A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I went to church today. I don't do it very often (personal disagreement with the whole concept), but I was asked by family for a special occasion. The pastor (American; it's a nazarene church and they like to import yank preachers) opened up with a big old rant about how terrible everything is, uncritically repeating all the acceptable talking points, which everyone quietly nodded along with, and finished up by saying he would be delivering a letter to a local imam to say that the church stood with him, which I'm pretty sure is against some commandment or law of god somewhere. These soft-hearted idiots are going to be the death of us.

The Tories had over a decade to do something about it and they didn't.

Because they all wanted the same thing, just for superficially different reasons. Labour wants endless immigration to pay for our "sins", destroy "whiteness", and supply a permanent voting class. The tories want endless immigration to suppress wages, crush worker rights, and supply a deracinated servant class. The liberal democrats want windmills, unicorn farts, and whatever labour and the tories want, but nicer.

Just as the thought occurs to me... In a country that has 5.76 million Asian people living in it, when was the last time you saw an Asian builder? Or an Asian tradesman, in general? That's not a thing. All the builders and tradesmen I have ever seen in this country have been white working class Englishmen or (admittedly, this is going back a few years now, to before Brexit) Eastern Europeans (who would, all things considered, usually do the job way better and cheaper).

Think about the sort of jobs you primarily see Muslims in. Uber Eats, taxi drivers, convenience stores, call centres, fruit picking - shitty, low skill, low paid jobs that, let's be frank, any cunt could do. Whether they'd do it by choice is another matter, but it's not like there's a wealth of high-skill workers coming in from Asia and the Middle East.

One of the things that turned me off about going to Church here is one of the pastors who was covering for the regular one asked us to pray for the "downfall of Putin's evil regime". There was one time where at the end of the service, some woman came up to the stand and held everyone back for like 5 minutes so she could advertise her business. It's also not held at the church regularly anymore since it rotates between 3 places. There's one that was within walking distance, but it closed down. I never attended it since on their Facebook page, they celebrated stuff like "racial justice week". I miss the one in the village that I used to live in. I got along with the pastor and even during Pride month there was never any woke stuff inserted into the sermons. There was one pastor who'd very rarely cover for her who was pretty bad at doing the service (he'd often just stop singing during the hymns, leading people to an awkward silence and his sermons were just weird. One of them was about how we don't know who all of Jesus' disciples were and we could interpret that some of the people he'd spoken to previous, like the guy who couldn't give up his riches, had a change of heart and chose to follow him), but other than that it was a great church.

You do in London, but mostly east london & around where large asian communities are. I also know people who've had major problems with them and have had people argue they can't fire problem workers because they're family to the rest of the crew.

That's the thing, though, isn't it? I was trying to think of when I've seen these people in roles other than entry level, skivvy shit like Uber Eats, call centres or taxi driving, and if they ever do have what I'd call 'a real job' it's entirely because they all work for eachother, in their uncle's mate's business or whatever.

They are beginning to infiltrate the City. DEI hires are becoming increasingly popular in some companies. My line of work requires a minimum of a good degree from a top university for an entry level position. HR and senior management churn out the "diversity is our strength" mantra time and time again ( I always picture that phrase like the bleating of the sheep in Animal Farm "four legs good" ).
Trouble is most of the hires do have diversity of thought ( or at least behaviour ), which makes them incompatible with the pre-existing workforce, who are made to suffer them otherwise one isn't allowing them to "be their authentic selves in the workplace".
Needless to say as with any minority there are all sorts of special set asides and it is virtually impossible for them to get fired or made redundant ( those all important representation percentages need to be maintained - gone are the days when the cleaners, security and admin staff could be used to make up the numbers ).
All in line with the Labour principle of equality of outcome ( how is that achieved - only through a totalitarian state, funny that given what's been going on recently ). That used to be one of the good things about my work, the exclusivity, it generated like minded people with a common goal. I'd give it about a decade at the current rate of progress before infiltration is complete and we all have to abide by prayer time, for fear of offending anyone. All aspects of daily life are being eroded by this "new puritanism" - truly equality of outcome is the race to the bottom.

Plenty of them coming in on care visas not to work in hospitals but to do community care jobs:

The 15 minute visits with lonely old people who's kids are dead and have no one else to get them out of bed, sort their meds, get them food and drink for the day, make sure they don't have pressure sores. Now the only people they see are a troop of people who barely speak English.

I know a disabled young woman who has now been deemed to need 2 people to support her at once, she's not difficult: they sent her out on a trip with one of these 'carers' who rightly got bitten for serious neglect, she now has 2 who just speak french to each other, the woman has no idea what the fuck is going on so kicks off. She is becoming more and more institutionised (and so costing an absolute fortune to care for long term, she's heading towards being locked up in a very restrictive environment).

There's people with learning disabilities and language disorders being cared for by people who barely speak English: neither side understand each other, helping them communicate at places like the doctors or dealing with finances when the 'carer' both cannot read the letter and has no understanding of how anything works here.

All these people despise the people they work with, many are abusive as they have minimal training and the training they have was not understood (a lot fiddled the English tests to get their visas). They had no idea what job they even signed up for because they come from countries where they don't have a care system.

There's plenty of YouTube channels by these social care work immigrants complaining about how bad things are for them, shitting on the people they 'help' and sharing tips about how to fuck over the system.
