Also there is no fucking "Tech Subcommittee." There is an entire committee called the "Committee on Science, Space and Technology." It has a "Subcommittee on RESEARCH and Technology."

Also there is a "Subcommittee on COMMUNICATIONS and Technology" under the much more prestigious "Committee on Energy and Commerce."

There is also a "Subcommittee on Information Technology" under the again much more prestigious "Committee on Oversight."

John would never be allowed anywhere near any of these committees even if the entirety of the 8th District had a stroke after a district-wide crack binge and elected him on some kind of super-version of the butterfly ballot in Florida that had elderly Jews voting for Pat Buchanan.
 
Any junior politic serving their first term will always be hooked up with a position of power by the more experience peers. No proposal writings for the young and bright, no consensus building, you don't even have to present your finding on the floor and have people vote on it.

You just tweet whatever changes you figure out and the president replies to that "K", and it's done.

It's not like they're even raising any money. For all Wu's talk of being constantly on the phone, there's nothing to show for it. Every indication suggests it's all pure bluster, and Wu just plays games all day. Just yesterday, like the instant Frank walked out the door, Wu bought a new PS4 game and started playing it.

As far as I can tell, Wu's work ethic has only gotten worse since the end of the last campaign season. I think Frank is still trying to be supportive and chivies her out to events when he's home, but if she's home alone she does fuck all. Frank's the campaign's largest donor, followed by friends of Frank. He thinks he's helping her achieve her dream, but he's only enabling her delusions. As far as Wu's concerned, the campaign begins and ends with sperging on twitter for the asspats.

You can’t have a baby because Brianna Wu is a man named John Flynt. Men don’t have wombs.

Kids do impact your finances but hardly cause financial ruin. Since Brianna Wu is a massive narcissist, he’d never want something that would impact spending on himself and his toys. It’s all about having a 2018 brand new Porsche vs a kid that gives you joy and provides meaning to your life in a way that material things and gadgets don’t.

Johns too selfish to spend money or attention on something or someone else.

The article she was responding to had some very hazy math. It quotes an "expert opinion" that the cost of childcare should be no more than 10% of a household's expenses and then uses that to extrapolate that, if raising a child costs about $1500 a month, then the minimum household earnings for raising one is almost $200,000 a year.

Comparing their $1500/month number to American statistics, they find that $18,000 a year is about 30% of a median household's earnings, which they then use to "prove" that raising children is too expensive.

It's all very indistinct because these numbers are far from hard-and-fast. Budgeting and personal finance are literally one of the most individual things to think about when having a child. The earnings of Americans and the costs of raising children are all across the board, so to scare people off having kids by saying "it will ruin you!" strikes me as in poor taste.
It seemed like the authors were more trying to make excuses for why they shouldn't be responsible for procreating, as if this whole thing was written in response to a nagging mother.
It has other problems too but I won't get into them.

The country has tens of millions of kids who dream of being raised with the kind of money John blows on a scampaign or a new car every few months.

Of course, it's just as well John doesn't adopt. We have enough psychopaths without them raising kids.
