A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Random thing to post, but Kim Kardashian getting uninvited by the Queen and the Royal Family just in time for Jubilee was pretty hilarious to me for some reason

BBC getting ripped on social media for being disingenuous cunts as per:

A man is in a critical condition after being Tasered by police and falling in the River Thames.
Police were called to reports of a man armed with a screwdriver and shouting on Chelsea Bridge Road, in Chelsea, just after 09:00 BST on Saturday.
Officers challenged a man in his 40s before shooting him with a Taser. He then fell into the river.

"Fell" my fucking arse.

Leftists on social media absolutely fucking seething because the government have said that people hunger striking in protest at being sent to Rwanda may end up being sent there even sooner.

Love this policy, and love watching all the fucking seething ongoing with it. It's great too as it deals with the boat people by sending them almost as far as fucking way as humanly possible, in exchange for Rwanda getting a bung from us.

Worth. Every. Penny.

I dislike the implication she was invited in the first place instead of randomly turning up only to be turned down by some redcoat in a bearskin hat.

Ahhh, never thought I'd say this, but they're doing some good! That's the most polite 'fuck off to Africa' I've ever heard! Brilliant.
It will never happen. The UK Courts will stop it, the lawyers are just waiting for things to progress so they can milk the most amount of legal aid as possible from it.

What’s delicious about it is when they arrive in Rwanda, they can claim asylum - Rwandan asylum.
It will never happen.
I think that’s part of the plan. If the legal leches start to invoke Humun Rights objections it will give the government the excuse for amendment or total repeal of the HRA.

May won hers and still had her hand forced.
It's worth noting that May also won hers with a better percentage as well. ~36% voted no confidence, vs %41 for BoJo. Of course there is a major difference in that she ultimately left after getting cucked repeatedly on her shitty Brexit deals, and there's nothing major like that on the horizon for BoJo (not to mention he doesn't have the stones to walk away if the party start rebelling against his proposals anyway)

That's only slightly better than Thatcher's result near the end of her government in 1990. And Boris still has a few years to go so I can only see this getting worse for him.

Fun times are ahead if he continues the way he's going. This would be a great result for the opposition since it not only shows a good amount of his own MPs lack confidence in him but that he still has enough to continue making a mess to piss off more of the public.

The only people I've noticed that still support him heavily online are the staunch unionists, lead posioned gammons and ukrainians. Apart from those three, everyone including Tories themselves have had enough of his shite.

How long until newspapers start claiming that the voters colluded with each other in order to make the percentage reference a hate symbol?
