A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I'm not really sure how the Tories could win short of Labour themselves snatching defeat from victory. They've been in charge for over a decade and things have gotten substantially worse.
As always, people are voting to get one lot out rather than another lot in. I loathe the idea of Labour being in charge because they fuck up the economy and are on board with the trans lunacy. Having said that it’s not like the tories have covered themselves in glory the last few years, they’ve been a disgrace as well. We badly need an alternative that actually likes the country rather than seeing it as a piggy bank or an ideological testing ground
Old news, but wonder why he got attacked outside the pub.
He’s a cunt
@Rusty Metal Skull Gun the waspi women were screwed over. It’s not really about the fairness of evening up the ages (they should be the same) but how it was done and how it was communicated to them. This generation were mainly homemakers and were given no time at all to make alternative arrangements. What was done to them was wrong and they should be compensated.

Don't be a dumbfag.

We see a lot of hate for 'boomers' and the older generation, or ideas where we should take pensions away from old people because "lol they've had their time", but when we get old, when we cash our pensions, they won't be there, because dumbfags believed the rhetoric that "pensions bad".

To put it into context, the 'fifties women' - those who were robbed of five years of their pensions because they should have retired at 60 but the government rug-pulled them and swapped it to 65, a pension that equated to on average, £45,000. These people won't be compensated because the government has said it could cost upwards of £10 billion.
It will cost us £100 billion to house immigrants until 2030.

The priorities are not with the pensions now, let alone when we retire in 10, 20, 30 years or more. There are already talks of increasing the male pension age to 72.
Seventy-fucking-two. We will work until we die because we laughed at, seethed at and blamed 'boomers' for our ills.

The yewf has never been as retarded.
Modern society is a giant pyramid scheme for pensioners

The poor darlings, being treated the same as the men.
Don't be a retard. Women have their bodies fucked by having kids, it's only right that they retire a few years earlier than men and I'm saying that as a man. Plus, women out of the workplace as quick as possible is just a bonus.

If you read my post and thought the worst bit was the lack of equality, and not the willingly robbing of working class people who have earned a retirement and that money given to some stinking fucking foreigners, then kys, faggot.
Modern society is a giant pyramid scheme for pensioners
And so it should be. If I work for 40 years, I want enough money to enjoy my remaining non-pants-shitting years.
If you genuinely hate pensioners and think they're the problem, then you're not paying attention.
£100 billion to illegal migrants floating over on boats and sneaking in under/in lorries is an insane fucking number when the country is falling apart.

... You guys do realise the only reason why Boomers have the pensions they've got is because their parents taught them how to budget at an early age, right?

Meh, not really. Like everyone would, they're just feigning outrage because they smell gibs. It's not like anyone's going to be destitute, they're just going to be working longer.

I've genuinely not heard this argument before. The consensus on Mumsnet (https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_b...why-was-the-state-pension-age-lower-for-women) seems to be so that wife and husband retired at the same time. I don't know what the truth is - I suspect you'd have to comb through Hansard to check.

seems to be so that wife and husband retired at the same time.
Yeah that’s what it was. This is roughly my parents generation, and the vast majority of them didn’t work like my generation works. Women were usually allowed to work up to them getting pregnant, and then they were expected to resign, go home and take care of the house. Places like London I’m sure women had careers but they didn’t where we were. The two exceptions were teaching and nursing, where it was sort of acceptable for women to carry on, after a break to have kids, mainly.
A lot of that generation DID work, but they worked before marriage, and took a break for kids then got a pin money type job after the kids were old enough to get to school and back themselves. They entered the workforce with a set of expectations that this was how it would be, they’d get looked after in return for looking after husbands and kids. There was married women’s stamp etc.
The government then changed everything at very short notice and don’t notify them properly - there were cryptic ads in the paper but no letters sent to many women explaining what was happening. To be honest even if they had been notified they would still be screwed - if you’re fifty and have no work experience and still have teenage kids at home you’re expected to be there for what kind of a job are you getting? Part time and low wage mainly. The waspi women did get screwed over. They were on that cusp of times really changing and they got a raw deal.
Any change in pensions needs a huge run up so that people can change their saving and spending habits. I don’t know if you’re a Brit or American but if you’re a Brit you’ll know how little most working people have at the end of the month - America has much higher disposable and I envy your ability to sock money away

There is an increasing dependency ratio in this country. Productivity has stagnated, simply put pensions are becoming increasingly unaffordable to the state.
Whilst I would never begrudge a pension to someone who has made the necessary national insurance contributions over a 35 plus year career, the waspi women were warned as to what would happen, were given adequate notice and can thank their feminist sisters for fighting for equality. They won and got equality - the predictable result of all things reeking of left leaning policies - the state raised the pension age to match the male age ( i.e. brought everyone DOWN to the same level ).
Apologies for my cynicism, but all of that just smacks to me of people smelling a compensation claim on the flimsiest of foundations and thinking they will be able to claim "free" money. In my book all of these people had years to plan for this and should have cut their cloth accordingly. I am sick of the state ( i.e. the tax payer, those of us that do get out there and work ) having to pick up the slack. It's not like the pension age is going to go down any time soon, so it seems rather entitled to me to expect the state to provide a pension from 60 when female life expectancy is now 83 in the UK. That's 20 years of pension entitlement. As I understand it, when pensions were "modernised" around 1948 the retirement age was 65 for males and the life expectancy was 69 - The conclusion being that the government would only have to pay out for 4 years !!!
Any responsible person is planning for their retirement financially decades before their 60's, paying attention to state pension age announcements and either investing in a supplemental private pension or investing in property or some other asset to cover any perceived shortfall.
I am not a boomer hater, but there has to be a level of pragmatism applied to the affordability of state pensions. Even in France now it is 64 ( although they do protest more vehemently about it being raised ). Most of the people I know my age are planning not to get a state pension ( we're due in about 20 years ). Whilst I don't agree with that, as already stated, I strongly believe if you paid into the system for 40 years you should get something back. The problem for me is I'm a massive net contributor to the government, have been all my adult life, and I'm sick of never getting anything back ( and I forsee myself being massively fucked over regarding the state pension, so in that respect I would much rather contribute nothing and expect nothing in return ).
I also very much don't agree with it being means tested, I'm sick of funding other people's life styles, I don't see why I should compensate idiots that aren't responsible enough to plan ahead.
For me the answer is, as always, less government intervention, less taxes and let me reap the consequences of my own decisions.
"Seventy-fucking-two. We will work until we die because we laughed at, seethed at and blamed 'boomers' for our ills" - No, you will work until you die because you didn't get a well paying job or didn't make the necessary private pension contributions at an early enough age.
The state pension, as with the NHS, was originally planned as a bare minimum subsistence provider, if you want more, go out and earn it.

I don't hate pensioners. Every person who has made the necessary contributions should be entitled to a pension. They have made their contributions. They definitely are not the problem.
I don't disagree with the sentiment of you being paid a pension after working 40 years, I just don't share your optimism regarding the economics.
Net detractors are the problem ( those who take out the system more than they put in ).
The Left ( Labour ) believe we need massive immigration to lessen the dependency ratio as they believe ( optimistically ) that these people will become net contributors to society. I simply don't believe that under current laws. If we had a quota system regarding immigrants being allowed if they filled certain jobs needed in the employment market possibly, but I'm never going to be convinced they will take up the slack.
The unemployable or "black market" immigrants ( or those that send their earnings out of the country ) are all net detractors that will make the dependancy ratio worse.

No, they weren't. Some, at best, were given 6 months notice. 6 months to prepare for another 5 years in work, after winding down, making plans and planning to leave work.

I know one of these women and have worked with a few. None of them were given warning, regardless of what the government says.

6 months notice that they were going to some day have to retire when they had 40 years to prepare ?

And come 1995, John Major's Conservative government introduced the Pensions Act, setting out a timetable to make the change.
The legislation said the qualifying age for the state pension would slowly increase over 10 years between 2010 and 2020.

So in effect they had 15 years notice. Unless of course you expect the government to contact each and every one of them individually to confirm an event that was nationally reported in the news ? Perhaps the government should have included some toilet paper and the offer of a complimentary arse wiper too ?

As I said above, I'm a pessimist, certainly regarding any government promises. I absolutely don't expect to get a state pension in 20 odd years time when I retire, despite having made considerable contributions, meeting the criteria. So in that respect any positive news the government makes I'm very cautious and disbelieving, any negative news I expect worse still.

I have much more sympathy for Otterly's arguments regarding the work and pension culture of that generation, but unfortunately my feelings that the responsibility of the individual to care for themself trumps any responsibility of the state ( and other tax payers ).

The gov are being real fucking sneaky acting like they're the oldsters champions for preserving the sacred triple lock whilst screwing them over every chance they get everywhere else.
Winds me up more than the "weel oooohlwahs voooted LAYBAH! weeel ooohwahs vooote LAYBAH!", types, especially since maggie has been worm food for too long now, we need a new icon of sin to replace her.

Antifa Battered In Coolock, Their Phones Seized By Nationalists Apparently Revealing Seedy Links Between Media, NGOs, and Far Left

Earlier today, locals protesting against a refugee centre in Coolock, Dublin were confronted by leftist journalists and other antifa types. Here are the facts as we understand them from local first-hand sources in Coolock. We will be updating this article as more details are established:
  • A small group of men arrived in the afternoon of Saturday April 6th to the old Crown Paints Factory in Coolock which is being picketed by locals opposing the plantation of up to 1000 asylum seekers there. They arrived to counterprotest and take footage
  • According to video and our sources, the men were told to leave as they allegedly posed a risk to the women and children at the protest
  • When they wouldn’t move on, they were apprehended by the locals, had their flags seized, and forced to vacate the area
  • Some of the protestors dropped their mobile phones, unlocked, at the scene, along with other belongings such as driver’s licenses and UK identification
  • The protestors reviewed the content of the phones to delete any invasive content that had been recorded
  • On one phone, which seems to belong to a mainstream journalist, would appear to show a concerning level of cooperation between various media sources, NGO workers, and prominent antifa operatives in both Ireland and the UK
  • Our sources explained, and this appears to be corroborated by messages on the phone, that the antifa group had planned to oppose an anti-immigration protest in the city centre. They ultimately went to Coolock as they thought there would only be women and children there
  • The videos of the phone’s content, widely circulating on social media, seem possibly to hold a vast quantity of insider info on the Far Left in Ireland
  • The contents are certain to be studied in detail by nationalists. Already it seems the phone numbers of maybe a majority of prominent pro-plantation activists have been revealed
  • This embarrassing physical humiliation for the Left, along with the trove of info revealed, is the final nail in the coffin of street-level leftist organising in the 26 counties. The time of “No Pasaran” has passed

I'm an idiot who is dumb dumb when it comes to pensions, but I thought the hatred for boomers when it comes to pensions was due to the pyramid scheme nature of them that mean the millennials, zoomers, and alphas won't see anything from them?

The boomers brought in triple lock pensions and other things because as a big generation, it was affordable. When Gen-x was smaller, and life expectancy increased by a decade, who would pay the difference was a concern. So they looked to gen-x and said-

"Instead of putting money into a pot and taking it out when you retire, gen-xs pension saving will go straight to the boomers!"
"Great idea! But who will pay will gen-x's pensions?"
"The millennials. And each later generation will pay for the pensions of the previous one. It's a flawless system provided each generation being the same size or bigger than the previous one."

And of course because of other factors like housing, the population is collapsing. So much so that unless you're in the elite, there's a good chance millennials and later will never retire.

And even when they try to save on their own, like this post suggests
... You guys do realise the only reason why Boomers have the pensions they've got is because their parents taught them how to budget at an early age, right?
-it doesn't work because the savings are dissolved by inflation anyway.

While advice like "sell your house to fund your retirement" misses obvious things like younger generations not being able to buy a house, in part because boomers and venture capital are hording them all.

I am just reminded that we would not be having issues with Pensions if the Elites did not waste money on shit. And/or dip into the pot.

The Gov has enough money if they actually cared about it. They always do.

Long-story short but we had a surplus of pension pot money in the 90s, Tony B Liar decided to dip in to it to cover for shortfalls in other departments, then every man and his dog started dipping into it. A short time later, that money was gone.

Gen-x et al, pay national insurance and tax, some of which goes into the government pension pot, which is now empty apart from one note saying "IOU, lol, sorry not sorry".

However, the millenials, gen-z et al are fucking retarded and are brainwashed into blaming 'boomers' instead of realising that their money is being stolen by the government and given, almost directly, to immigrants. I don't mean that in a "dey tuk r jerbs" or racist way, it's just a fact and the UK government openly admit it. The current government has said it will cost TAXPAYERS £100 billion to house and feed the fuckers from now til 2030, yet we can't afford to give people who are paying into the system, a pension?

This is why no-one should be against the 'boomers' and the triple-lock, because the money that people are putting into the system FOR RETIREMENT is being stolen from them and given to others. The life expectancy has gone down since covid, yet the retirement age is increasing.

It's all a fucking scam and while people argue over some invented generational lines, with their piss-poor and pathetic attitudes of "I want what they have now and I don't want to wait 40 years to earn it like they did", they will continue to get robbed blind, in broad day light.

-it doesn't work because the savings are dissolved by inflation anyway.
Counter point: Most boomers also didn't store most of their money in banks and usually always have an emergency fund they put £10 every week or so into.

However, the millenials, gen-z et al are fucking retarded and are brainwashed into blaming 'boomers' instead of realising that their money is being stolen by the government and given, almost directly, to immigrants. This. It doesn't help that during the 80s most kids began to reject the lessons boomers could teach about saving for the future and I don't just mean cash. Lots of boomers, despite what the government would have you believe, grew up in poverty and had to learn skills to maximize their chances of survival thanks to their parents (particularly women) making it through WW2. As things became more and more convenient those skills have been deemed unnecessary and even primitive. Most kids when I was young didn't know how to do things like peel potatoes for example and I've actually had to show some of my high school friends how to do it. That's how bad things had gotten by the time I was unfortunately birthed into the world.

Really it's just another way of keeping the population under control and dependent on a system that doesn't give two shits about its native people. Strip the population of the skills it needs to be self-sufficient and then regulations are brought in with "approved" methods to take care of oneself akin to North Korea or China.

It doesn't help that during the 80s most kids began to reject the lessons boomers could teach about saving for the future
I can't speak for the 80s, but during the 00s and 10s, a lot of financial advice from boomers was woefully out of touch. "Get a trade, job for life" turned out to be true, but a lot didn't. "You need a degree or you'll be stuck flipping burgers" being an infamous one. A common one in my local area is/was "get a job at the railyard shoveling coal". Trains haven't ran on coal for 40 years, but they still expect it to be a viable way to make quick cash to buy a house.

Unless of course you expect the government to contact each and every one of them individually to confirm an event that was nationally reported in the news ? Perhaps the government should have included some toilet paper and the offer of a complimentary arse wiper too ?
Yes they should have sent each of them a letter outlining what was being done. My work pension does every time there’s a change or something I need to be made aware of. Advertising alone is not acceptable. The ads were also weird and cryptic.
This is another legislation by spite - it’s encouraging us to say ‘screw them they should have known’ when these women lived in different times and did what society expected of them - pay married women’s stamp and look after the home, and get part time jobs at most. Then the next time the pot is empty there will be a precedent.
Its not the average boomer who is the issue - most of them worked hard, the older ones grew up during rationing, and they deserve the retirement. They paid in. We all pay in. Its the predatory bastards at the to asset stripping the country, dipping into public money for private gain or personal/ideological projects and selling us up the river.
I’m a net contributor too and I’m furious at how poorly tax money is spent. I want it spent on people who genuinely need it and on things that benefit the country. If someone has a works accident and is disabled I want them looked after. I want the council to fix the fucking roads anmd put some flowers in the pots in town. Instead we’ve got illegals taking up half the hotel rooms in the country and the roads look like downtown Mogadishu.
We are being actively mismanaged into decline and destruction and being encouraged to blame pensioners who grew up in poverty and worked hard for what they have.
