https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Labour-run council defeated in 'war on fun' attempt to shut beer garden at much-loved London pub
The reductionist way everyone refers to this stuff as a "war on fun" gets to me, just a bit. It's minimising what it actually is, which is a war on culture. English cultural activities, which yes, does include beer gardens, are under constant attack by the far left as they attempt to erase anything that creates a shared identity for English and other native British ethnicities. It's not merely "fun" they want to do away with, but everything that ties us to this land and to one another as a people. It's much easier to replace a deracinated population.

I like how the council decided to pretend they'd actually achieved what they wanted, despite being told in no uncertain terms to get stuffed.

He has... autistic tourettes? What the fuck is that?
Tourettes and autism can and often do occur together, but look at it another way: he has tourettes, which means he has a very poor mental filter at the best of times, and he's a shitposter. Him calling a meltdown in the back of a police van an "autism episode" would be entirely in character.

Controversial opinion but don't go paying random people on Twitter to produce CP or rape porn for you. Seems a very good way to end up behind bars. Then again it seems to be the sort of thing you're interested in so maybe that's the best place for you.
You are a gigantic nigger and should kill yourself. I see why half the thread says you're just trying to derail by being a retarded faggot chatting shit about things you have no idea about. Just because jack fucked off doesn't mean you need to try one up him. Always thought it was kinda retarded to have a block button on a website that frequently ignores things like that, does seem a bit hypocritical but nah our aspie queen never misses.

The no to digital ID petition is almost at 2million signatures btw. The repeal osa one was a quarter of that. Just for reference that it more than every single city in the entire country other than London by at least double.
Are people that dumb to believe that currently, when you hire someone, you don't need to check that they have the right to work in the country?
Never ascribe that which can be adequately explained by malice to stupidity. Of course people know that you can't employ illegal immigrants. Maybe they don't know the exact figure of £60k per worker but they know that they shouldn't do it. Are people dumb enough to believe that mugging people is bad? They know. They don't care. How does it help? Another situation where they just don't care, the they in that case being the government. The government exists to do two things: infringe on your human rights specifically of freedom and autonomy, and to create schemes like this which will be contracted out to friends of the people in power and the wages of said people will be artificially inflated to siphon as much tax payer money to parliament and it's friends as possible. No one with a brain is under the impression that this will do anything. But not doing anything is the government's strong suit.
(Gateway lets you see your NI number, which those digital IDs supposedly wouldn't).
'We have this new ID system that will let you view all of your rights and licenses and permits and important information in one place. No of course we are not going to include the single most important piece of personal information that an englishman has'? Fucking why? It's possibly the only thing I would actually give a shit about. I know where my driver's license is, I know where my passport is, I know where my fishing license is, I know where my foreskin license is. I have no fucking clue where my NI register thingy is. I have no clue what it is without checking. Admittedly because I never need it but still it's fucking retarded to just not include. If you're going to create the most enticing data server for hackers in the entire world you might as well give them everything they want. They'll already be able to easily commit identity fraud so why not just give them absolutely everything?
I always wondered why the fuck this is even a thing. I can understand needing funding if you're some unknown, my mind goes to brandon herarra. But like what the fuck did they spaff 10mil on? It's like mcdonalds, they don't need advertising everyone knows they exist already. You have the entirety of the media chomping at that bit to interview you and talk about your policies because you are one of the largest political parties in the world's oldest democracy. You don't need to spend money on campagining. I just see 10mil and think like yea maybe it's not a massive amount but there must be something out there that's a better use of that money. I would be way more willing to vote for a party that took that money and just put it on idk fixing the drainage system that poured sewage into that massive lake in Belfast that I think happened around the runup to the election and building a more functional water treatment plant. Obviously that would mean the government doing work for the good of the people so it would never happen but £10mil just to shove a shit load of spam through my door? Glad to know there's even more reasons to hate unions though. Government already skims 50% off your paycheque, unions want the little that's left and they just send it to the political party that wants to increase that 50% even higher and import people that will just take your job. More money than even the richest people in this thread would see in their life, all for what exactly?

God this is ridiculous. I've been around there multiple times. The only reason to walk through that section is to get to the riverside walk that would take you to the Cutty Sark. But you can pretty much only fit 2 people abreast going down there. If you get a buggy or wheelchair along there, its pretty tight to navigate. Plus you get joggers going along it, and I've even seen cyclists which is quite terrifying when they are coming towards you. Oh yeah, and if its high tide and choppy, you're going to get splashed with Thames "water." People worried about pedestrian access can walk 20 seconds away, and cut through the beautiful old nautical college which runs parallel. It's certainly not a rough pub, if people are taking up space outside, just say excuse me and they'll move if they haven't already spotted you coming.

You keep spilling your weird fetishes into the thread and then talk about paying people to make illegal porn on twitter. Put two and two together.
I've got my larp liocense mate.
LARPing is illegal. Those foam swords are too dangerous for the general public. They're outlawing bean bags soon since they have corners and could hurt a brown person if you threw them at their face.

Once the new budget happens then we will get a general idea of when another general election will happen. If it is as bad as it's rumoured to be the we could actually see one before the end of 2026. The unthinkable may finally happen and Labours back bench may finally grow a spine but I won't hold my breath with that.
There is absolutely zero chance of an early election. Labour are sitting on a majority of 150+. There's simply no mechamism or reason for it to happen. What would "back benchers growing a spine" look like in order to force an early election? Hundreds of them voting against a confidence motion to force themselves to seek re-election to their own constituences? Why? It makes no sense.

It's just the never ending, hyperbolic, breathless social media cycle constantly fueling its own fury that leads you to think this Labour government is somehow 'wobbling'.

As for digital ID - all the absolute worst people are vehemently opposed to it. Owen fucking Jones was on the radio squeaking about it. That alone leaves me thinking it must be a good idea.

How is it social media hyperbole to say Labour is wobbling when they've had to reshuffle things twice? Had firings due to scandals and more major scandals developing. Labour is losing it's funding and party members will be jumping ship so they're not laboured as Startmer's lot and made unelectable.

Labour will try to hold onto power but there becomes a point where they cannot. They're rapidly approaching that point.

What the fuck do you mean "hold on to power"? They were elected less than 18 months ago. They have a majority of over 150.

What is this "point" you're imagining?
What labour factions are those 150 members in? How many of them will work together to build a functional cabinet once another reshuffle and another reshuffle happens? Labour is at war with it's self and the majority doesn't matter if they literally cannot put people into positions of power because no one will work together.

Buddy you need to get off twitter or something. This is just divorced from reality. Governments have reshuffles its not some seismic political event. Labour - and the Tories - have always been "big tent" parties of various factions. That's a consequence of FPTP politics.

Starmer could sack his entire cabinet and populate it with willing back benchers 10 times over before he runs out.

There is absolutely no scenario where hundreds of labour MPs decide it is better to allow a politician from another party represent their constituency - which is exactly what your silly wank fantasy requires.

Whether you like Labour or not they're going to be in government until 2029. Pretending otherwise is just cope.

Indeed.

@Diroma I am not sure if you recall the 2022 collapse of the Boris Government (the Owen Paterson scandal being the straw which broke the Tories back after Pincher had to resign, Partygate and the losses to the Lib Dems in Chesham, Honiton & Tiverton and North Shropshire) but we are fast approaching a similar juncture with Starmer.

Mandelson, Rayner, McSweeney files, more possible to come out in October.

At least Boris had the good grace to agree to stand down on July 7th 2022 admitting 'it's game up'. He then resigned when Liz Truss became elected as PM for the shortest time.

Starmer won't go and will not want a challenge from Burnham or anybody.

Therefore, what do you do if you're a Labour MP who knows that the PM is a liability?

Your Party is one option (the more pro-Corbyn MP's and certainly most of the Black and Asian MP's would join) and resigning the Whip but continuing as an Independent MP is another option.

Labour do have a working majority of 157 but only have 399 MP's (down from 411 MP's) and a loss of 74 MP's means they're on 325 (no majority). In theory, 75 MP's voting against the Budget or leaving Labour equals trouble unless Labour can get into a coalition pretty quickly with the Lib Dems, Greens, Plaid or SNP - the latter two is a definite no, the Greens want to work with Your Party more so than they do with Starmer and therefore the Lib Dems would be the only option IF Starmer goes.

A Davey-Burnham leadership could be mooted, in such a circumstance, but that is only if Starmer agrees to go. He won't - as many of us have pointed out he will have to be dragged out of Downing Street literally kicking and screaming... and he is the only MP who can ask for a GE as the PM.

To clarify: Though Labour may have a working majority in Parliament, it means little if they don't have enough MP's or cannot govern as a minority government (virtually zero chance with Starmer).

It won't take much to make Lewis, Whittome, Butler etc. to Your Party or elsewhere (Lib Dems or Greens or even Independents is certainly an option) if/when Starmer tells those not loyal to him to 'leave' - and do not forget he axed seven of his own MP's for daring to defy him not after July 2024 and he apparently was prepared to go to the Palace in July this year but was talked out of it by McSweeney.

He isn't afraid of going to the Palace nor axing anybody not loyal to him, he only cares about himself - if he has to go, he will take others down with him. That is what a psychopath does.

When even the loyal-to-the-gills BBC is questioning Starmer, things are not good.

Also, it is no 'wank fantasy' that the Government can fall - when Reform UK are making the progress no other 'minor' party have ever done and when Labour MP's are in open rebellion then anything is certainly possible.

I also think it's copium from the other side that Labour will have five years - not going to happen, there will be an early GE called either because Starmer fears being replaced or he will lose support from his MP's. Once the Budget VONC goes through, it will be game over.

I am confident in my assertions, though not rude about them.

Anyway closing this with some news bits:

Do you recall the subsequent two years of Tory government that was only ended by Sunak choosing to call an early general election, surprising enemies and allies alike due to its wholly unnecessary timing?

Might Starmer be gone before 2029? Sure anything could happen - but that is not what's being suggested here, which is instead an early general election.

If you're expecting the upcoming budget to result in 75+ Labour MPs leaving the party you're going to be very disappointed.

I'll bookmark this.

Should I be proven right, I hope you'll have the good grace to say 'okay, I got it wrong' as I would if nothing happened.

The conditions for an early General Election are already with us, and there is a feel of May 2024 - pressure on the Government to go, Starmer already less popular than Johnson, Truss and Sunak, panic from the City that Labour are going to take us into a crippling recession and worryingly signs that if it did 'all kick off' that the Police and Army could not keep control and order.

Indeed, Truss and Kwarteng were yanked from their positions for causing far less damage than Starmer and Reeves...

I was asked if I knew more than I'm letting on... maybe, but loose lips and all that.

It is no secret that even some people who aren't normal Reform UK friends and allies would rather take a few years of Farage as PM than continue with Starmer who has lost both control and respect.

Of course, bookmark away.

Something will happen. Something always does. What won't happen is an early general election. There's no political, constitutional or legal reason for there to be one.

I have a lot of sympathy for Reform's approach to immigration, crime, net zero and other policy areas, but it's very difficult to take them or their supporters seriously.

The support for transgenderism was a surprise too.

If that's what you think, then you're welcome to that POV.

I can't take Uniparty or Establishment boot-lickers seriously for the same reason.

We'll see what happens - could be nothing, but it could very well be something.

It's good to see that Reform UK's message is getting out and making an impact though.

Also, more bad news for Labour north of the border:

Going to go into a bit more detail about this because it's a statistic that should frighten Starmer as he is ready to start party conference tomorrow:
1759014631802.webp

With Blair at -44 and he's almost universally hated at least around my part of the country, -66 is dreadful. He is 15 points lower than the woman whose entire premiership was outlasted by a lettuce.

Polling nerd update

Ipsos didn't just poll for PM ratings, they also released a fresh poll:

RFM: 34% (=)
LAB: 22% (-3)
CON: 14% (-1)
LDM: 12% (+1)
GRN: 12% (+3)

11th - 17th Sept

Not really much to say about this one, speaks for itself really. Oh, and the best bit? This doesn't even take into account the Digital ID announcement.

McSweeney/Starmer pain

It came out tonight that Starmer appears to have avoided paying inheritance tax on property that he gave his parents via a trust. But he was also a beneficiary of their estate so would never pay IT on the value of it.
Multiple experts in this field have said that he wouldn't have had to pay inheritance tax on this. No link/archive for this yet as the story has only been teased by the Sunday Times, but will be out fully tomorrow.

1759015637838.webp

Starmer'll be avoiding questions tomorrow, I bet.

More McSweeney and Labour Together revelations tonight also. Starmer is facing a sleaze investigation in the Commons after some leaked WhatsApp messages made their way to the Daily Mail which seem to suggest that there was a secret fund that was being used to install Starmer as Labour leader. Not only does this contradict what Labour denied last week about McSweeney not being involved in getting Starmer elected.

This is actually worth reading, whoever is trying to get Starmer taken down is doing a beautiful job.
