A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

It's just so fucking sad, makes me close to tears and I'm not exaggerating when I say that. I want to weep for my country and our children when I can see shit like this unfolding. Where's the immediate response to the illegals chopping each other up in the streets DAILY, white kids becoming embroiled in this fucking savage culture and behaving like apes or the muslim and gyppo rioting from last week? Why is it only when "the white right" get pissed off that they must immediately be put down with actions like that? It's hard not to "conspiracy" sperg. Scary fucking times.

Reading the daily mail it's looks like maybe the middle class have finally started having enough.

Note for members outside of the uk: Typically the working class have read the sun or the daily star, mainly cause we used to get a nice pair of tits to perv at on page 3. Where as the daily mail always tended to be the read by more conservative middle class who don't like the niggers and pakis any more than the working class but normally refrain from expressing those views to loudly.

Anyway back to what we all came for..

Daily mail is also working class. It's the Jeremy Kyle show of news papers and most the stories are celeb gossip.

These are exciting times, that's for sure. It looks like the veil's been lifted at long last and people are seeing the horrific damage that's been inflicted. Well, people have been seeing it for a long time now but the consensus about shutting up and taking it quietly seems to be at the end of it's tether. It's clear the powers that be are quite rattled and the Emperor is indeed naked, or a massive anti-native cunt who is looking more and more like the enemy every day. Hoping we're at the acceleraion stage and it all starts kicking off while natives are still somewhat in the majority.

Hopefully things change but I fear it's a week of rioting until it settles back into taking it up the arse. If things are going to change there would need to be multiple riots in multiple places every night for a month until labour finally admits it can't control shit and bows down to the demands of the natives. BLM had the playbook and natives need to use it but push it to the very extreme.

What is even possible though? Short of genocide or deportation at gun point how do you solve this many people being here? I can see labour stopping the little boats as an attempt to appease people (and it would for some) but it's not stopping the bleeding.
 
I don't see any answer to the problems of this country that doesn't involve violence at this point, either soon or sometime down the line in the future.

That. Both of those are possible. People have been deported en masse before, creating a real hostile environment, and a real pathway for them to leave is the only way out of this. Literally any other goal is pointless. These people cannot stay here, or we cannot stay here. They have some other place to be; and we don't. So it's actually very simple.

In my too many years I have not seen a single copy on a building site no matter where in the country that site was.

Turns out the stabber isn’t an illegal immigrant, nor the child of one, and isn’t even Muslim.
