A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I tried Luton. I’m sure most have heard of it, but here’s a breakdown of race and religion.
IMG_7850.jpeg

With that in mind…
They put up a pride flag in the town centre. I bet that’s gone over well with the locals!

Most recent is about a festival, seems they’re not happy that all Luton is known for is the airport.

And then we have this gem,
Man appears in court over chemicals found in shed . This article seems to downplay it as the local police include the fact that counter terrorism police were heavily involved.
❗ UPDATE ❗ Man arrested by counter terrorism officers in Bedfordshire remains in police custody

A man from Bedfordshire who was arrested on suspicion of a terrorism offence as part of an investigation being led by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command remains in police custody.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 14 May on suspicion of possession of articles for terrorist purposes, contrary to section 57 of the Terrorism Act (TACT) 2000. He was then detained under TACT powers and a Warrant of Further Detention was obtained on Thursday 16 May at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, meaning that he can be detained in police custody up until Tuesday 21 May.

The arrest comes after an investigation was initially launched by Bedfordshire Police on 6 May when items, including a number of suspicious substances, were found at a residential address in Caddington.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing explosions likely to endanger life and possession of class A drugs. He was bailed while further enquiries were undertaken.

Due to the nature of items found, the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command was informed at that time, although the initial investigation remained with Bedfordshire Police.

On 13 May, and following continued searches at the address, the investigation was subsequently passed to the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command to lead.

Specialist officers continue to carry out searches at the address in Caddington. A number of items and substances have been recovered from the address. These are being dealt with and removed in a safe way by specialist officers, and there is currently not believed to be any risk to other local residents or the wider public.

Commander Dominic Murphy, Head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command said: "We're aware of some media reports and speculation which has suggested that a 'dirty bomb'-type device or materials may have been identified.

"However, I want to reassure the local community and the wider public that, at this time, we have found no evidence that any form of 'dirty bomb' has been or was being constructed, nor any evidence that one was being planned.

"As we've said previously, we have found a number of suspicious substances at the address in Caddington. Our priority at all times has been public safety - particularly in relation to other residents living nearby.

"We have had support from highly trained, specialist officers who have been helping us to identify and recover items and substances in the safest possible way, so as not to put those who are searching the property, nor those living in the area, at any risk.

"During the searches over the past few days, some very small traces of radiological material have been detected. I want to stress that at no stage was it identified as being at a level that would pose any kind of risk or harm to the public.

"I can also reassure the community that further enquiries and analysis has confirmed that the substances containing these traces are found in everyday use - such as material found in smoke alarms, or those historically used in paints for luminescent watch dials.

"Specialist officers continue to search the property, and we continue to monitor this extremely closely to ensure that there continues to be no risk to public.

"Finally, I'd like to thank the local community for their continued support and understanding while this investigation remains ongoing."

Officers continue to work closely with colleagues from Bedfordshire Police and the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) as the investigation continues.

Chief Superintendent Jacqueline Whittred, Head of the operation for Bedfordshire Police added: “Since our investigation began our priority has been the safety of the local residents and the wider public in Caddington.

“While the Counter Terrorism Command continues its investigation our officers will ensure this maintains as our focus. We will continue to have proactive patrols at the location and keep residents informed with regards to progress in conjunction with our counter terrorism colleagues.”

Guess the race/religion?
He’s the scrawniest whitest white you ever did see

Ahh. It’s the tism. I have a feeling his mother thinks he’s a good boy who didn’t do anything wrong.
The court heard Mr Whittaker, who appeared in the dock unshaven and wearing a prison issue grey tracksuit, had a "long-standing interest in chemistry and nuclear physics", was highly intelligent and suffered from Asperger's syndrome.

He is accused of four counts of possessing an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose and possessing a regulated substance without licence.
Ah yep, his mother does enable and defend him.

What did he have in his shed?
When a brick building was searched at the back of the property, officers reported finding a canister of potassium cyanide and two explosive devices.

Prosecutor Sally-Anne Russell told Westminster magistrates' court: "The initial investigations started on April 18. This was when the defendant called an ambulance service reporting breathing difficulties.

"He said that he had been handling chemicals and provided a list of 27 chemicals."

Oh Luton, you deserve your consistent Worst places to Live rank…

Of course he was white. Did you really think they would arrest a brown on terrorism offences? lol, lmao even.

Things are so bad that when I saw the race, my first thought was "Well, it depends on who he was gonna use it on."
From the sound of it he didn’t have a target, probably was going to sell it or blow up a cow lmao. I think I found his twitter, fits quite well, but it is empty. Doesn’t seem to have much popular social media presence, I’d imagine he’s a 4channer and avid Redditor lol. Hes allegedly a right wing extremist (the 88 is apparently a Nazi thing, HH, Heil hitler)

The blacks and browns just get arrested for stabbing I spose, most recent news was about knife attacks (and sex crimes).

May as well jump in with some gems from Lancs live

Well over half the pieces by this "reporter" are about "boy racers" whinging about car mods, driving standard etc. That really come down to "young males like this so I hate it and will endlessly complain about it".

Any comments secsection on those articles usually points out her previous driving actions, then it gets shuts down.

Oh look the controlled opposition grifter is back in charge of anything that could threaten tptb, never saw that coming...
He's replacing Tice which is a strict upgrade IMO. Tice has the charisma and speaking ability of a cavity wall insulation salesman, just listening to him introduce Farage on the stream was painful. Right now Farage is the only well-known voice in the country even articulating what's happening to us.

I wonder if Farage did actually change his mind, or if there were some backroom shenanigans with the Tories that fell through.

What did he have in his shed?
It's weirder that I know exactly what he was trying to build.

The forbidden hand grenade, the Zyklon Bomb. That's some Japanese Death Cult weapon. They tried to blow one on the subway, prior to their sarin attack.

If you mix KCN with an acid, it produces gaseous HCN. And amazingly - they only caught this guy because he Auschwitz'd himself. He wasn't on any watchlist.

He had a working device.
This autist was one fume hood short of having an actual WMD.

It sounds like the Government ought to be offering him a job of some kind rather than sending him to prison.

Reminds me of that guy who stole a plane. He's a white guy, the government will never offer him any job.

It's really worth noting that the only reason this guy was caught was that he went to the hospital. The way the article is written makes me immediately realise that this guy was building a fucking superweapon. And he was successful.

HCN is a very hot fuel - it's really energy dense.

For all the spying, a guy with 88 in his Twitter handle was able to produce KCN somehow - fuck knows, maybe LNG and ammonia burned with the resultant gas thrown into some KOH from batteries. Thing is, that burn produces hydrogen cyanide - he would have to change it from hydrogen cyanide to potassium cyanide. I can't imagine he just found it.

I think that's the bit where he fucked up. Instead of trying to cool down the gas into its liquid form, he tried to react it with some battery alkali or some other potassium source and accidentally breathed it in.

There's the fact that the police just seem confused too - they just stumbled upon a one-man Holocaust by accident and have no idea what to do about it.

this video is simply the best thing i've ever seen
Have you noticed how all the British users seem to be much angrier than all the other users?
