A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Private Eye nail their covers a lot. Even when using only text.

I doubt anyone in London was willing to read it in public with that cover.
Private Eye nowadays is the very definition of safe-edgy. They parrot the views of the Blob, and then pretend they're being anti-Establishment. See also: any time they mentioned Brexit or COVID.

Edit - so I'm not just praising Private Eye Galloway has now decided to target Angela Rayner's seat.
Ashton, really? It's not nearly Islamic enough. Bradford or Leicester, maybe.

Has been for a very long time. Their chief editor was routinely on the BBC doing a panel show after all. You don’t get to do that every week without being safe.

Moreso than you'd think, especially north, toward Oldham and down west toward audenshaw. There's also a bloody great mosque just past Richmond street. I used to pass it on the way to howarths, back when I had reason to be down there.

Very much so, they inadvertently did what looked like a genuinely funny cartoon of Tucker Carlson saying "I'm here in London to get the cancer's side of the story" and it took me a moment to realise they were talking about the Royal news, not London itself being a disease. That said their coverage of corrupt councils and dodgy dealings still tends to be quite good.

It's not but I dislike both George and Angela and have no problems with them sniping at one another. Given these morons are maintained by the taxpayer I at least want to get some amusement out of them.

To be fair, their readers would likely agree with the cancer.

And if Cells at Work taught me anything it’s that ‘Just doing my job, don’t want to do this but have no choice’ is a really sympathetic story

BBC method for reporting the "news". Approach a left wing group for a quotation that suits their sordid little agenda. Legitimise said group by calling it a "think tank" or a "charity".
Cowdery (founder of Resolution) is personally of the "centre left" and has given small sums – "below £5,000" – to both Labour and the Liberal Democrats and was a hardcore Remainer. But it's okay, you can trust the BBC. No bias whatsoever. No. But seriously.
You read the comments section and all the Guardian / BBC reading luuvies lap it up. I do wonder if it is that I had an education, or I'm naturally cynical, but my initial instinct with any news article is to question the source of it. What is their agenda ? Who pays them ? Why are they writing this ? What is their motivation for it ?
Whilst I admit to being right leaning politically, I like to read the left wing press, to at least attempt to see a counter argument and get some balance to my views. The issue I have with the BBC is that it presents itself as neutral, when it is anything but that. Obviously this leads on to the whole debate of the licence fee and why we are in effect paying to have a state run left wing propaganda machine. Then there is that jug eared cunt Lineker. Don't even get me started on him. I believe he holds the record number of individual nominations on my other favourite website...

I really don't see the point of BBC News. They're doing something the private sector already does, and does much better. There's no such thing as politically unbiased news, as there's bias even in which stories you decide to cover.

Also, from that page:

Another journalist dies suddenly.

BBC Scotland presenter Nick Sheridan dies after short illness

His death at the age of 32 was announced by the BBC on Thursday morning.

He had presented programmes including Reporting Scotland, Drivetime, the Nine and Seven Days since joining the corporation in 2018.

BBC Scotland head of news Gary Smith said Nick had been a "wonderful colleague to those of us who have worked with him".

He added: "He was a hugely talented journalist, presenter and author - and one of those rare people who light up the lives of everyone around them. Funny, clever, kind. A lovely man.

"Our hearts go out to his parents, who have been with him over the past ten days, to his partner, Lewis, and to all the rest of his family and friends."

First Minister Humza Yousaf paid tribute to Sheridan as he started his weekly question session in the Scottish Parliament chamber, describing him as an "extremely talented journalist and author".

Mr Yousaf added: "He will be greatly missed. Many of us in this chamber will have been questioned by Nick - quite robustly no doubt - whether it was on BBC Drivetime or on many of the other programmes that he presented.

"My thoughts are with his family, his many friends and indeed his colleagues. It will undoubtedly be a very sad time for them."

Originally from Wexford in Ireland, Sheridan had worked in broadcasting for more than a decade.

He had previously spent two years reporting and presenting RTE News2day, the young person's news programme for Ireland's national broadcaster, before moving to the main newsroom where he worked on the foreign affairs desk.

He joined BBC Scotland as a researcher, before becoming in turn a camera journalist, correspondent and presenter.

He left his staff post to focus on writing children's books, but continued as a regular freelance presenter on BBC Scotland's radio and TV news programmes.

Cause of death not stated, but the rumour is aneurysm or heart attack. He collapsed while out running, according to The Sun.

An MP has said that the way Milton Keynes has been portrayed in EastEnders was "out of order".
On Monday the character of Bianca Jackson, played by Patsy Palmer, returned to screens in scenes set in her home in Milton Keynes.
One viewer, who has lived in Milton Keynes since the 1970s, said: "They've chosen my city, my home, as a place to depict as being a slum."
The BBC press office declined to comment.

In one scene a child character living in Milton Keynes was described as not being in school and instead "roaming the estate, carting drugs around, eating out of bins".
Shortly afterwards an argument began and a brick was thrown through a window by Bianca.

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said he was unhappy with the portrayal.
The Conservative MP said he would be contacting producers of the programme to suggest writing another storyline about "some of the brilliant parts of Milton Keynes".
He said the programme's characters could be shown to walk around Willen Lake. He added: "I am quite positive about Milton Keynes and I want them to show the good side as well."
He added: "Like every city we got parts that aren't as good as the others, but the characterisation is completely out of order."
The scenes for the episode were filmed in Barnet, London, and saw characters Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and her partner Zack Hudson (James Farrar) visit Bianca who has not been seen on the programme since 2019.

A caller to the JVS show on BBC Three Counties Radio said he had to switch off BBC1 when he watched the programme.
Arthur, who has lived in Milton Keynes since the 1970s, told Three Counties Radio: "They've chosen my city, my home, as a place to depict as being a slum.
"If [the city] was a business the producers would have lawyers sitting on their doorstep looking to sue them."

Imagine malding this hard over an episode of fucking EastEnders.

It used to be great. Little bits of it are still good. The ‘rotten boroughs’ section was fab.
It has been neither sharp nor a thorn in the side of power for almost a decade now. Sad, because it used to be a very good rag.

It's also one of the few places documenting the infighting going on at places like the Guardian.

Mr Kaba was driving in Streatham on the night of 5 September 2022 when he was stopped by police in two cars.
In the moments that followed, Mr Kaba was shot in the head through the car windscreen. He died in the early hours of the following day.

Except...........this isn't really what happened, is it BBC ? Some rather glaring omissions which paint a rather different picture when included......

On the day of the shooting, an unmarked vehicle followed the car Kaba was driving (which had been linked to a firearms incident the previous day) until it met a police road block. Armed police who had been in a marked car approached on foot. Witnesses said that Kaba refused to leave the car and drove it into one of the police cars, attempting to ram through the road block. One of the armed officers fired a single round at Kaba through the car windscreen. He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries the following day.

So Kaba, who coincidentally had previous for carrying an imitation firearm and served time in a young offenders' institute, refused to follow police instructions, rammed a police car and at that time there was a reasonable suspision he was armed and a threat to the life of other people.

One could speculate why the BBC decided to circulate such a redacted, biased version of events ? It would almost be as if they deliberately lied in order to suit a specific agenda of favouring the anti-Police version ?

Today the officer that fired the shot was named by cucked Judge Mark Lucraft, as it was " on the basis that confidence in the criminal justice system requires cases to be held, wherever possible, in public " - as applied for by the cuck media, headed by the BBC. So if anything happens to this officer or his family, I hope this judge takes responsibility for his actions.

I for one will be watching this unfold with great interest. I already perceive many of those that administer the Law as traitors to the English and their way of life - immigration ( "human" and "refugee" rights over English ) and criminal ( erosion of the rule of law, failure to jail eco-terrorists, statue vandals and BLM rioters ). So it will be interesting to see if they decide to favour the agenda of the left wing press in further disempowering the police, which will only embolden the criminals. Will they be satisfied when Stabistan becomes Shootistan ?
