A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

What utter bullshit. They didn't try to shut down the paki chippies because they knew the pakis would go ballistic and start destroying everything. It has nothing to do with hiring solicitors to make it difficult to execute their plans. It had everything to do with 30 guys turning up with baseball bats and telling the police to fuck off. They used intimidation and violence to force any one taking too big an interest to back down. It's not as popular now as it used to be but they would turn up at your house and slash your car tires. Making it very clear if you did not back down they would be targeting your kids next. I won't go into detail but I've had first hand experience of this growing up and saw it happening to others as well.

The reason they took over taxis is because it doesn't pay very well and it's low skilled work. It's the same every where and has nothing to do with family connections. Low skill, low pay work they can underpay you for and make you work insane hours is exactly why the invaders take it and the natives won't.

I'm not saying Pakistanis won't use violence, particularly when it comes to encouraging non Pakistanis to move out of an area. However the reason they've been so successful in the UK is because they have a parallel society which is based around strong family and community relationships. The British family unit started to be deconstructed in the 1960's, in the 1980's white working class communities were hammered when heavy industry was allowed go to the wall.

There are problem inherent to white british society, which makes it particularly vulnerable, in a way that hasn't happened in countries like say France, Denmark or Ireland. The Irish have been burning down asylum centres for the last year, and even the most left wing, Soros shill wouldn't talk about the public in the way the typical british MP does.

There's always muslim attacks at Christmas. It will be interesting to see if they hold off a few months then go ballistic when the nights close in. NHS and social care: You have to stop thinking the NHS is failing because of sheer pressure. The NHS is failing by design. I part own a multisite dental practice. Fucking trust me about this. The dentists are moving quietly back into exclusively private practice simply by closing the NHS lists. As for the hospitals, the Lansley reforms were designed to make them suitable for private takeover. They have succeeded. There's been no top down reorganisation ever since, because there doesn't need to be. The effect of the systemic underfunding has been multiplied by the pandemic to the extent that the NHS simply cannot be put back on its feet. Don't expect anyone you elect to do this. It genuinely can no longer be done with taxpayer money under existing laws in any medium time frame before collapse.

Taken literally this is extremely bad advice and would lead you being treated as a self-harm risk i.e. strip-searched and put in a cell (probably with restraints on) until you can be medically assessed. The policy here is that if the cops can't ascertain what risk you pose, you will be treated like you're the maximum risk whether that's to yourself or others. Tell them your name and address (so they can determine that you're not a wanted murderer) and answer the medical questions. The cops will not let go of you until they can identify you and you could be in and bailed out within a few hours if you provide the minimum level of cooperation.

2022 Hindu Leicester riots vs Muslims

In August and September 2022, Leicester, England, saw a period of religious and ethnic tension between predominately British Hindus and British Muslims of South Asian origin.
