On January 27th, John bitches about some online-only bank having terrible customer service so he closed his account immediately. Someone asks him if there's a credit union he can go to, but he throws that out as an option because he's deathly afraid of the coof and doesn't want to go outside (never mind that he went outside plenty of times already by his own admission). He also spouts that a credit union can't possibly have the high-tech app that Godzilla of Tech Feminism John Walker Flynt deserves because, and I quote, "How can a local credit union possibly keep a team of full stack devs employed?"
Took me one second on Google to find the Mass Bay Credit Union, not only local to the Boston area, but also a member of NCUA and NSIC so as "safe" as any bank. If he doesn't like that one there's Massachusetts Family Credit Union, also NCUA backed. There's even a Dedham Federal Credit Union which is also a NCUA member.

I literally did not scroll past the top results on my screen for this information and I don't live in Dedham, Massachusetts so the locations may not be totally relevant. I did click through to confirm that each of these allows you to enroll and bank online though. The first two even have Mobile Apps, nationwide ATM access, etc.

Not surprising at all that John has no clue what a modern credit union is like. Why would it need to permanently employ an internal team of any kind of developers when it can contract out near everything to national/international credit union networks/partners/etc.? I figured a tech giant who was personally quoted in the book Coders: Who They Are, What They Think and How They Are Changing Our World would know all about this kind of modern tech-based company.

Brianna Wu is a transphobe. Riddle me this Brianna; if there's nothing wrong with being Trans, why do you insist on remaining in the closet despite anyone with functioning eyes and ears knowing exactly who you are? (hint : it's because you're a transphobic bigot).

Wu is always lusting for the "elite" solution and something as convenient as a local credit union can't ever be pro or elite enough. If he could he would try to open an account at the world bank.

Certainly scientific authority John Walker Flynt knows all about the humility that comes from the realisation of how much there really is to know and couches all his assertions thusly. And shortly John will also be pointing out who this girlfriend is so that we can celebrate her accomplishments and academic achievements.

Was that girlfriend Frank and the PhD was something else and "chemistry" was biology-something and it was a "gay" relationship because they both had cocks but Brianna is a woman so... ? There's no mention of when this would have happened, like "when I was in college/higher education" which would be relevant or "when I was working at gamestop for a weekend" or "after I met Frank". Those three eras are the last 24 years of his life. It certainly didn't happen when he was in high-school.

reasonably priced and works well is something Johnnie is allergic to. IIRC he has a "professional" rice cooker (I think he said around $500 -- but that might be in the quantum Wu bucks that change their value when observed) when the $30 rice cooker would do box-a-meal John just fine.
Reminds me of when John said (entirely inaccurately) that the AR15's 5.56/223 was "overkill and speaks to an unwillingness to learn skills."

Who says a classic 911 isn't practical? I'd say the person who can't see out of the rear view mirror or the off side wing mirror because there's a fucking tree in the passenger seat.

hmm, there appear to be at least 2 small maples in the yard photo, and larger pots
how many trips John?
doing any of it in the rain?

where do the 2x4s go?

it's "practical" for someone who said an afternoon of light soil grading was the "hardest work theyve ever done"

John's lies about his nonexistent friends are even dumber than his idiotic lies about himself. I have three friends I knew in grad school who earned Ph.D.s in chemistry. None of them ever encountered "a terrifying moment . . . when 'all this shit is starting to make sense.'" One of them (a woman) is a professor, another (also a woman) does research for the DoD, and the third works for 3M; they appear competent to me, despite their woeful lack of some moronic epiphany in grad school.

I will posit that it is absolutely impossible to become a Ph.D. candidate in any subject that doesn't make sense to you. (Well, any subjects except gender studies and critical race theory.)

And why a grad student in chemistry would be terrified when chemistry suddenly started to make sense is a question that only John Flynt von Munchausen can answer.

Could this girlfriend be the Heather referred to in Wu's ode to John? She was described as a Ph.D. candidate in "Exercise Science." I don't know how intelligent you have to be to get a doctorate in being an informercial talking head theory from the great state of Mississippi (school motto: making Alabamans look smrt since 1742.)

My interpretation is that whatever Frank can afford needs to be the best no matter if it's true or not, 300 dollar sharpener on expensive rusty knives and so on. Price makes right. Remember before the Porche's when he only had the "very classic sports car" Audi TT? That's a hairdresser's car. Then he got the Boxster, the gay hairdresser's car, then... He will always go as high as he can to make it better, that's why he's got a Threadripper gaming PC, which makes no sense, paired with a GeForce for serious 3D development because he doesn't know about Quadro.
Despite getting rid of his own he's in an eternal dick measuring contest vs the world and come hell or high water he will claim to have measured the most dicks, some of them in Mississippi.

To be fair, having had extensive experience with both Quadro and AMD's equivalent Firepro cards, I'd go for the gaming cards every time. The "benefit" of certified standards compliant GL implementations comes at the massive cost of those drivers basically never being updated, and it's arguably a detriment to someone who is supposedly making a game where being bug compatible with gaming cards/drivers is actually a requirement.

Would Wu either know that or would know to look at price-tag of the Pro-label and the extra VRAM? He had a Xeon/Vega combo because it was "Pro".

It's for show...I think they wanted to dramatic pay-off for scenes like when david, in a panic, rips the handset out of the coupler and hangs up

remember when david sets his computer up to dial numbers til he finds the computer? well consider that the modem would have to go on-hook/off-hook to redial (that's actually a shorting resistor across the twisted pair..an actual electrical switching -- you can do it through the jacks b/c that's an electrical connection, but an acoustic coupler is ACOUSTICALLY connected)
Hum. I assume it might have been technicaly possible to do this with a tone- didn't some of the 'box' circuits supposedly do this for long-distance calls at least? I imagine an acoustic coupler wouldn't be able to do the needful, however. And Johnny boy certainly wouldn't.
Let also remind that as Miss'ippi John has reminded us many times, he grew up poor. Super poor. So poor they could only afford the basics - very little food, having to have the power shut off, and $500 modems to attach to $1500 computers to use $0.25 a minute BBSes.
The absolute bare minimum for human survival.
Ah.. but you see. He didn't pay for those phone calls because hE wAs A hAcKeR.

Let's leave aside, for a moment, the fact that subjecting expensive plants to sustained hurricane force winds right before planting them is not a good idea.

there are a few problems
you are probably thinking main of boxes like the blue box (the 2600 box) which could disconnect across a trunk and allow a LD dial-thru but that's in-band and you'd hear it for each and every call along with the wink and dialing dance[which we don't]
it can't be out-of-band b/c he'd need to hardwire that (not all boxes were acoustic boxes) and if he did that then he wouldn't be needing an acoustic coupler at all
I think that's the big thing -- If we are talking digging into HW to make the acoustic coupled modem more than it is, then you'd just get rid of the acoustic coupler..esp as he's using it on his desk (not a payphone)

and he's not manually using a blue box now if he'd modified his modem circuitry to be able to blue box (added a blue box in parallel, etc) then he would just go ahead and wire up a jack and do away with the acoustic coupler all together

on the other side of it, I'm not sure if holding a trunk open all night would work and on the practical side, ma bell allowed some boxing b/c it wasn't that pervasive and they made money b/c busy lines meant building out which meant raising the baseline rates.
but once you start holding a trunkline overnight...well -- tracing back in that day was literally polling the relays...that's a hard wire right to your house

Way ahead of you bri. I got one in the driveway already but it belongs to my brother coincidentally named Jon. I took a pic

Wanna know why it looks like shit? Because it is shit and its made of fibreglass and slower than a golf cart and no one has wanted to drive it in years. The rims my bro put on it are worth more than the car. If you get in an accident you're fucked. Worst car i ever drove.

Its also the flip ferrari body kit if you remember the meme.

The Fiero is good fundamentally. Lots of GM 3800 V6 and LS swaps turn it from a wheezy Iron Duke powered also.ran into a genuine screamer. It suffered from being produced by a GM that couldn't have anything faster than the mediocre Corvette of the same era.
