https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The dead can’t sue you. His supporters are fucking mental. Imagine if Reddit, O&A forums, and Doxbin had a baby, then that baby was shut in a dark room and molested by Rab C. Nesbitt. It doesn’t matter how legal what you say is, they’ll be crying to your police and employer and the press about how offended they are until you’ve got the police at your door, a meeting with HR, and your name in the papers.

The court case against him collapsed as it looks like there was some deliberate fuckery by the SNP and doxing and harassing by Alex supporters who thought it was a grand conspiracy cooked up by MI5.

Its going to take a brave journalist to bring this up, despite it being a matter of public knowledge that women were advised not to be in his office alone WHEN HE WAS FIRST MINISTER and was almost banned from Edinburgh airport for harassing staff.

This will be another case of the establishment know the entire time and pretending to be shocked when it comes out.
I knew about him being nearly banned from Turnhouse, I've a friend who worked there, she confessed it all to me when she was off her tits drunk.

And yeah, I lived in Scotland for several years. The absolute batshittery from the SNP was next level. I was on fence about Independence, but reading the white paper swayed me. The fucking idiot had costed his budget relying on Brent Crude being over $100 a barrel forever. between that and the flat our hatred I got for being English, those 8 seconds in a ballot box ticking "no" and the ensuing shit storm when the result was declared, was the finest moment of decmoracy I have ever had.

It's all the more fantastic the fat prick died during a Scotland game. Absolutely top quality KEK.

The guy was a bully and a sex pest. Corrupt to his core too.
We already know he was an SNP politician.
Are there any good politicians?
Mrs Thatcher.
Always liked John Major too. Seemed like he was opposite boris. Clever behind the scenes but useless in front of the camera.

Maybe IDS if he could actually grow a spine.

And defo the right and honourable Desmond Swayne

People absolutely despise Thatcher and get their panties in a wad over butbutbut muh mineerrzzz,
It wasn't just the closing of the mines, but the inhumane way she treated the miners who just wanted to dig coal and earn money. Thatcher sent the coal mining to the chinks, fucked the Northern industrial base to this day, sent communities into poverty they've never recovered from and, by default of shipping millions of tons of coal on a boat from China, released a fuck ton of unnecessary pollution into the seas and atmosphere.

Then to save her scaly arse she started a pointless war, cheated an election by having the dead vote for her, while sending her polling party to old people's homes to change their proxy vote from labour to tory.

The transfer of wealth from the north, combined with flogging the council houses dirt cheap to her southern, elite lackies, create poverty and misaligned wealth distribution that would be felt to this day, if those said elitists didn't use those houses to jam them full of pakis and niggers.

Blair didn't start the immigration crisis, Thatcher did by laying down the foundations for millions of unskilled poor brownoids to settle into empoverished areas. All Blair did was wave them in by the fuck load so he could continue to line his toffy-nosed mates' pockets.

There's a very good reason a lot of towns in the north had parties when Thatcher died and it wasn't because of some grave dancing over an unpopular politician, it was because, for the first time in decades, those people get express their feelings without fart-huffing faggots calling them inhuman.

Remember the BBC refusing to play "Ding, dong the witch is dead" because it was the top of the charts for a week? Yeah. The same media fuckwits who covered for saville and censored Covid questions while calling people conspiracy theorists.

I read a lot of posts on this site that think the paki menace, BBC bias and media fuckery is a recent thing, but it isn't. You've been lied to for longer than most have been alive.

TL;DR - Those who think Thatcher was a saint, are the same people telling me to wear a mask and get untested juice pumped into my veins.

@Bog-standard Poster: Not sure how Covid comes into it, but I've never been vaccinated or worn a mask, never had a test, and yes, I might stay off work when I'm sick, but I'm lucky enough to work for a company (in a Northern town, if we're going to cock wave geography) that pays sick pay.

People in The Norrff have been fucked by all politicians, Labour and Tories alike, like the rest of us - just they choose to overlook it if the rosette is red.

To be frank, if they had to wait until a demented old woman was dead to express themselves" then they're cucked, spineless little faggots, what a truly ridiculous argument to make. That's the most absurd thing I've read in a whiles.
All politics suck. All politicians suck. At least Thatcher wasn't part of the old boys public school network and broke the mould with that. Doesn't mean she was a saint or a good person, but the fact that a woman (!!!) who wasn't educated in the "right" school shat up the establishment to the extent every PM since has been of that mould, and that's not a coincidence.

Masks and coof vacces are for faggots, I agree with you on that, so not sure what point you're trying to make?

Thatcher sent the police in places like ormskirk and that is what people remember her for. Ripping the industrial strength out of Britain and kicking the shit out of working people who objected. Nothing replaced that industry, people wanted work and nothing ever replaced it. The destruction was bad.
My view of her is mixed. She was canny, I can respect her sheer balls, and some of what she did but I can’t forgive what was done to places like my hometown.
Major failed in Kosovo I think. Otherwise not terrible domestically.
Interesting about Stewart.
Closing the pits was done poorly by Labour and the tories. The whole country sits on high quality coal - most pits weren’t even properly mothballed to allow easy re use. They just allowed them to flood. We could have cheap clean coal tech and we blew it.
Was never a fan of portillo in government but I’ve enjoyed his train journeys series.
It would be interesting to sit down and talk honestly with a lot of these figures. We judge, and often harshly, things like Kosovo, but you never know the full story of what pressures happen behind the scenes.
In the subject of Kosovo didn’t paddy ashdown do a better job there than in the house as well?

So Starmer just wants to go full steam ahead on crippling all public services. So the fucking cunt says about the Tories ruining shit yet does a Kamala and opens the floodgates.

These people have nothing but spite for the middle and working class. Gee it would be fucking great if he has to pass shit through parliment first.

I can't wait for Vance to dress him down, he will destroy him.

There’s no such thing. This is a fantasy dreamed up by US coal magnantes and repeated by lefty retards who and emotionally and intectually stunted and can’t cope with the fact the world has changed since the 1970s.

Was never a fan of portillo in government but I’ve enjoyed his train journeys series.
Portillo would have been a good prime minister, all ruined by taking it up the arse at university from some drippy queer who couldn’t keep his mouth shut rather than leave that stuff at boarding school like a regular Tory. His train series is peak comfy viewing and worth a watch to anyone who hasn’t seen it.

People think Tory Toffs are the establishment but they haven’t been for the last thirty to forty year. We’re ruined by an elite class of globalists like Starmer who have somehow made being the servants of the billionaire class is the good boi “leftwing” position and everything else is evil/rightwing.

I just at a loss how we fix this bros.

Rory Stewart is a massive faggot who tried to ignore the brexit referendum results because he is a massive EU cuck and left the conservative party over it
Media tries to push him hard on conservative voters because he's essential a lib dem wearing blue
He's also responsible for whatever the fuck this is
That guy just keeps failing upwards. like a true nepo baby After the invasion of Iraq the foreign office started playing at having colonial area administrators, he got appointed to a role in Nasiriyah which ended in aresulted in shit ton of dead Iraqies, as he tried to organise 'elections' even though he knew he had a few hundered troops to police a population of nearly half a million.

He failed at being an MP, he failed at being enviromental minister (flood defenses are working the water is just coming over them) just from his own book it's obvious his civil servants despised him. Incidentally he blames Liz Truss for his failure there. Then he was appointed prisons minister, which was also a failure and I think that was what caused him to jump ship rather than be caught up in the various scandals that are starting to come out now. He tried to be mayor of London again failed. Now he's on a podcast with Alistair campbell and lecturing US Ivy league students on politics.
I've heard the same, although I've been a bit disappointed, lots of people saying they're going to post lots of defamatory things about him on Twatter, but nothing as of yet. I don't think defamation applied if the person being implicated is dead, although I'm not an expert on Scottish Law or if libel/defamation/slander works differently up there.

It will be interesting what comes out though. Just a pity that, like Saville, he mnaged to escape justice while alive, if there's any weight or merit to the accusations.
It's all civil sevants, all the allegations came about after Sturgeon was making her push to oust him. The Scottish civil service is just a wing of the SNP. Even now nobody is going to put their name to an allegation.

On another note I think the public may be starting to realise the Keir Starmer is maybe just not that smart. His uncle served in the Falklands war on board HMS Antelope which was sunk by Argentinian aircraft. Which was handy for Keir because it allowed him to get all righteous when asked about the Falkand, and claim it was personal to him.

He gave so much of a shit about his uncles service that he claimed the ship was Torpedoed and couldn't remember the name of the ship. He's just a details orientated guy.

You know what...I'm starting to think that black hole in the finances doesn't actually exist...

Maybe so, maybe not. But quoting The Express is never a good thing. Quite genuinely the worst paper in the UK. If you wipe your arse with The Express, it gets more coherent.

In the subject of Kosovo didn’t paddy ashdown do a better job there than in the house as well?
Paddy Ashdown was an actual soldier. He was always far more relatable and in-touch. I recall the BBC doing a big hoo-ha about their series of interviews with party leaders before the UK general election and how none of them would see the other's interviews beforehand, all questions pre-determined, blah blah. Anyway, one of the questions was "have you ever taken illegal drugs?"

Tony Blair: <Long prevaricating answer that gives you the impression he would never, ever and talks about the evils of drugs, without ever actually saying he hasn't>
John Major: "No" (and you believe him!)
Paddy Ashdown: <laughter> "You can't possibly expect me to answer that on television."

Countdown winner accused of stabbing fellow champion

A Countdown champion has appeared in court accused of stabbing a fellow former winner at a quiz-themed event.
John Cowen, 30, appeared at Preston Crown Court, accused of wounding with intent and two counts of possession of a bladed article.
Mr Cowen, who appeared on the TV quiz show in 2017, allegedly attacked Thomas Carey with a knife at the Countdown in Blackpool 2024 event at the Wainwright Club in the town on 14 September.
Mr Carey, a Cambridge maths graduate who also won the show, was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his arm.
Mr Cowen was arrested at the event shortly after.
The defendant, from Morecambe, Lancashire, spoke only to confirm his identity at the brief hearing before Judge Darren Preston.
He was remanded into custody at HMP Liverpool until a further hearing on 6 December.
The Countdown in Blackpool event is an annual tournament which pits former winners and fans of the Channel 4 gameshow against each other.
Mr Cowen scored the third highest total of the whole series he was a contestant on, as well as spotting the nine-letter word "spreading".
He went on to appear in a further 11 episodes, winning eight consecutive contests before he was finally defeated.

I see what you did there! -.-

Northern England: "Why can't you just be normal?"
Preston: <...>

Also, the stabber in question:

Preston Crown Court is weird as a lot of gangsters from Liverpool and Manchester get trials there to avoid jury intimidation locally. So what’s happened is some of those gangsters have moved some of there operations there as they spend so much time in the court, leading to Preston being this strange backward town with a problem with serious heavy duty organised crime now because the police and courts don’t seem so remember motorways exist.

That's very interesting. Though just to be clear, you've moved outside the context of Countdown, yes? Or else it's become more serious business than I knew!

Anger at UK’s ‘bonkers’ plan to reach net zero by importing fuel from North Korea

Net Zero means cutting down trees in best korea, transporting them across the pacific by boat, and then burning them in repurposed coal power stations.

Meanwhile, the UK's energy generation is bumping along just beneath max available capacity. Wind generation is running at a fraction of its nameplate capacity because of the lack of wind (due to a high pressure system sitting over Germany). The energy quango NESO issued a "blackout prevention" alert, which requires energy companies to prepare to implement load shedding plans. Energy demand this month is not outside of normal, so to see this happening is unusual to say the least, and doesn't bode well for winter, especially if we get a blocking high over scandinavia.
