A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The Epping stuff is actually really interesting because unlike the riots last year it seems like they're going by the same logic as lefty protests where it's a sustained mass presence with nothing in particular happening other than some shouting. It ensures that police are stretched tight, there's nothing they can essentially get done for, and the longer it goes on, the more it puts pressure on the hotel and council to shut it down. This kind of thing must be terrifying to the police because when even Big Baz is being smart and refusing to take the bait so the protest can be shut down then you've got real problems.

Imagine if this sort of protest was happening in multiple cities across the UK, it'd hit a point where the police would be unable to monitor all areas.

Just a shame that Fifth Columnist wanker Tommy Robinson has announced he's protesting in Epping which will inevitably get it shut down.
Or they’re allowing these protests to happen so they can close down the hotels, say that people demanded it, and go full steam ahead with moving them into every available house in the country at the expense of the actual citizens.
More abuse as women's football grows - Bronze:
Remember how hard they went after Joey Barton for saying women’s football is shit. They tried to send his to prison for arguing with his wife.

I don’t know why our elites are trying to ram this down our throats.

Six people have been arrested during the latest protest outside a hotel used to house asylum seekers in Essex.
Ch Supt Simon Anslow said it was disappointing to see the protest escalate into "mindless thuggery".

"I think I speak for all of us – including the people of Epping – when I say we've had enough of your criminality," he added.
Imagine saying that to the locals who have been assaulted and raped, in a town with an asylum hotel where rapists and thugs live. 🤡

I switched up details a few times to keep it anonymous but it's more or less the exact truth
You're an idiot. You heard everybody warning you that you were posting too much personal information and you should change some details to make yourself less identifiable. And instead of thinking "I should change my behaviour to foil bad actors such as change a few details in a consistent way" you thought "I should change my behaviour to please other posters and tell them how I keep changing details".

And though I have not much sympathy for the person who told me that in my "heart of hearts I enjoy the pain of women", much less from someone who self-confessedly tells their partner she'll kill him / her for leaving their coat on the floor (what, were you dating a nine year old, btw?), or who also says she has no sympathy for women afraid to leave abusive relationships, I still decided to give you this advice in the vague hope you might learn to protect yourself against bad actors.

EDIT:
Well it was obviously the sock of the poster who everyone had been telling they were PL'ing too much and should change it. Just figured if she'd stopped posting on the old account before starting the new, I'd politely ignore it. Figure others were doing the same given we'd been telling her the old account had shared too much info.

Do they contribute anything remotely of value?
They play football. (No)

Their already full steam ahead on that one. If they use this, it'll be a post facto justification for what they've already done. More likely is they'll try to minimise the connection between the protests and the hotels and then arrest everyone involved for "terrorism".

@femboy fart huffer I'm not the remotest bit upset that I was investigated for DV, it's that police ignored my pleas to get them medical help first, prioritised that and then refused to call them an ambulance.

You are entitled to believe it was right for them to ignore someone in active septic shock (many believe earth is flat, after all): you weren't there, you didn't hear the desperation in my voice.

They try to play football. Badly. At about an under 15 boys level. But then claim it's sexist that they aren't paid the same as men who would beat them 20-0 ( I'm probably being generous ) and actually fill out stadiums at full price ticket cost. Anyone who points this out to them is abusive.

There's some comedy to be had listening to the commentators try to justify it being only 1-1 after ten penalties have been taken. I'll be watching Our Girls tomorrow night.

I'm already dreading the cringeworthy cooing over "are brave Lionesses" in the media once they inevitably get spanked 5-0 by Spain in the finals, along with the pearl clutching over some black player getting "a tsunami of hateful racial abuse" on social media from a few Russian bot accounts. Nobody actually gives a shit about women's football, I'll only watch it as a last resort if I have absolutely fuck all else to do, every other football fan I know feels the same but apparently the "Lionesses" are such a huge cultural institution that they have their own fucking tube line named in honour of them.

I reckon are gorls are owned a few apologies now.

Just a few.

They're still shite.

This article doesn't actually define what is going to be made illegal. It vaguely suggests that criticising grooming gangs might be considered Islamophobic with nothing concrete.
The very fact that the government is about to adopt an official definition of "islamophobia" is the problem. It's placing islam above everything else, by giving it unique protections that no other religion or ideology has. The proposed definitions have been deliberately kept secret and only discussed in very vague terms in public, likely because they're going to be an imposition of a form of blasphemy law in all but name.

I wonder if it would be considered islamaphobic to state matters of well-agreed upon historical fact? For example, that the prophet Muhammed married his wife Aisha when she was six, and consumated the marriage when she was nine years old.

It probably will be, if you say it in a "hateful" way. Despite the fact that the above is from Wikipedia.

I am legitimately not certain if you could say something like that in the UK and not get arrested.

I recall (but cannot find any evidence of) a case of someone at least threatened with arrest for reading verses from the koran in public while being insufficiently brown. Sharing the god-written truth of islam to the masses is inherently islamophobic, because it makes them fear and despise islam.
