A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Before I am crucified, let me please lay out some statistics.

Leicester Square is in Westminster, which has the second highest violent crime rate out of London's boroughs. According to crimerate.co.uk, in the moving 12 month window of April 2023 to April 2024, there were 12,723 "Violent or Sexual Offences" reported in Westminster, which has a daytime reported population of 211,365, giving it a violent crime victimization rate of 1 in 16.6 people. Compare this to Compton, LA, CA, USA, with a violent crime victimization rate of 1 in 88. Now, this does include "sexual offenses," which is rather vague, and I'm not sure of the differences in reporting between US and UK authorities, but regardless, holy shit, that's a lot of fucking crime. Moreover, according to the 2021 census, the daytime population of Westminster is 55.1% white (Note: this includes Ir*sh).

My point is, I do not believe this was planned at all. I think the odds of something like this happening on any given day is pretty high, and the timing just happens to be serendipitous for the government narrative. What I do think, however, is that due to the nature of the event and the serendipitous timing, the media is taking an event that would otherwise be back page police blotter and turning it into a front page national story.

I am open to having my mind changed, and open to constructive feedback. Obviously I am not a British citizen, and welcome helpful input from any UK Kiwis.

What is Charles even doing? Take back your fucking country.
Summoning demons through blood sacrifice with the blood of the deceased children from the previous stabbings to live a little longer while dealing with his cancer as he cackles from atop the highest tower in Windsor castle as the country is collapsing.

Jokes aside, probably just slowly dying in a pitiful and decrepit manner having done absolutely nothing for the country.

London is such a fucking god-forgotten shithole I only went there once years ago and had seen enough to avoid it like the plague forever, filled with jeets and joggers constantly pestering you to buy their souvenirs while an accomplice is trying to pickpocket you.

A second 'Great Fire of London' is long overdue to scorch away all the shitstains that have come to be stuck in there.

He's royalty. He's doing nothing and sucking up tax dollars.

I want to be clear, royalty claims Divine Right. This is still true of the UK monarchy, even though they never mention it and get very touchy when it is brought up. By transitive property, Charles literally believes he was given the authority to vacuum up taxes by God Himself.

I would not rely on the monarch.

It does seem fishy that someone who was so up close to his victim would come out not splattered with blood

Particularly having them in a headlock...this stinks.

This glows.

"Shall we let this guy change his clothes first, before we photograph him for the article?"
"Nah, let's just take the picture now, while he's still covered in the blood of a little girl. That won't be an upsetting sight for our readers."

I mean, come on, guys, I don't believe Abdullah's story either, but it's not completely outside the realm of possibility that people can change their clothes, rather than just continuing to go about their day covered in gore.

I’m aware that there is a constant hankering after unbiased news on threads like this. Unfortunately they are almost impossible to find. You just have to listen to an array of different people with their differing points of view. Some are not so different. Some are ludicrous and some require patience and thought.

I know David Starkey is one of those long winded, pompous know-it-alls, but I found a pretty interesting interesting interview with him recently. He’s essentially been ‘cancelled’ for racism….so that’s a good sign. I warn you, it’s long….but he is on my side, I feel. He wants the old style high trust society back, and has a few fun things to say. His attack on Kier is brutal. And even though, he of course despises Blaire, gives credit where it’s due…..what can I say? It’s interesting to listen to a clever historian who knows what he’s talking about…and therefore has been cancelled by the woke.

I suggest at least 1.5 speed in the background and I think he’s said everything useful by the time the interview is 3/4 done…….

Carry on if he’s not your cup of tea, but I think he has an interesting viewpoint on mass migration and what we need to be doing about it. He’s also unbiased and gives credit where it’s due.

?????????????????????????
We're talking about the stabber not the random immigrant

I wasn't referring to Abdullah in his crisp white shirt, I was referring to the attacker, who in the arrest video and photo is miraculously sans blood despite stabbing two people.

I know this will have been said before but how many british born people just go around stabbing people?? We had a case a few months ago where a woman was murdered in an honor killing. Always a brown person. This kind of senseless murder is almost always the work of some sick pajeet who seethes at the idea of women having rights, unlike in his shithole country where he has the right to molest any girl with her father's position.

White murderers tend to have a financial motive, like robbery ect.

I found the same website to show Westminster as the 3rd safest place in England and Wales for violent and sexual offences in 2024.
Figures had increased 7% on 2023, which wouldn't take it from the second highest violent crime borough in London to the 3rd safest in the country in a year.
Those figures you found seem insanely high to me, even though London is a hole Westminster is less of a hole.

I bet with my spouse that he was Albanian and I think I am correct like @teriyakiburns said the area is near an Albanian hot bed. Now Albanians in terms of Europe are absolute shit tier, at least Romanians work and create fatalities through driving like monkeys. Think if you will like European Syrians absolutely useless and if they got genocided no one would give a shit.

I had the unfortunate opportunity of having to stay overnight in Westminster and it is unbelievably shit except for a lovely white owned coffee house near the MacDonalds in Paddington. That aside its a hole and full of beggars, the only place I felt safe in was Paddington Station and that's a stretch. It's crazy that I find Birmingham safer and that place sucks.

Birmingham is fucking weird. You have a city centre at night with some absolutely fantastic old school pubs, which is white guys, a couple of black guys who act like regular humans, and some Hindus. Then you get to a certain part and it’s just groups of black teenagers standing around like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Fuck knows where Muslims go.

I might go back for a few days as there was one old school pub I loved there.

I can see how that's appropriate given what most feel about the state of London right now. What about King Richard the Lionhearted? Also appropriate or nay?
He spent six months in England, didn’t speak the language, then buggered off to the Middle East.

Maybe these “new Londoners” should follow his example?
