A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I wonder if it’s the grandfather. Or if alphonse is much older than we thought. It’s hard to tell tbh. The companies house entry gives dob as 1975 but apparently it’s common to just give a vague one and it’s not checked. I tried looking in the vast records the Mormons have but when I tried his name I got blocked saying full data not available. I think they give you one search the you have to register an account
If he lives as a Uk citizen (alphonse) he should have a birth certificate and these can be ordered for a small fee.
The genocide was in 1994, so he’d be 18-19 if he was Anaclet. That’s young for someone given command. I think it’s worth looking at him and whoever his father is though

The interhamwe, afaik, started as the youth wing of the MRND. It wasn't unusual at all for relatively young men to be in positions of power.

I'll try and find it, but Dallaire wrote an article in the aftermath about realising that the detection of the use of child/teen soldiers should serve as part of an early warning system on impending genocide. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

It's perfectly possible that he was involved in some capacity. As I mentioned earlier, pretty much every Hutu was complicit in some capacity. But whether or not he's related to Anaclet is still up in the air as there's nothing proving or disproving it. It also remains unconfirmed whether Alphonse and his wife are Hutu or Tutsi.

There is one true fact however: Rudakubana is a really rare surname. According to Forebears (quickest source I could get), approximately 3,119 people [in public records] bear the surname. A relation is perfectly possible.

Anaclet was the equivalent of the governer of a prefecture, which seems still the kind of role you’d give someone older, although I guess all bets were off at that point and we have no indication that 1975 date is in fact correct at all. Keep digging. There will be records, possibly in French

People are rightly disgusted by what happened, but it's also a great excuse to smash things and burn the businesses and property of people not even connected with these events. Brits love a good riot.
 
Any one approving of any non-whites in the land has little girls blood on their hands. This sick fuck was living in a village and 'born here'. And this is what you support, this is what you encourage. You argue that any one but immediate arrivals will magically share the same culture as the area they live in. And they don't, they bring African and Arab culture here and that means taking knives, acid, clubs and rape to little girls. It's in their blood and it's in their culture and any tolerance is going to lead to more dead children until whites finally learn and deport all of them immediately.

A new national violent disorder unit is to be set up to clamp down on rioters, the Guardian has learned, after far-right riots this week.

Keir Starmer made the official announcement on Thursday, having agreed it with police chiefs at a crisis meeting.


Speaking during a press conference held after the meeting with senior police chiefs, Sir Keir thanked police officers who “stood up to intimidation and violence”.

He said the meeting was held to “pull together our response, response both to the immediate challenge which is clearly driven by far-right hatred, but also all violent disorder that flares up whatever the apparent cause or motivation”.

The unit will aim to boost intelligence gathering and sharing on looming trouble and comes after police were surprised by the scale of disorder on Tuesday in Southport, with further disorder in London and Hartlepool on Wednesday.

The unit is intended to improve the gathering and sharing of intelligence on known “extremist troublemakers” from all parts of the ideological spectrum. It is also hoped to enhance sharing of community tension indicators and the coordination of mutual aid, where specially riot trained officers are rushed from one area to another.

It is hoped that by boosting the number of specialist public order officers who can be rushed into an area of trouble, the number of arrests when violence breaks out can be increased.

The unit will sit with the national police operations centre, which is part of the National Police Chiefs’ Council.

The plans were drafted by Downing Street, and a source said police chiefs meeting Starmer in No 10 on Thursday were in broad agreement.

Remember what I said about crossbows. I am 100% sincere when I say: prepare while you still fucking can, or get the hell out of the UK if you want to rid yourself of this situation entirely.

EDIT: Martial not Marital. Although at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Keir and the Police were a married couple because they're clearly sharing the same bed.

Thank goodness. I'm glad some politicians can see the ridiculousness in these alt-right protesters not wanting their children violently stabbed to death. Now we can take them off the streets are replace them with environmentalist blocking traffic and random rioters attacking citizens over a sports loss while redirecting the police to protect them instead, just as nature intended.
 
You will never convince me that the UK isn't a testing ground for a grand-scheme human psyop. Never, ever. Everyone within those limits is a guinea pig. It stopped being a country after WW2.
