A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I never saw them growing up or as a young adult. I only see them now in the posh pubs I drink in. Those people are clearly zoophiles.
You grew into an adult in chain pubs.
A real fire, game of dominos, someone selling duty free tobacco and a comb-phobic dog are staples of a pub.

Add wooden pinball machines if you remember the old 2 pence coin

You know what I miss? Pub birds. I have fond memories as a child of meeting a random parrot or watching canaries or budgies in a cage in the middle of pub. Admittedly it was probably bad for their little lungs with how smokey pubs used to be, but I miss them. Especially parrots. I'd never own a parrot because they're far too much of a burden and live forever, but they're smart little things and always fun to encounter.
No canary would have lasted 30 seconds in some of the tar-thick 'air' I remember from pubs of my younger days.

If it doesn't have Brian Glover, a pentagram on the wall and serves a hot drink other than tea, it's not a real pub.

Adam Smith-Connor becomes first Christian convicted for thought-crime in modern Britain

This is a very worrying precedent to set.
Cromwell was a patriot who spoke out and fought against the establishment when doing so was extremely dangerous and he was willing to die for those beliefs.
He did a lot of very bad things too.
hate on Cromwell for actually wanting Christmas to be a Christian holy day and not a Jewish holiday
Cromwell let the Jews back in, they’d been kicked out in 1290 or whenever and they financed him to sort out the king and the Celtic fringe. .

A grandfather convicted of violent disorder after taking part in rioting outside a hotel used to house asylum seekers has died in prison.
Peter Lynch, 61, was serving two years and eight months after he pleaded guilty to being part of the unrest at the Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham on 4 August. He shouted "racist and provocative remarks" towards officers and called asylum seekers in the hotel "child killers", Sheffield Crown Court heard at his sentencing.

A spokesperson for the Prison Service said Lynch, who had been at HMP Moorland in Doncaster, died on Saturday. "As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate," the spokesperson added.

"Family man" Lynch, who had suffered a heart attack earlier in the year and had also been diagnosed with diabetes, had gone to the hotel to protest against immigration, his defence barrister said.

He had "a general conspiracy theory against anyone and any form of authority", and had taken a placard referencing the "deep state" and space agency Nasa.

Video played to the court showed Lynch "revving up" the situation before it turned violent and calling the police "scum", the judge said. Lynch was photographed with a placard which called some groups of people corrupt.

Lynch, of Burman Road, in Wath-upon-Dearne, had three grandchildren was described by his barrister as "very caring". He was jailed on 22 August following his guilty plea to violent disorder.

I wonder if this is a natural death or like the guy who left strips of bacon outside of a mosque who made it six months before dying inside, and after a LOT of prevarication and back and forth and attempts to let it die down, they finally stated he died of a methadone overdose. Which were it true would just raise even more questions, frankly.

Thoughts with his family.

Now that really *is* confusing.
I assumed it was just the standard method of locking him in a room with the appropriate people until he dies. Too much bureaucratic overhead? Too many suspects that they don't want to actually punish?
And, if this wasn't induced, are they just openly admitting that their medical department is incompetent?
Surely someone dying due to something they were improperly prescribed is cause for serious investigation? (Although this *is* the NHS after all. I recall dentists pulling out the wrong teeth in error recently being removed from the list of "things that should never happen and indicate gross incompetence")

When the Scottish government said that violent offenders wouldn't be released early due to overcrowding, they were lying.

Data released from the Scottish Prison Service revealed 188 of 477 prisoners released early to free up space had committed non-sexual violent crime, 39.4% of those released.

Archive of the BBC article. The most likely CoD are natural causes or suicide but it could have been a violent incident, although you would think that this would have been disclosed. The Muslim population in the prison is not massive but (perhaps unsurprisingly) is over represented.

I fear this will not be the last from this group.

However I'm sure the police are arresting hundreds and the courts are working around the clock to put away the Palestine protestors. Wait, what's that? 17 arrests? For doing exactly the same as this guy did, except there's no 'violent disorder' mentioned, it's public order offences.

Oh to be a Muslim in current day Britain. It must be like having the keys to the chocolate factory.

So it's being wieldy reported as a suicide but we don't know the specifics on why. From what we do know the man was in his 60's, autistic and facing almost 3 years in prison for little more then shouting and holding a sign so all that stacked upon what ever else wouldn't e surprising if that's what made him do it.

Now the big question on if violence from Muslim gangs made him do it are still up in the air. From how prolific and unregulated Muslim gangs are in prisons, it would not be a shock at all if it comes out that there was an incident or that threats were being made though lets be honest, this was a part of the punishment. Labour admitted to as much when they were throwing them away on minor offences.

Interesting there that the Muslim figures are higher than the Asian figures. That does suggest to me that there's a Muslim gang seeking converts.

Got to factor in African Muslims, Arabs, and the mixed race people, but napkin maths does suggest to get to 16.8% of the prison population it must necessarily include some whites (although some of those whites could be Albanians, Bosnians etc). It's apparently a known phenomenon in British prisons for some people to claim to have converted to Judaism/Islam because kosher/halal catering tends to be separate (and therefore nicer than regular prison food) but I don't know if that holds true any more.

This is basically a state sponsored political assassination. I'm sure it was on purpose. The pigs who did this are traitors and murderers who had best hope they never get what they deserve.

I frankly don't believe it. Even if it was they probably deliberately threw him into the mix and made sure the muzzy wuzzies knew who was among them. He was also physically ill with diabetes and I bet they gave him shitty medical care too, which could contribute to depression.

They are trying to make these "rioters" into monkeys on sticks to scare the other monkeys and the more of them die, the more the terror effect. State sponsored terrorism against the citizenry, or rather, the subjects.
