A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Jeremy's brother has been a bit naughty. Holding an anti-vax protest outside the Old Bailey while a massive rape and murder trial was happening.

Piers for PM!

What does it say about his family that he's the smart one?

He isn't. But I'd be fascinated to find out at what point the
split occurred for him and Jeremy. Both clearly find the same methods and extreme attitudes acceptable but they choose such different causes.
Smart enough to not go into professional politics at any rate.

It was probably some autistic argument about an allotment boundary. They both seem like the type to be extremely petty about who owns the blackberry cane that strayed over the line.

why do faggots have based brothers ? Like Malik Obama now we have this one,

After over a week of blocking national infrastructure, they're still free to do as they please
the absolute most infuriating part of this (at least to me) is this bit:
Insulate Britain said the demonstrators include eight people released from police custody on Thursday after blocking the M25 at Junction 30 in Essex, and others who were arrested earlier this week.

On the plus side they continue to further alienate working people from their asshattery.

They're probably hoping someone will try and run them over.

UK far right promoting sexual violence against women, report finds

Sexual violence is increasingly being promoted by the British far right, according to new analysis documenting how misogyny is used to steer individuals towards adopting racist and antisemitic views.

Investigators found that pro-rape comments were “not uncommon” among the UK extreme right and that a culture has taken root that endorses sexual violence. Analysing misogyny and anti-feminist channels on the messaging app Telegram, a key online platform for the far right, they found sexual assault was a “prominent theme”.

So in the last few years we've had Muslim rape gangs in almost every major UK city, "honor killings", refugees killing women and literally chopping them up, but hey, "the far right" are the biggest threat to UK women, apparently.
You know it's all bad, right?

I'm still trying to work out how White men think vilifying and devaluing mothers, and scapegoating women and girls for all evil, is going to save the White race lol..

Influential figures include Tor Gustafsson Brookes, also known as Catboy Kami, an Australian far-right troll who rose to prominence last year for his misogynistic and racist stunts, including mocking the death of George Floyd.

His English-language group on Telegram has more than 10,000 members and hosted than 4m posts in just over a year, including numerous rape “jokes” and rape threats.
Painting that catboy troll as 'the right' is pretty disingenuous.

They also examined 73 English-language antisemitic far-right Telegram channels and chat groups, which provided 5,684,738 text messages, and found that misogynistic content was “prevalent”. Misogynistic keywords were detected in more than 85,000 posts, with the word “rape” among the most common, occurring in almost 46,200 posts, and “rapist” in a further 3,900.

Many posts referred to the sexual assault of white women and children by minority ethnic groups, a longstanding far-right trope that enables white men to play a patriarchal “protector” role.
So they were upset over their own people being raped somewhat routinely for several decades? Horrible!

The recent emphasis on sexual violence partly stems from the Order of Nine Angles (ONA), a longstanding Nazi satanist network
So spooks investigated spooks. "Our astroturfed anti-english activist group found our fake nazi satanist group saying lots of nasty stuff!"

Typical for the Guardian, its blatantly bullshit propaganda.

The same poll also found an openness to antisemitism among many young people; 14% of all young people polled, and 19% of young men, claimed they believed that “Jewish people have an unhealthy control over the world’s banking system”.
1 in 5 ain't bad, but need to pump those numbers up.

Insulate Britain are at it again, they're blocking the M1 and M4 today. After over a week of blocking national infrastructure, they're still free to do as they please, after all we only send people to prison for truly heinous crimes such as saying "Baboon D'Or on Facebook", which is serious enough to be jailed for eight weeks, apparently.
Come on baby, keep working your way up the country. I want to see the rough arsed Northerners and Bradford pakis kick off when you block the M62 and M606

Those shitty cones won't stop a van, car or truck of peace :story:

such a weir thing to protest about: who gest passionate about loft insulation? i wonder whos funding this group...
They act like they think it's a hot-button issue with the general population, what with the rising cost of energy and such in the last year or three. The problem is, successive governments have run insulation incentive schemes since the mid-2000s, while great swathes of older, harder to insulate housing stock have been demolished and replaced with tiny bugman box apartments and townhouses built to passive house standards. Mostly that's left are edge-cases that wouldn't benefit from extra insulation, or holdouts who wouldn't take advantage of any government scheme or grant and would have to be forced to insulate at gunpoint.

If I were to guess, I'd say that the funding comes from people who want a repeat of the grants and kickbacks that came with the previous schemes.

There's not much information about liam norton (the cowardly faggot who ran away from richard madeley of all people), but from his accent and demeanor, I'd guess he worked in trades and probably had transitioned to a consultancy operation, exploiting government grants and subsidies for insulation and the like. Probably ran one of those big subsidy farming companies that does a by-the-numbers rush-job, tossing insulation into a loft without properly planning it, or pouring acres of polystyrene ball insulation into wall cavities without planning for damp coursing. The sort of thing you can launder huge amounts of government money through. He's campaigning to get himself more money, basically.

Yeah, no surprise there. Not an official government report though, just the usual suspects.

What does being white have to do with misogyny? Did they forget to come up with a connection or something?

But yeah, let's zero in on that lone incident involving one guy and six victims, as opposed to gangs of illiterate Muslim rapists with thousands of victims.

Many posts referred to the sexual assault of white women and children by minority ethnic groups, a longstanding far-right trope that enables white men to play a patriarchal “protector” role.

Trope? These are events that happened, they're not a trope. That's such a cowardly, warped way to describe it.

It's crazy how little the left cares about rape & sex trafficking victims.

Good news everyone, the UK Twitter users have cracked what's causing Facebook's problems. It is naturally, that old enemy that causes everything.

BREXIT!!!!!!

Facebook and its affiliated services such as Whatsapp and Instagram are reporting severe outages affecting hundreds of millions of people. Many people have taken to Twitter to express their frustration, and some say the blame lies with Brexit.

Many people have taken to Twitter, which has not been affected, to express their frustration, and some say the blame lies with Brexit.

Among those sharing their thoughts on the situation are remainers.

Many claim the issues experienced by the masses is due to Britain leaving the European Union.

Twitter was flooded with messages placing the blame at the door of Brexit and the Government, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson who helped push forward Britain's exit from the bloc.

While others also expressed their fury, and likened the outage to the fuel crisis impacting the UK currently, and the food shortages witnessed in supermarkets nationwide.

@19youngstar84 wrote "First petrol shortage now, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp go down?! F****** Brexit!"

While another user - @priteshpatel9 - wrote "Is Facebook, WhatsApp and insta down because of supply chain issues? Workers? Brexit? Fuel shortage?"

The sentiment was echoed by @MemoryL66809557 who referred to the series of incidents as signifying "the end of the world".

They wrote: "Pandemic, Fuel shortages, Brexit, Food shortages polar ice-cap melting and now Facebook down. If that doesn't signal the end of the world then I don't know what does."

A fourth added that Brexit "has a lot to answer for" following the recent news of HGV driver shortages which saw motorists panic-buying fuel, leaving forecourts across the country with no supplies.

@stuartwilks tweeted: "First gas, then turkeys, then lorry drivers and petrol, now whatsapp. Brexit has a lot to answer for..."

Elsewhere on the platform, another user queried whether the outage was due to a cyber attack, or "yet another Brexit teething problem".

@HaddenhamJohn wrote: "Facebook and Whats App are down. Is it a cyber attack or yet another Brexit teething problem?"

While @Stanley31173347 added: "Facebook and Instagram are down. This is what you get for voting for Brexit."

Others sarcastically compared the outage to other global issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, including @davecollins1066 who wrote: "1st there was Brexit then came covid. No, or hardly any fuel. Now we have no HGV drivers. To make matters worse we have no Facebook or WhatsApp!!"

This thought was also echoed by another, who said the social media blackout was part of a series of "one crisis after another".
(I clipped a bit off the end but it was nothing worthwhile and I was sick of mucking around the Express' site)

Police have made five arrests after former Conservative Party leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith was allegedly attacked with a traffic cone.

The senior politician, a former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, was attending an event at the Conservative Party Conference in the city centre.

GMP said three men and two women have been arrested following the incident on Portland Street, and are being questioned.

Sir Iain was on his way to a fringe event at the Mercure Hotel to discuss Brexit when the alleged incident occurred.

He said the group verbally abused him then 'smashed' the cone on the back of his head.

I fucking love when the Tory conference is in town, not gonna lie.
