A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Only stuff I found on it were some neighbours saying they were Christians. Since there was no mention that they saw one another at church I'm assuming it came up in conversation with a neighbour who wasn't Christian.

However that is the extent of confirmation.
 
I don't know if any one is inclined to take the risk but a flier yanks could post on social media would be helpful. Show where he's really from, his trips to his homeland, his karate and school history. They've massively tried to bury the faggot and it would be a real issue if the truth went vital for them. None of the school kid lightbulb cover up shit.

Angela Rayner has dropped Tory plans to limit applications for social housing to long-term British residents.
The Housing Secretary has formally scrapped reforms that would have prevented recently arrived migrants from applying for a council house in England.
It comes with almost 1.3 million households on local authority waiting lists for social housing.
Ms Rayner has vowed to ramp up the provision of new social homes as part of wider planning reforms to boost housebuilding.
Official government figures show that in 2022-23, the number of new social lets agreed where the “lead tenant” was a foreign national was 26,176.
Under current rules people from abroad need to have an immigration status “with recourse to public funds”, such as being eligible for access to benefits, in order to qualify for a social home.
This can include refugees who have had their asylum applications approved as well as migrants who have been granted indefinite leave to remain.

Michael Gove, the former housing secretary, published proposals in January that would have prevented many of those from qualifying in future.
He planned to introduce a “UK connection test” which would have restricted social housing to those who had been resident for at least 10 years.
British and Irish citizens, Commonwealth citizens with a right of abode, and European citizens who were resident before Brexit would have remained eligible.
The test would have been applied to those people on the waiting list, affecting many foreign nationals already in the queue for a social home.
Matthew Pennycook, the housing minister who reports to Ms Rayner, announced last week that Labour would not be going forward with the proposals.
“The Government does not intend to enact the policy proposals set out in the consultation,” he said in response to a written question from Kemi Badenoch.

Official statistics show that 251,866 social homes were made available in 2022-23, of which one in 10 went to a non-UK national.
Of those, 9,824 went to people from the European Economic Area – the EU plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland – and 16,352 to people from the rest of the world.
The share of social homes granted to foreign nationals has almost doubled over the past 15 years from 5.8 per cent in 2009-10 to 10.4 per cent in 2022-23.
Government figures only show who the “lead tenant” is, meaning that British citizens may be living in some of those homes.
Many migrants do not qualify for social housing, including small boat arrivals who have not yet had their asylum applications processed.
Economic migrants on work visas and foreign students do not have recourse to public funds and are therefore not eligible either.
But the Government is set to fast-track the asylum applications of 90,000 illegal migrants who had been earmarked for deportation to Rwanda.
It is expected that two-thirds of them will be granted the right to remain, meaning that they could then qualify to apply for social housing.
Many would struggle to quickly get a social home though because nine in 10 councils require applicants to have lived in their local area for some time.

Dr Mike Jones, executive director of Migration Watch UK, said around one in five council homes is now occupied by a foreign national lead tenant, including nearly half in London.
“Labour has no plans to cap legal migration or change the Human Rights Act to allow deportations of illegal entrants,” he said.
“They’ve also dropped the ‘British homes for British workers’ policy, which would have given priority to people born in the UK.”
“This hits hard at public trust in our institutions and the fairness of the welfare system.
“Labour isn’t putting the ‘national interest’ first – they’re putting non-citizens ahead of British people.”
Government sources suggested that under the Tory reforms most European citizens would have remained eligible for social housing.
Those who arrived before June 30 2021 were able to apply for “settled status” giving them equal treatment rights to UK citizens under the Brexit withdrawal deal.
A spokesman for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities said: “The vast majority of councils have already adopted local connection tests and 90 per cent of social homes go to UK nationals.
“Those who do not have a right to stay in the UK are already not eligible for social housing.”
A Tory spokesman said: “It just goes to show that Labour will always put cosying up to the EU ahead of protecting British values like common decency and fairness.”

Hopefully more information will be released soon, but that relies on journalists actually making an effort rather than jumping on the easy 'Far-right bigots rampage through streets' angle.
 
What the hell?
A son killed his father in a hammer attack and shouted “he’s a f------ German” after finding out about his family’s ancestry, a court heard.
Colin Neil, 52, was suffering from psychosis caused by undiagnosed epilepsy at the time of the fatal attack on 82-year-old John Neil.
Monica Neil, his 79-year-old mother, tried to fight her son off as he repeatedly hit her husband on the head with a claw hammer at their home in Timperley, Greater Manchester, last summer.

Neil “adored” his father and would never have intentionally hurt him, he later told police.
He was found not guilty on grounds of insanity, and will remain in Ashworth hospital, the highly secure psychiatric hospital in Merseyside, for further treatment.
Manchester Crown Court heard that before the killing in July last year, Neil’s younger brother had researched their family tree, and found information that suggested their father may have had German ancestors.
Neil, who spent time reading books on German and Russian wars, said “he’s a f------ German, he’s killed people” as he launched his onslaught.
His mother shouted at him and pleaded with him to stop, reminding him he was attacking his father. Neil replied: “No he’s not.”

Jurors were told it was a case of the “utmost tragedy”, and that Neil had previously tried to get help but his condition had only been diagnosed after the killing.
Prosecutors said they were not seeking a murder conviction. Instead jurors were told they had to consider whether Neil was guilty of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility, or not guilty of all charges by reason of insanity. On Friday he was found not guilty on the grounds of insanity.
Jurors were told that Neil had previously run his own IT recruitment business, but he “lost” the firm in 2008 and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety.
He continued to suffer from issues in the intervening years, and moved back to the family home with his parents prior to the Covid lockdown in March 2020.

He was sectioned in 2020 and 2021, and attended A&E twice last year. Around that time, Neil’s mother noticed he was spending more time reading books about war, in particular German and Russian wars.
By last summer, Neil’s younger brother had researched their family tree and discovered information which suggested their father had German ancestors, said Rob Hall, prosecuting.
“It seems that stuck in Colin Neil’s mind,” Mr Hall said. “Despite all of the above though, Monica Neil never saw an angry word pass between Colin Neil and John Neil.”
On the day of the killing, on July 9 last year, without warning, Neil ran into the living room with a “manic grin”, looking “completely vacant”, the prosecutor said.
He began to repeatedly hit his father over the head with a hammer without saying anything, Mr Hall said.

Mrs Neil shouted at her son to stop, telling him: “It’s your father you’re hitting. Stop it! You’re killing him, Colin!”
Neil replied: “No, he’s not! He’s a f------ German. He’s killed people.” He then told his father: “That’s what you deserve.”
Mr Hall said Neil hit his father at least five times. His mother was able to push her son away, before he walked outside and dropped the hammer. He then walked into his next-door neighbour’s home and “confessed”, the jury was told.
The police arrived minutes later, and Neil was arrested. His father was pronounced dead just after 5pm. Neil’s behaviour at the police station concerned officers, and he was declared unfit to be interviewed.
About two months later, he was deemed fit to be questioned and told officers that his father was his “best friend”, and that he would “never intentionally hurt” him. He said he had no memory of what happened that day.
Nina Graheme KC, Neil’s barrister, described it as a case of the “utmost tragedy”.
She told jurors: “At the time of this awful incident, because of his undiagnosed epilepsy, Colin Neil didn’t know what he was doing, or if he did he didn’t know that it was wrong to do it.”
Judge Suzanne Goddard KC said Neil would be supervised “for a very long time to come”.

Someone went through all the judges sentencing the rioters and news articles on them. Turns out every single one of them has let a pedo walk for bullshit reasons. "He didn't look at the CP in the last 5 years so it's okay", "You need to get some fresh air" and even letting a guy get his niece drunk and rape her got off scot-free.

These people are fucking scum. The worst of the worst and it's rage fuel to see a woman get 3 years for swearing at the coppers while you can literally rape your own family members and get less punishment. With this line up you could probably get off of your riot charges by loading your phone up with CP and showing the judge what a "good person" you are since apparently that's a thing to let you off for.. You might have 10,000 images of animals and babies being raped but you're a good person at heart so drop all the charges.

They also seem to think that everything is Capitalism's fault. I thought Leftist Philosophy would've transcended that meme by now.

I've always tried to avoid wishing death on people merely for disagreeing with me and even on those who deserve it. My reasoning for it is that we're both human, they may feel the same way to me as I do to them and by getting frustrated and enraged by them and wanting them dead, I am giving them power over me and wasting my time. I think that it also has a negative effect on you overall if you let yourself start wishing death on people. Recent events are really testing that ideal.

At the moment Keir the Schemer is in the mirror really fancying himself to be Cromwell II. The dumb fuck will be crawling in months and the reason why is all public services are at the point of collapse.

  • Police morale is at an "all time low" and pensions are being threatened if they leave but a lot of the crime solvers are either gone or go into other fields like cyber and tech or security. There are so many women in the force currently too that this poses a problem in actual combat since someone can overpower them. Crime prevention and solved crimes are also at 0% in multiple forces, I think Kier is going to defund them further similar to Theresa May.
  • Military recruitment is also in the gutter with spending cuts probably coming
  • Local councils are going bankrupt and have to hobble a lot of their finance and social worker roles such as care home placement etc. There are more than 10 county councils expected to go bankrupt.
  • NHS - Jesus Christ, so staffing is being cut for nurses first off, great. We need 50,000 nurses and a lot of the ones currently have a 8/1 ratio, I am personally usually on a 10/1 or 12/1 work is HARD. I will say Birmingham do try their hardest to try and maintain suitable numbers but they can only do so much. The Indian students all ended up leaving because it was too hard for them, except the Sikhs. We have no Filipinos come in as they are going to Australia and the 2nd generation ones are lazy. There is a jnr and senior Doctor shortage, newly qualified nurses are having to go into jobs of HCAs ffs. That is the tip of the iceberg too as teachers in the worse unis are prepped to leave.
  • The DWP is on brink of collapse, they need more than 10% of new staff but its probably worse.
Where are these foreign workers though because I am not seeing them and the ones in the NHS are beyond shit. I do not believe the current stats for unemployment as it says there are 30% of Pakis etc who are unemployed but its probably much higher. Guess what too Kier none of the legal migrants are coming here for work visas either because the cost of living.

He will come begging to whitey soon and of course the "100 protests" was a psy op.
