A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I honestly believe that the ~65% rate of inbreeding among Pakistanis is the root cause of the terrorism and pro-Gaza marches and general ragheadery in this country. I don't know if there's any studies done (lol), but their IQ must be through the floor.

At the very least we need to outlaw cousin marriages, and make it so we refuse to recognize cousin marriages performed abroad. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Christ alone in terms of nursing it requires an additional 100,000 of disabled care nurses which is the worst field because pay and prospects additionally they have to be community based to provide homecare.
That’s what is so frustrating. Handling normal disabled people is hard enough and carers struggle with even that. And then they decide to like 100x the issue and make it worse. And then they bloody complain they have no money or that we need to take it away from the people. When the solution to the money issues and difficulties is not to bloody tolerate inbred fucks that do not give a f about the country or intergrating. The problem would vanish overnight.

Then we would like get less carers that can’t understand basic instructions to boot. Because their inbred family wouldn’t be over here.

It would fix the majority of the problems and magically give the goverment back money they say they desperately need.

Mum and chef die after carnival weekend attacks

Cher Maximen, who was with her three-year-old daughter when she was stabbed on Sunday, died in hospital on Saturday morning, it was confirmed.
Mussie Imnetu, who worked as a chef and had been visiting London from Dubai, was found unconscious on Monday evening near Notting Hill, also died from his injuries on Friday, police said.
Metropolitan Police Commander Charmain Brenyah said the deaths had been "devastating for both families" and they were both now being treated by the force as murder investigations.

Shakiel Thibou, 20, of Hammersmith, was charged with the attempted murder of Ms Maximen and he appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
In relation to Mr Imnetu, earlier this week Omar Wilson, 31, of Leytonstone, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He appeared at the same court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 27 September.
So much for murder investigations and speedy justice. 26 days before they appear in court.

Home secretary Yvette Cooper called the deaths of Ms Maximen and Mr Imnetu "deeply distressing". "This terrible and appalling violence has no place on our streets."

Notting Hill Carnival's organisers said it was "shocked by these tragic deaths".
Tragic death? lol, lmao even.

OK so I love it when they place cops outside murder homes, you dumb fucks the person is dead... Lots of Birmingham crime lately too, wonder what it can be, we gotta bring out the conspiracy board.
I'm assuming it's so those nonspecific youths don't immediately redistribute the victim's property to themselves and their local pawn shops.

Starkey's going off on one (for him, at least). The thesis is that Kier's/Labour's long-term aim is the absolute destruction of the English state and constitution, the destruction of English identity in toto, and the establishment of a federalised replacement with a new "British" identity. Nothing A&N hasn't heard or said before, but it's interesting to see different commentators coming to these conclusions.

Starkey has always been a very vocal critic, especially after his cancellation, but you can hear him being careful with his words knowing there’s a good portion of the government wanting him in prison.

Douglas Murray has went full gloves off “come at me, bro.”

Based gays being based.

I re read his very short book on Magna Carta over the holidays. He makes a very good point that the spirit of the freedom the charter represents lives on far more on American law than British. I like him and I’m sorry he got cancelled. He is right. Just to add as well that the previously convicted pedophile who blew a load of stuff up in London the other day has his trial date set for August 04 2025. Priorities eh, kier?
We could do with another magna carta / charter of the forest moment couldn’t we? Drag starmer to some hellish seaside town wrecked by migrant hotels and force him to sign it. With a bit of luck he’d die of dysentery on the way back and his entire baggage train and entourage would be lost in quicksands.

In fairness, he’s been saying this was the aim of the Left for a very long time.
Ed Dutton had a decent documentary (with a cameo from Carlgon) going through New Labour's ideological origins and forebears, and basically accused them of the same thing. Wouldn't be surprised if this was partly inspired by Starkey

Also his substack is one of the few worth paying for, albeit sometimes slightly repetitive and would be a lot better if he included references to his source material somewhere

I think one of the most important things he touches on is how radical the change was, and how quickly the establishment managed to bury the past. We may joke about all those "diversity built Britain" posters, but most people born from the mid-90's onwards will have absolutely no recollection of a country that was >90% native-born, with a competent healthcare system and unregulated handgun ownership, even though that's how it was less than three decades ago

It's terrifying how effective they were at making 1997 "year zero" of the New Britain, and how the old world only really remains in the memory of those who came before it

Anyone else feel a little 'calm before the storm' in regards to a big event, possibly global?
Same, there are so many conflicts and machinations happening. Which are making me nervous. The one factor for me is financial collapse but the problem with financial its a response to something too e.g. war. Reeves definitely does not help this because her policies will make wealthy people leaving.

See, that’s the interesting thing and a key failining of a lot of people against what is currently happening.

They have almost zero concept of how quickly things to change in the grand scheme of things. It takes a few years at the most and is almost impossible to undo.

They think they have time they don’t have.

And in the imposdible event all this is reversed it just takes someone else getting back in to mess this all up again.

And Labour now has 5-10 years to f things up.

War succeeds financial collapse, always.

I'll do a full sperg out in the conspiracy thread when I have time, but the next financial collapse will be cataclysmic to society.
Basically, sars 1 (2005 iirc~) was laughed off by the papers, the media and entertainers.
Sars 2 ( covid 2019) was the end of the world according to the same papers, the media and entertainers.

The next big financial crash will make 2008 look like sars 1.

What war will follow that will not be good. The wall street crashes and depression in America were contributing factors to the length and devastation of both WW1 and WW2. Hopefully the next crash will take out America with no survivors before they get nukey again.

It all boils down to who becomes President of the US, for better or worse.

Both outcomes of the elections also mean huge changes one way or the other, I do believe Trump when he says that there will be wars if Kamala wins, the neocons who control the DNC can't get enough of it. If they got Biden to tell Zelensky to reject peace agreements with Russia, they can make Kamala do pretty much anything they want.

Interesting times ahead, that's for sure.

What I find really petrifying in all of this is that, whilst Trump may well hold war back for another 4 years, there's little-to-no guarantee that the same powers won't go ahead a few years later when he's gone. JD Vance isn't going to meaningfully push back against war with Lebanon/Iran/Syria

Big companies in the US need to kill millions of people across the planet in order to make money, so we just have to learn to accept the inevitable. Maybe start a death cult or something so it feels that little bit less pointless
