So true John, this topic is never discussed in major newspapers or in movies or in academia ever, it's just never happened in the history of humanity. However you are a man.

Frank ain't going bankrupt anytime soon I hate to say.

His stock options alone in the start up he joined is worth at least a half mil right now. Add in his six figure salary and Johnny boy can have all the mid-range penis extenders he wants.

Basically John Flynt won the lolcow lottery and hooked up with someone who actually has money to blow on his stupid ideas. He's ever lolcows envy.

Too bad he's still a male. No amount if money will ever change that.

I'm sure Glenn already knows that John is a troon and actually a man but also knows this isn't useful and he can't use it in his circles. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if completely anonymous and untraceable people start throwing around the troon thing on his behalf, though.
Yeah, basically everyone knows the truth, at least aside from low-information individuals, especially after Dave Weigel outed him in that WaPo article before issuing the "Brianna Wu identifies as a woman" correction. There's literally a paper trail; I'm almost surprised that Wu has never tried to go full "stunning and brave" to drum up more scampaignbux.

He’s such a passive aggressive little prick. He knows what he said about Glenn was bullshit lies and then he tries to make a #metoo comment about “the menz”.

You’re a man John Flynt, stop speaking for real women.

The stock price of Wave Life Sciences actually fell off a cliff last month with the news that they may have to raise more money to stay afloat this year. From a high of 50 bucks a share, it's now down to around 7.

I've never been entirely clear if what Frank has are actually shares or just options. Options would certainly explain why he's been sitting on thousands and thousands of these extremely volatile holdings for years and years. But if what he has are options, then they may well now be completely worthless if the price at which he can exercise the option is more than the value of the actual stock.

More amusingly, it raises the possibility that Frank might fairly soon be out of a job. At Frank's age, that would probably mean he would never be employed again. Certainly not at the level of his current position. Can you imagine Wu with her toy money cut off? It'd be hilarious.

Bankruptcy Brianna is a saga thats been a long time coming, and is one of the few things with the potential to unseat Yaniv as reigning king of happenings

I disagree. It's gonna take a hell of a lot more to drag down Wu than a bankruptcy filing. The woke crowd will continue to white knight him, provided he keeps saying the "right" things. Bankruptcy isn't even the big scandal it used to be.

Yaniv, on the other hand, has crossed the rubicon. CBC actually did a... *gasp* negative story on him earlier in the month.

The same crowd that defends Wu is in a smoke filled back room right now trying to figure out how to offload Yaniv's ass without looking like they're offloading all the horseshit propaganda they've been shoveling. They're probably praying he gets arrested as a pedo.

Oh, hey. Speaking of spending other peoples' money... Wu just filed her FEC report. Pretty fucking astonishing that it wasn't filed at midnight on the 31st, but miracles do happen.

Headline figures:
- Donations are down, just 40K this quarter. That's still an astonishing amount of dosh people are spaffing on this ogre in a dress, but you know what they say about fools and their money.
- They're still spending beyond their means, and not on anything particularly relevant or useful. They unloaded about 45K on the usual suspects this quarter.
- As usual, Paul Cassali, Brandon Kahr and Digital Insurrection picked up the majority of the outgoings. For some reason, they also paid 800 bucks directly to a staff member of Digital Insurrection too.
- This quarter, Wu ACTUALLY PAID PAYROLL TAX! I guess the new accountants must have taken one look at Wu's dodgy "you're all contractors" arrangement and threw their hands up in horror. Do you want liens on your new house? Because this is how you get liens on your new house.
- Wu had the obligatory visit to the Apple store, but it was only for 150 bucks. What does Apple even sell for 150 bucks? I wonder if she threw her iPad at someone too hard and it needed a "genius"'s attention.
- There seems to be more attention to crossing the Is and dotting Ts this quarter. More bank charges and small subscription stuff like mailchimp. No doubt the accountants at work again.
- The subscription to The Wing has disappeared. Not sure whether becase Wu has realised charging this to her political campaign fund was not a good look, or because she's realised that nobody there is going to give the time of day to a huge, awkward man.

If you have any of these in your engine to begin with:
Chiming chains
You have some real problems.

Timing chains however..........
This dude's whole life is posing. There is no way possible to accidentally misspell timing the way he just did.
im no mechanic, but if the timing chain breaks it does not cause 'catastrophic engine damage', your engine just stops dead, like a widow maker heart attack. It will just shut off. Now if the serpentine belt went out then you would lose power steering and more importantly engine cooling and if you dont pull over and shut down then you will burn your engine up, which seems like a more likely troony scenario.

Someone should remind Glenn that Brianna Wu isn’t a true and honest woman and all a narcissistic scammer/grifter who’s accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars for a scampaign to use on personal electronics and trips.
Yeah. Not sure why he didn't just say, 'Claims I'm sexist toward women but he doesn't have to worry about that if it was even true'.

It can under various scenarios. One example: if it happened on an early Ford Escort, the valves that were stopped in the open positions would hit the top of their pistons because the crankshaft keeps turning but the camshaft stops before it.

I am an amateur mechanic.

The answer to this question depends on whether he has an "interference" or "non-interference" engine.

It an interference engine, when the timing belt or chain snaps, while one or more valves are open, the pistons will slam into said valves. The timing is designed to keep the valves and pistons clear of each other. You will be looking at fairly extensive and expensive engine damage. Most likely, you'll be rebuilding the head(s).

In a non interference engine, there is enough clearance between a fully open valve and a piston at top dead center (TDC). The engine will indeed just stop.

I would need to know his exact model of Porsche Wu has in order to tell you what scenario is more likely.

Protip for Kiwis: If you have an interference engine, you must absolutely change the belt or chain regularly to avoid a more expensive repair bill. Have them replace the water pump at the same time because it's behind the timing cover anyways, and you'll save on labor costs.

The "chiming chain" connects the crankshaft to the camshaft so that piston and valve movement is synchronized. The camshaft controls the valves. In an interference engine, the pistons and valves are playing a constant game of whack a mole. When pistons come to visit, the valves go in their holes. Chain slack or failure can and does result in the pistons slamming into the valves, which can and does result in damage. The pistons still move inside of the cylinders while the valves would not be getting out of the way in time.

The chain (sometimes belt) can fail spontaneously, but usually it is a long process after poor maintanence.

Brianna Wu's actual pokemon would just be Marilyn Manson's skinned face stretched and poorly secured over the head of a Sony Aibo.

Just like people gullible enough to believe that a protest bus was going to be sent to Susan Collins' state in the aftermath of the Kavanagh vote.

There's less chance of John Flynt not being a terrible living and ruining everything near him than Sonic Sonic having a good game (John Flynt has always been a piece of shit while Sonic Mania came out in 2017)

Looks like Wu destroyed another car. It's funny how all her sweet car mechanicin' skills go out the window the second anything is actually wrong with the thing.
Time for him to grift again i see

After all these comments I can say that my IRL experience of a timing belt going out must have been on a non interference engine, and I just assumed that was the case across the board. Again, im not a mechanic, everything about car repair I know only because it has went wrong and I was too poor to hire a mechanic. Many times in my life I have bought a vehicle repair book and just worked it out on my own. Learned something new today to add to the lexicon though.

And the work Frank does at Wave involves patent issues. He hasn't done real science in a long time. Combine that with his age, and he won't be getting a new job at anywhere near his current salary.

He has sunk a lot of money into John's campaign. He has house payments and Porsche payments. And he's got John Flynt running free with the Frank Wu credit cards.

If Frank loses his job, he might have to cut John loose to save himself.

Then again, John could always rejoin the workforce as a senior software engineer, game Dev exec, or award-winning investigative reporter.

ETA: Interesting article from Dec. 16 on Wave's stock collapse:

https://www.fool.com/investing/2019/12/16/heres-why-wave-life-sciences-is-imploding-today.aspx (http://archive.ph/BvuII)

ETA 2:. Wave has shut down the only independent project it was working on, causing the company's stock to lose 85 percent of it's value. Of the two remaining projects, one is an apparently dormant project with Pfizer, and the other is in partnership with Takeda Pharmaceutical, a big outfit that certainly has its own staff of patent researchers. Frank should probably be worried.

Wu don't care, they didn't have to do anything to buy the cars, so they don't worry about taking care of it.
