A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The problem is that most of our recent blacks are west african, or from islamic shitholes, and are the utter dregs of their societies. I'll give you the run down on the "black problem" then. The blacks the UK gets are typically directly from "the source" as in Africa and the Caribbean and not ones who by their credit to the African Americans, have lived in the US for at least a century. What this has done is bring over some of the most violent and uncivilized blacks Africa and the Caribbean has to offer which has in turn made the streets of the UK (namely London and Birmingham) extremely violent which in another twist of cruel irony, made the whites and other ethnic groups more violent as a response.

America has a giant ocean to separate it from Africa which deters a lot of them from attempting it and it also makes applying harder as they have to actually fly or boat over their which is expensive. Some have figured out the Mexico method but it doesn't seem to be wide spread yet. Most would rather hop on a dingy over the Mediterranean to get into Europe, easier and cheaper.

Now the Caribbean is a very UK exclusive issue. As the Caribbean was once a part of the British commonwealth, they have an easier time immigrating over to the UK and the UK's benefits/welfare system is vastly more generous then the US's so most choose to come here, easily get into the country then shit up the system as they get their gibs.

If you're in the north-west, watch Wallace & Gromit and Coronation Street with subtitles on, it's not perfect but it will probably help.
If you're going to some heathen place like Newcastle then God help you, last time I was over that way I was sat in a cafe and it took me a good 5 minutes to realise the lads in the corner weren't speaking some variety of slavic lingo.

It gets worse. A total of 1.2 million people came into the country of 2023, with around 500k leaving, for a net of 750,000. It's projected to be higher this year. The way things are going we might get 1 million net, which would mean more than one and a half million new arrivals, a significant proportion of whom are fighting age males.

There's very little Badenoch can do about that, other than promise to send them all back if the tories get into power. The people who are in a position to fix it want it to happen. I'm not in the habit of predicting race wars and such, but I can understand why people might think one is coming. Starmer and co are playing an incredibly dangerous game.

Lol so being in Baltimore, I get DC area TV broadcast in my area. I don't get Philly TV because the most useless city in America, Wilmington, Delaware, is in the way. But I have a clear path to DC.

Rich DC people like to feel cultured, so their PBS station has a wholly British substation. They license old British sitcoms and stuff to broadcast from America's capitol city. WETA UK is the station name.
