A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I suppose but I think it's as likely he wanted to be out of his PM role with some of summer left to go and chance to holiday in America before the elections there.
Given how his exit out of Number 10 was like a parade procession filled with clapping after leading the party to a catastrophic defeat, he clearly couldn't give a fuck. It's the Tories fault for ramming this fucking Goldman Sachs Indian to the position and being a bunch of corrupt, incompetent fucks.

Now the UK have a bunch of corrupt, incomptent fucks who don't care and will just ram whatever through. Good job Bongs, voting for or not getting up and voting for the party of communists, nignogs and nonces.

Rishi Sunak is at fault for this as well. He called the election out of nowhere and at the worst possible time for the Conservatives. Labour's time probably would have passed if he'd not called it early.
Things were only getting worse for the Tories, though I agree that it seems Rishi jumped the gun. It's possible he wanted them to get the winter fuel allowance hot potato lobbed into their laps without warning I suppose but I think it's as likely he wanted to be out of his PM role with some of summer left to go and chance to holiday in America before the elections there.
You have the election in August and all the Conservative voters are out of the country on holiday.
You have the election in September or October and it messes up Conference season.
You have the election in November and it gets overshadowed by the Yanks.
You have the election in December and everybody blames you for ruining Christmas.

There were no good choices about when to have the election.

I don't think it was intentional, but one nice side-effect for the Tories is that they caught Labour on the hop, meaning they were ill-prepared and have already squandered any honeymoon they had.

It wasn't an election, it was a handover.
Both wef employees. Both following identical immigration policy. Both following the net zero policy to regress society.

I‘m one of the weirdos that supports assisted dying (I have a massive libertarian streak, so deserve all the retard stickers) but I can‘t help but think the government are doing this just to save money.

Labour have been pushing through stuff so evil that they accused the Tories of doing it for years, much to the confusion of Tories.

Who is it freezing OAPs and wanting to murder the disabled now? How the fuck are they getting away with this? I can’t be the only person who is MATI?
Dont vote for socialists,
They always lie, and they are always treasonous.
I’ve been getting a lot of “told you so” in during conversations with retarded friends who think “Labour good, Tories bad”. There’s a lot of growing anger and it’s breaking people’s doublethink.

I honestly think he didn’t want to be Prime Minister. The country is skint and pozzed, better for them to let Labour burn down what’s left and rebuild from the ashes. Their main issue though is they don’t have a new Thatcher capable of doing it.
For those old enough to remember, Harold Shipman killed 280 old biddies over 30 years before anyone batted an eye-lid.

Imagine a nutter like him having carte blanch on assisted dying. How many would be murdered before an investigation took place?
They’ll let Lucy Letby out of prison and let her run a ward of terminally ill babies.

I’m voting for anyone who says “fuck the WEF.” I don’t care anymore as long as they aren’t lefties.
Remember when doctors and nurses were supposed to care for their dying patients and not usher them into the suicide pod?
And they’ve all just got a massive payrise to do it.

Guys, I love this silly little but glorious country and I’m sick of watching Britannia getting raped :(

We're the same. I do support it with hefty and extensive caveats but the current situation is;

The NHS is on its arse and therefore unfit to be given an option to start moving patients off its lists by killing them
We've just had an enormous scandal with the Cass Review showing that they've not been fit to make decisions about difficult topics for years
Canada is showing off how bad it gets at the speed of light

This is the wrong time to propose this and trying to shove it via a back bencher who just happened to win a vote to let her propose it is a pathetic attempt to hide the fact that Kier is a fan of it.

I honestly think they’re going to raise inheritance tax to an insane level, like stealing anything over £50k in an estate, and hope old people freezing to death and people topping themselves generates enough money to build the houses for the illegals they want to import.

They should let her out of prison. Every month more 'evidence' is questioned as to why it was presented at trial. One example was a child who died and the death was blamed on Letby, despite her not being in the hospital when it happened and never attending to the baby.

She's such an evil killer that she was committing infanticide by proxy and telekinesis.

I did that example just for you :)

Knowing my Letby autism knows no bounds.

To avoid a double-post:

Assisted dying will turn into legal organ harvesting. "I'm sorry Mrs Smith, your 35 year-old husband who was in a car crash (with a 60% chance to survive) was MAIDED as there was nothing we could do. Sign here so we can have his perfectly functioning liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, eyes. You'll be saving lives aiding research"

I thought your Letby autism was some sort of fun contrarianism at first, I didn’t follow the case as I can’t stomach anything were kids die or get hurt (weak, I know, hit me with the stickers) but when I saw how hard the presss was pushing that this trail was completely fair and how any questioning of the process was made by monsters who wanted to torment the parents I realised the entire thing stinks.

They‘re trying to paint this like Sandyhook when no one is denying that the kids in the hospital were murdered or are going after the parents (although I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one or two boomer loons doing it on Facebook), people are upset that the wrong person was thrown to the wolves with an insanely unsafe prosecution and there seems to have been some form of coverup.

I can’t see the angle but I’m guessing consultants with press and political connections? I can’t look too much into it as I know I’ll get a Facebook retard level of rage and go down a dark rabbit hole that would be hard for me to escape from.

Well technically we are all organ donors now and need to opt out but they sneakily introduced that.

As the days pass it feels like we are living in a shitty 40k novel.
Eat your corpsestarch, soldier. The Emperor protects the NHS and double posters.

There is a saving grace there is a lot of kickback internally from this. I think you will see some animal farm level shit where employees who love to kill will be viewed as psychotic from their peers. It is just a mind fuck because I think any nurse remembers their first death very well and the idea of that being turned into a conveyor belt is just mentally fucked. I remember well when we had a car pile up and in one evening we had 6 people die over 2-3 hours. You can see that strain fraying away at people with each death. I still talk to those colleagues now and that was years back and we still vividly remember it all. Hospice care too is honestly really pleasent because you really learn to appreciate life but there are these snapshots of people saying their last goodbyes and you work very close with families and just this turns it on its head. It's ugly and turns what a sacred thing is (life) into something trivial.

Please note when you see me sperging about how much I hate the NHS and how it needs burning down absolutely none of it is aimed it you.

You sound like a great person and I wish nothing but the best for you (in a genuine way and not in a Nick way.)

Is there much support for the trauma that you guys have to put up with these days? An ex used to go through some nasty shit that she used to shrug off but I think it caught up with her and her live became an absolute mess and became an unrecognisable person but that’s almost twenty years ago.

Welcome to reform. Ginsters pasties and hobgoblin ale ore to your right.
Oh boy! I can't wait to vote for that tearaway new party that's begging and pleading to anyone that'll listen that it's completely identical to the establishment and no really we'll bus in *MORE* monkeys than that clueless shit Kier.

My take/the gist IMO is:

Letby is a social outcast who didn't fit in on the ward, probably had very poor training and is a blond-haired white girl. I don't doubt the possibility that some fuck ups, poor decision making or crap training led to kids dying. I do entirely doubt that she was a baby-killing monster and that the narrative was easier to create, with help from other, equally as incompetent nurses, that Letby was just that.
After the Staffordshire hospital malarky, wards get shut down quick-time when a couple of infants kick the bucket, regardless of reason.

Another report dropped on the BBC last week again calling for another inquiry and a retrial, stating the evidence presented was incorrect and the truth as to what happened, how and - if Letby did kill those kids, what lessons are learned to prevent it happening in the future. The trial and story surrounding letby, even if she is a murderer, has been ended so quickly that no viable lessons have been learned other than "Letby bad".

The question that should be asked, which is not and is brushed over or deflected when approached is; "Why did the managers of the ward and the managers of the staff not immediately step in after 1, 2 or 3 dead kids? Why did this persist for four years before anyone could pretend to even be arsed to care enough?"
One of the potential deaths of one of the kids could have been a serious contagious infection/MRSA and nothing was done.

The biggest "that shit ain't right" part for me is how everyone involved with the Letby story was programmed to believe she was guilty, she definitely murdered those babies and anyone questioning that was a cold-hearted, brainless, child-hating maniac. Those sorts of emotionally charged reactionary tactics, based on no evidence, were used with Sandy Hook, COVID; Masks, jabs, social distancing, the was on Iraq and Afghanistan, 9/11, The Vegas Shooting, Saville accusations and many, many more.

/austism.

Opt’d out during Covid when they started pulling the need to be vaccinated shit.

My pureblood organs weren’t good enough during the worst virus evar, they aren’t good enough now.

If they had to look too hard they’d need to dismantled our state religion, the NHS, and talking bad about it is heresy.

Some of the worst people I’ve worked with have been former NHS office staff. They’ll cry about how bad it was and all the bullying that went on but at the same time want to import dumb and outdated systems whilst playing dumb political games, only to stab everyone who fell for their bullshit in the back and leave.
