A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

There's a lot of buzz going on about "far right thugs" and "media silence" (there is no media silence, all the main papers are reporting on this), but it's also worth noting the police were more happy to get shovey-punchy with this crowd than any time the Palestinian protesters turn on en masse, because they're less scared of people waving St George's flags.
I honestly hate British pigs more than any pigs in the world. I'd rather have the most deranged Officer Nigger Hater here than these cowardly cuckolds you have over there. It's like they actively hate the actual citizens while sucking the cocks of Paki child molesters. What the FUCK is WRONG with these so-called cops?

Mummy Farrow put it best when she described them as university educated idiots, these are hall monitors who spent 10+ years in education with no real world experience being installed directly into positions of real world authority and the results are what we get.
Hick sheriffs at least know how to throw hands the tossers we're stuck with struggle with kids nicking sweets.

Laurence Fox claimed on twitter that he had been "beaten by police" during the wee pro-Stephen Yaxley Lennon side demo that was going on.

To widespread disappointment, the footage shows he was day drunk and fell over while trying to impede a police officer who was defending themselves from assault by another drunk prick.

The nation's wait for "Laurence Fox gets the absolute shit kicked out of him: VIDEO" sadly continues

You know what they say, be the change you wish to see in the world.
I respect Billie Piper's determination to keep her children's private life private, but honestly, I just want her to explain how the fuck she didn't slap him.

There is no excuse for domestic violence but Laurence Fox definitely counts as powerful mitigation.

I am filled with immense lack of satisfaction with this outcome.

The comments in this video are all varieties of retarded.

>You did colonialism so it's your turn to suffer
>This is all capitalism's fault which you invented
>Muh Royal Family
>Muh billionaires
>Just imagine if it were America, there'd be gun crime!
>This is what you get for voting for Brexit!
>Muh Ukraine
>Muh Israel
>Muh Russia
>Luxury poverty
>Muh communism
>Wealth tax
>Having children is a luxury
>Bidenomics

It's all so tiresome.

I have a relative who was a cop forty-odd years ago. From how she describes things, rozzers were always a little corrupt and a little bastardly, but they used to be part of the community they served and were known to everyone they interacted with, so they had to rein in their excesses lest they find their house on fire and their car covered in pig shit. The exception, as always, was London, where the metropolitan police force was a gigantic unitary force, whose officers lived in one place and worked in another entirely. The Met has always been corrupt and unaccountable for this reason. (Worse still was the City of London Police, which was and is a quasi-private paramilitary organisation that exclusively served the interests of the City of London Corporation).

The change came, as always, in the late 90s with the Blair government. Local county city police forces were haphazardly re-organised into unitary regional forces, styled after the Metropolitan Police, with heavy influenced from the French gendarmerie. They operated from centralised headquarters, built at a great remove from the areas they served, which meant that response times were always consistent because it took so long to get anywhere. Foot patrols were almost completely abolished, replaced with "community support officers" (they were called speed bumps around my way, because they were about as useful as sleeping policemen). The actual police force retreated to their high castles and became bureaucrats and paper-pushes. At the same time, the Met's unstated policy of hiring closed-minded, sociopathic fuckwits was expanded nationwide, to ensure the maximum level of innate obedience from the rank and file. This was followed up with internal educational strategies to bring them up to speed with basic ideas like reading without moving your lips, along with programming them into repeating whatever is the current trendy political position.

You can see the ultimate outcome of this policy in the Met, in the form of former Police Commissioner Cressida Dick. She was exactly the sort of incurious, unintelligent, violent, self-centered moron that the service desired, which is why during her career she authorised multiple shootings of innocent people and presided over one of the most corrupt eras of the Met in history (and that's saying something).

What I'm saying is, it's all Blair's fault that our police are so craven these days. They always had the potential for it, but they were kept in check by social pressures until Blair let them off the leash with his "reforms". I was given a gun, two bullets, and a time machine and told I could take out two historical figures before they could gain power, I'd go back and shoot him twice.

I always knew that faggot was evil. I could forgive sucking Clinton's dick. I could forgive sucking Bush's dick. But enthusiastically sucking both their dicks showed he had no principles whatsoever. He wasn't sucking Yank dick because he agreed with the dude attached to the dick. He just loved sucking dick, period, the more authoritarian it was, the better.

Don't forget the genius decision to remove control of the Metropolitan Police from the Home Secretary to give it to the Mayor of London.

So this came kinda outta nowhere. i do wonder if some of the press are right in their speculation that it was a case of jumping before he could be pushed becausethe Greens were likely planning this on their end due to the recent failure and scrapping of the climate targets.

I bet there's a troonism element as well. The Greens nowadays are far more pro-tranny than they are pro-environment, and despite their failings the SNP aren't stupid enough to believe they can ignore the Cass Report.

Breakdown of the no confidence numbers from that article.

*Note that the no confidence motion is against the PM _personally_ , not his party, which apparently does not constitutionally require him to step down if lost. But he probably would? Maybe? Peoples lack of shame continues to amaze me.

The SNP has 63 MSPs.

There are now already 57 MSPs lined up to vote against Yousaf: Conservatives (31), Labour (22) and Lib Dems (4).

The Greens have 7 MSPs and Alba just one (Ash Regan).

UPDATE
Jings, crivvens and help ma' boab!

If the PM loses the vote the Party will sack them as it’s terrible optics to be led and have the country ran by such a person.

They could stay on sure but it would be suicide for the Party to do so.

The one that brought down Yousaf's predecessor, that one?
Yes, the same one that Yousaf then attempted to appeal after it was blocked by the PM, despite the fact it was blocked on fairly obvious grounds.

Also, while it might not be as satisfying as watching him getting his ass kicked, Laurence Fox has just been hit with £180k in damages in his libel trial:
Laurence Fox has been ordered to pay £90,000 in damages each to two people he referred to as "paedophiles".
The actor-turned-politician lost a High Court case with former Stonewall trustee Simon Blake and drag artist Crystal.
The remarks on X, formerly Twitter, came in an exchange about Sainsbury's marking Black History Month.
Mrs Justice Collins Rice said the comments were "gross, groundless and indefensible".
Reclaim Party founder Mr Fox - who said at the time that he would boycott Sainsbury's - counter-sued the pair over tweets accusing him of racism and attempted to sue broadcaster Nicola Thorp for the same reason.
In January, the court ruled in favour of Mr Blake and former RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Crystal, whose real name is Colin Seymour, and dismissed Mr Fox's counter-claims.
The judge did not make a ruling on whether describing Mr Fox as "a racist" was "substantially true", after finding the three tweets in his counter-claim were unlikely to cause serious harm to his reputation.
On Thursday, Mrs Justice Collins Rice said in her written ruling: "By calling Mr Blake and Mr Seymour paedophiles, Mr Fox subjected them to a wholly undeserved public ordeal.
"It was a gross, groundless and indefensible libel, with distressing and harmful real-world consequences for them.
