it as not having the baggage of Christianity/the Church being associated with the Rwandan genocide... although multiple credible seeming locals seemed to suggest Axel was pro-TTD; Total Tutsi Death).

Not just this government, every past government for the past half-century at the very least. They have consistently placed third-world interests above that of native Britons and Europeans and allowed them to be raped and butchered by animals. No amount of words can condemn them enough.

Glad the details of the investigation are finally coming out. In normal circumstances it would feel good to be vindicated, but the Southport saga is just a sad mess. Yet another young Jihadist that will be memory holed away, with no accountability from the blue checkmark defenders who spent most of July desperately running cover stories for this total waste of carbon. What a great victory for Allah the merciful.

I wonder what kind of ChatGPT response we will get from Mr Starmer? Hopefully that lady will have more information for a solid appeal now that the details are out in the public domain. I'm not optimistic about that though.

Found Ricin and took months to admit it. During which time they were almost certainly examining the location he attacked, his victims, his travel route and more all while trying to hide that was what they were looking into.

Pretty sure that at this point, if a whole community of native Brits got offed, the main issue would be how immigrants are the real victims and are in the most danger because those hecking racist far-rightists were just looking for an excuse to be evil far-rightists.

Speaking of which, it's just come out that minimum wage is due to rise by 6% from £11.44 to £12.12.

Wage compression is already a problem but between this and the employer national insurance contributions I'm not only going to struggle to retain talent, but I might even need to let someone go.
 
I wonder if the powers that be even realise that deliberately withholding this kind of information in an attempt to protect the wider community actually does the opposite when that information eventually comes out.
